This company is a scam. We got charged $185 just to open up the door to our apartment and then $350 for a new handleset which isn't even worth that much in store. Even afterwards, we had to pay and additional $95 for labour fees. Total cost for the job including tax was around $740. Don't waste your money. read more

I live in Montreal and I got ripped off by Check Point Door and Lock. They charged me $125.00 plus tax for a lock that was worth $25.99 at Home Depot (4 times greater than the cost). Sierra told me it is because Home Depot buy in bulk. Home Hardware has a similar model lock of better quality for $31.99. This is a total scam and I will never deal with this company again. This is a SCAM. I am not sure how they are still able to operate after so many people complaining. I was unfortunately not very knowledgeable about locks and the like and they got me. Locked myself out of my home with no spare keys (lost my key ring) and called them to open my door. Locksmith got to my place and immediately told me he could not lockpick my door (without even trying or looking closely at the lock). I told him i had another door at the back of the house, and he said it was going to be the same thing so he couldn't either. He said he would have to pierce the lock and break it to get in. I didnt know any better and had been outside for 2 hours at -10C, so I let him. He then sold me a new lock because mine was destroyed. Ended up costing me 460$ just to get in my house. read more

DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. I was recently charged $180 for 5 minutes worth of work and what irks me the most is that this amount was not stated by the technician before he did the work. He completely lied to us. We were lead to believe we would be paying a reasonable amount for the job and then the fee showed up on my credit card with absolutely no explanation. It was a simple key removal from the door since my key broke off. The worst part is their customer service and trying to deal with this company afterwards. They will hang up on you if you ask to speak to management, not provide you with the receipt and invoice when you ask for it, and are all around rude and unprofessional people. There are far better companies out there who are honest with their customers. Do yourself a favour and never call this company because it's a shady, poorly run business. read more

Never call this company. I live in Guelph and was quoted a base of $15 plus $35 and up depending what the technician decided. I ended up paying $224 including tax for a job that maybe took 1 minute to complete. He used two bags to pump open my door so he could insert a hook to pull my keys out. Awful! Price gouging during a pandemic! Locked my keys inside my apartment but found their number on internet through my phone. Tried to get the price over the phone but all she says is $15 +. The + is based on complexity of lock and locksmith's time, starting at $35. Locksmith felt less than 5 minutes work and not even using locksmith tools (blood pressure cuff and crowbar) was worth + $120 on top of the initial $15. Are you kidding me? Big thumbs down! This company scammed me when I was locked out of my house. I called and was quoted $60 plus " labor". We were locked out years ago and it cost $60. When the serviceman looked at the lock, which was a typical front door dead bolt he told me it was going to cost $225.It was Sunday night and I reluctantly agreed. He drilled the lock and opened the door. He entered the payment info in his phone and said an email receipt would be sent. The receipt didn't come. When I checked my statement, he charged me over $300. He never said the $225 was just labor and the total would be over $300. Who charges $225 for 5 minutes of "labor".I called the company and was told to call back in the morning. read more

TERRIBLE company. I locked myself out of my apartment and was told over the phone that it would cost about $35 minimum but they never said anything about the $155 minimum if there was no bolt. This is what I was charged for 5 minutes!! I was scammed!! To make matters worse, we were told that this locksmith was going to be wearing a mask and gloves, due to covid-19 but he was NOT. He said he had thrown out his mask and gloves before he arrived, so he could get here faster...WTF! When we were paying, I had asked this guy to move back because we were social distancing. His response was "I don't care if I get the virus or not!" This was a disgusting response. My sister and I were appalled by this incredibly irresponsible statement. We called the company multiple times and they said "We ensure all of our locksmiths are taking the social distance/safety measures very seriously. Uhhh....did they not get what we had been saying the whole time!? Then we asked for a discount, and had to call back multiple times until they wanted to do us a favour of providing us with $20 off. Way too much for what was involved. Felt strongly that I was taken advantage of. Here's what happened: Needed new combo lockset for front door. FC locksmith arrived within timeframe. Worker drilled 2 large holes in door, then installed lockset. Worker had to acquire brass plate at Home Depot to cover old holes as he was out of stock in his truck. When he finished, I asked if he could make some extra keys. He said he would at no extra cost, but his key machine was broken. "Sorry." Suggested I clean up mess and take away the garbage which consisted mostly of boxes and papers from new lockset. I insisted he take away the garbage, but he refused to clean up. He also adjusted another lock for me--10 minutes plus another $55. Price of lockset at Home Depot $109. Price FC charged me for same set $250. Price of cover plate at Home Deport $48. Price FC charged $65. With service call of $29, installation charge of $55, and tax, I paid $558.22. read more

