Guess you can't be "cheap" and "great". Completely ignored my spider senses and was bitten. Agree with other commenters with less than transparent pricing. Danger #1: Was first quoted $14,000 to remove roughly 20 trees of various sizes and when I asked for time to get other quotes, the used car salesman came out and fast forward, we agreed upon $7K. They started fast and impressed me with their ability to start same day and massed on the site with numerous branded vehicles. Danger 2: But they worked into complete darkness (after 9 pm) where safety had to be an issue....especially since there was an "out of the blue" snow storm in Charlotte. Danger 3: Next day, Rep started asking for payment before job was complete and what did I do.....you guessed it. ...Paid them. Completed the job on the second day. Did they check in to make sure I was satisfied of the job well-done? Of course not. But to be honest, with all the snow on the ground, neither side would be able to tell if the cleanup was good. Check back in after snow melted.....no! On to the next. Danger 4: When the snow melted.....war zone with stump grind holes and crap all over the place. Also, had a broken sprinkler line. After 5 phone calls, they sent out a "guy" to repair the sprinkler line and after a week, it failed. Attempted to call after that and they started sending my calls to voicemail. Called from my work number and you guessed it, they answered....that time. After that, that number was blacklisted. During the final call, now from my wife's phone, demanded to speak to the manager and the rep said she couldn't but had left the owner Oscar my previous messages. After finding out that the owner owns both locations in Charlotte and Atlanta area, I called that number and when I asked to speak to the owner, they refused and simply hung up on me. Needless to say.....don't get blinded by the branded fleet.....unprofessional, sketchy practices and poor customer service. read more

DO NOT USE - SCAM. Received a coupon for $500 off a quote of $1000 or more. Quoted me $1200, told them I had the coupon, he acknowledged this several times and told me he would include it. I signed the form, which **he edited afterwards without my knowledge**. Scratched our driveway up picking up the limbs also. Here's the kicker, when I called them to dispute, they literally told me to "shut the f* up" and hung up. Could not recommend this place less. read more

the name should be Not Cheap and Terrible. they did not do a good job. they were supposed to be at our house at 10 a.m. but showed up at 7a.m. and started banging on our neighbors doors, trying to drum up more work. they cut down 2 bushes , that we planted 20 years ago, that were not supposed to be removed. When I went outside to tell them it was too early he told me one of his guys cut down the bushes and that he was sorry and would reimburse us for them. He then offered my husband $30. I said absolutely not. I took $200 off the total bill and that was generous on my part. It took them 2 days to come back to grind all the stumps in our contract. They left a huge mess and their trucks left oil on the street. I have never written a bad review until now. I highly encourage you not to use them! BTW their prices were not cheap read more

This company did an amazing job on cutting down some old damaged trees! They showed up on time and returned the next day to finish stump grinding as promised! Beware that they did a bit of upselling when they came but it was well worth the additional work because they gave a great price to take down a few more trees!! We have been scammed!! On Mar10, Richard quoted $900 to cut one medium to small tree and stump grind. He wanted $300 deposit and said tree would be cut with the following Friday or Saturday. Friday they did not show I called and was told trees would be cut the next day and Richard would get back to us later that night and let us know what time on Saturday. We never received a call back and they did not show on Saturday. On Friday, Mar 24, our neighbor was having trees removed from another company. I talked to the owner of this company to inquire how much it would cost to remove our tree. He responded $400, we were on our way to dr appointment and wasn't able to pay him at this time, he said he would just leave his card on the door and I can call him and we can settle up when we got back! Upon paying this tree service, I told him what had happened with "Great and Cheap", (not hearing back from them and the deposit), he shook his head and responded one should not be required to give a deposit for tree service. And he is so right... a few years back, we had 5 LARGE Cryptomeria trees removed and stump ground, which cost 2 grand and we never had to pay a deposit. Today is Mar 30, and we have never heard back from "Cheap and Great Tree Services". I just called this afternoon regarding the $300 deposit return and explained the time frame and never hearing back from anyone. She said the deposit was non refundable and look at my yellow slip and that I signed it. And somehow when I signed it, I don't believe that "non refundable' on there! Pretty Discouraging!! read more

I used Cheap & Great Tree Services from Charlotte last week. Cut down 5 trees & removed 3 large branches from 3 others. I thought over all they did a great job. The 7/8 man crew worked like a well oiled machine. They did a great job cleaning up all the waste and were very mindful of the property. The only complaint I have is the fact that down along the lake front I have post lights with 12 inch white vinal globes. One of the branches to be cut off was above one of them. They did not say anything and I did not notice until after they left, but they broke the light fixture off. I could have been avoided if he would have taken the time to use a rope and lower, but it was getting late, so he did not take the time. Those fixtures were getting hard to find the last time I needed one, so I ordered a spare. I just have to use my time now to replace it. The other complaint I have is their flyer offers discount coupons, veterans and seniors discounts. I never saw any kind of break down in the given price. When I asked about the discounts it was, "it is figured in that price". I don't know if it was or not without a break down. read more
