I am writing to highly recommend Travis and the team at Cheaper than Dirt. We have lived at our current residence for 19 years, and about 3 years after moving in, we had a fence installed by Fences by Farr. The fence has held up remarkably well over the years. After looking, investigating, and wondering, I finally found Cheaper Than Dirt's website and "voila" - fair prices, accurate pictures, and an easy to call number. Connected to Travis, an actual human answering the phone who passed me to his great staff to arrange delivery - the next day! We got 20 tons of material at a great price, delivered fairly but, perhaps more important, with great communication and folks that really do what they say. The next day we rented a skid steer and were able to get so much done with it, not just move the material they brought. I cannot say enough good things about the very patient and skilled Robert who rescued me from a tight spot and helped us until the job was done right. As soon as it dries up a bit, we will be calling Travis and Cheaper Than Dirt again. Each person we dealt with was friendly, honest, and courteous. The first time I used Cheaper Than Dirt was in 2017, I was at Walmart buying 26 bags of soil. While I was loading it in my truck by myself, a customer came up and told me about Cheaper Than Dirt. I went to my home, unloaded all those bags and realized NOT Enough. Then I remembered Cheaper Than Dirt I went to the Belton location and for 1/2 of what I had just spent got a yard in the back of my truck and completed my project that same day. I must have miscalculated the amount I needed. This was not the company's fault; it was mine. My husband and I were looking to get gravel stone to do the flooring under our pergola. We found Cheaper than Dirt by driving around as they are conveniently located off the I-35 and hard to miss. The selection of stone exceeded my expectations and I even found extra things I wasn't planning on getting as they normally are outside the budget. After having left an unfavorable rating after completion of the supposed work that he had chaged an exorbant price for, he visited with me and assured me that even though his price was several times more than the work was actually worth, his character is so sterling that if there is ever a problem he could be counted on to make it right. Well, today my house flooded as a result of his inadequite work and when called, he esentially told me to go away and not bother him. He told me he would have the office call me as soon as they were opened , and right on the bell I received a call back from the friendly office personnel . I will never turn to anyone else for any material...dirt, decomposed granite, gravel, etc. Honestly, I don't know how they compare to others on price...you may find other providers/haulers cheaper. But I like the idea that I can call him, give him a day or two notice and I get scheduled for a delivery. Easy and turnkey. If you want to go by and look at the material, they are located just off I-35 in Belton. He is very conscious of not doing any damage to your property when he is delivering. Do NOT buy from this business. The owner is not honest. I live in Austin so I spoke with him over the phone and told him I needed a lot of compost to change my lawn to a xeriscape garden. He assured me his compost was of the best quality. His website guarantees customer satisfaction. What was delivered to me was NOT screened. Full of clay clods ranging from the size of ping pong balls all the way to the size of large grapefruits as well as rocks, large twigs, even pieces of two by fours. I requested that they come get the material and refund my money, but the owner was not interested in doing that, nor would he respond to my request that he at least refund some of the cost. He insisted this is how compost is, which is NOT true. When I wrote this on Google reviews, he responded-- on Google reviews-- "I am truly sorry that you were not happy with the materials/service that you received. It is our goal to ensure that all of our customers are completely satisfied each and every time.Our offer for a 100% refund is still available to you at anytime. We would also greatly appreciate the chance to earn your business back, should you ever need anything in the future." Yet he has not responded to my request that he make good on those words.