Choose a reputable company. Do your research. I did not. 1. "Locksmiths" are not professional locksmiths. The person who came out damaged my existing door lock and surrounding area, damaged the weather stripping and took my door plate with him??, further leading to damage to my door and wall. Most important take away: he didn't fix anything. After my house guest and husband got involved he "ordered" the parts to return at a later date. We did not hear from him again. 2. Charges for services and repair are not clear or given up front. It is not full disclosure. After they charge your credit card there are additional charges with regards to time and work done. good luck getting it back! 3. No Contract on the receipt for warranty work or anything else!!!! once they do the job or not do the job AND you pay. That is it! $. Customer service and dispatch are covered by people well versed in avoiding and waiting you out. There is only one supervisor and she is very well versed at letting you know she is working on it. There is no contact with owner. It took 3 months of continuous calling to resolve and a threat of legal action as I was over being nice. I taped all my conversations with them and saved all voicemails, as they do not reply to email. There plan is to wait you out. I hope this helps someone. read more

Called them December of 2018, my key was stuck and wouldn't come out. Service guy came by and said I needed a new lock cylinder. $400.00 later he left. the cylinder felt like it was loose but he is the locksmith so I let it go. Fast forward 6 months and the latch to open the door from inside did not work, I called them and they said sorry but the lock has a 90 day warranty. Another $210.00 later it's fixed. When I booked the current appointment the person on the phone said that I would receive a 10% discount on any of the new work preformed. I told that to the technician and he said only if I paid in cash. My answer was no to the cash payment, I need records of my expenses. on june 10 2022 my friend locked her keys in a 2005 toyota Camry. the ad popped up first when i googled car locksmiths. i was told he would be there within 30 min. that was the only good thing. when he arrived he looked at the car and said it would cost $350 to open the door. when i told him my roadside would only cover 100 he changed his price to 150. he thought insurance would cover the cost and i wouldn't care how much he said. after he opened the door which took less than 30 seconds he took my cc info and email for a receipt the next day i never got any receipt but my cc was charged. when i tried to call them they said they didnt have my email address but the driver took my cc and email at the same time and sent it. today the phone number is blocked for me. i cannot get to them. i think they blocked my number. i will try again tomorrow with a different phone. terrible service- they replaced a lock for me in December- now not working- when i called they said that there was a 90 day warranty- i asked them where this was written- never showed me and this was the first i ever heard of it. guy came out and told me that the lock that they supplied and installed was crap- and offered to put in a better one for 450 dollars. i said that i already spent upwards of $300 for this one. he said he would try to fix it for $125. - but it was my fault that i let the guy install the crappy lock in the first place. he called the office and i spoke to Sierra- who said that it was a 90 day warranty and he was already giving me a break on the price. i told her that i rarely use the door, and the lock that they installed isnt working- she said basically that i could take it up with the lock manufacturer. I asked the guy who was there if he would indicate that it was a faulty lock on the invoice so that i could pursue it with the manufacturer- he said no. i told him to leave- but he insisted on the $15 service call. i paid. i contacted the company and asked for an electronic copy of my invoice- waited 1.2 hr- called again- it was never sent, and interestingly the one that was emailed to me when the lock was originally instaled was deleted from the internet by the company. i called Weiser and the lovely woman walked me through changing the batteries- the company installed inferior ones to start with- and low and behold the lock is now working- with the only issue now that the original person installed the strike plate a little off so the dead bolt does not go easily into place. definitely will never use this company again.!!! read more
