Avoid this place at all cost....literally ! We showed up around 10:30am for breakfast and had the worst experience ever. They said they didn't have potatoes or hash-browns but can still do Mexican breakfast. We went ahead and got Mexican breakfast and asked the waiter to do bacon since they were out of hash browns and potatoes, and they said yes and didn't mention a up charge. We later got up charged for the bacon $2.00 a plate. Ordered 4 cups of coffee they were making fresh, apparently they don't use filters here because all of our cups were full of coffee grounds still. I ordered barbacoa plate which was not good at all And I asked for green salsa which should be included in every Mexican dish and of course I got up-charged for green salsa lol. We ordered enchiladas with ground beef and apparently they use cheese only instead of any meat. Best breakfast burrito I've ever had! I added potatoes, eggs, and bacon on top of what it comes with already. It was stuffed and toasted to perfection. Not messy at all either if you're on the road. The creamy green salsa is a must as well to top it off. Used to stop here years ago passing through for college and will be making it a regular stop again. DO NOT go here! Horrible customer service. The cook had a long beard and didn't have a beard net on! We ordered a quesadilla and pollo asada, our quesadilla had a small hair on it, and it was CURLY, I don't know what it was but it was disgusting. Our pollo asada had a FRIED FLY. We told the server they didn't say anything, no sorry no nothing. We were waiting to get the food made again or at least get it for free but they didn't do anything! We were just passing through on our way back to Seattle and had a sudden craving for street style tacos. A quick Yelp search showed us that Checo's was the only place that was open in the middle of the afternoon and luckily had great reviews on top of it. We were seated quickly and were served chips and salsa right away - the salsa was good but it'd be even better if the chips were warmed. I ordered the barbacoa tacos (an order of 5 tacos comes with a side of charro beans, which were really tasty). While we were waiting there was a group of elderly folks at the table next to us who complained about them not having Mexican Coke, so if that's a must for you then fair warning. Tacos were served on a double layer of corn tortillas, and boy did they hit the spot! The craving was satisfied. I had originally tried to order the al pastor tacos but they didn't have it, so I hope the next time I find myself out that way I can swing by and try them (or at least leave full off barbacoa tacos again). Not bad. Othello has a ton of Mexican restaurants but none of them appear to have morning hours but Checos. I was settled with a bean and cheese burrito. It wasn't bad at all but not exactly no frills either. Definitely suitable though. Steve got more of an involved dish which had eggs and lots of other food which amounted to be quite the platter but what he ordered I liked a bit more. Service was pretty good and it was always friendly. Not a bad place to go if you're driving through and need to get a bite. read more

This is my go to spot for me & my Partner. The service can be slow at times, they are a little family restaurant during Covid times. They are always very pleasant, & want to keep you happy. The food is fabulous! Very fresh, from scratch. Do yourself a favor & order the charro beans. I crave them. We usually order the 'platter for 2' with pork. Absolutely fantastic. Add a side salad. This was bland Mexican food. I ended up throwing most of it away. I do like that they have a drive thru but you either call ahead to place your order, which is what I would recommend or you order at the window. I sat behind someone way too long and ended up parking to go inside. There is no menu board with a speaker you order from, this is not fast food read more

This is a restaurant with an identity problem. From the outside it appears to be a traditional sit down restaurant which claims to have "Authentic Mexican" food. But operates as a fast food place. It fails as either as the food is not authentic , and the service is not fast. They have a large shiny Denny's style menu with much to choose from. Some high priced, glad I chose something inexpensive as the food here is average or below. I ordered the 3 tilapia taco plate $9.99 and munched on chips , salsa and bean dip while waiting. No napkins on the table or in site, as a waitress passed by I asked and got some. Again confusing, as you are seated like a traditional restaurant but pay at the counter like a fast food place. And they have a drive thru window which seems to be non functional. The Tacos came out in a reasonable time. Breaded dry fish overcooked on tortillas with a very small amount of chopped cabbage and a pile of yellow rice. I tried the rice and noticed an unfamiliar flavor, it wasn't bad but synthetic tasting. I like Mexican rice and all rice dishes but not this one. It was edible though so I continued on. The tacos were dry without flavor I spooned some salsa on and doused the rice with Tapatio, which helped. It's surprising to me this place stays open and is adding on. Next time in Othello for a meal I will go elsewhere. read more

Chico's is one of those gems that we'll return to. Grab coffee in Pullman, then take a break for lunch here on our way west. The food is great! Enchiladas were so authentic, service very fast. People are kind and considerate, dining room so clean and welcoming. read more

Found this family owned restaurant during a rest/food stop on the way from the Eastside to the Westside. Service was very friendly, and we were checked on frequently. However, if being honest, the food was not as good as I thought it would be. I had a taco combination plate. I was wanting to split the tacos and try more than one meat. Although they didn't allow me to, so I did a swap and trade with a friend of mine who also ordered a taco combo plate. The Al Pastor was very dry, and definitely did not meet my craving. The chicharron was very good though!!! It came with a side of refried beans and spanish rice. The rice was not great, and had an "instant rice" taste to it. The refried beans and salsa were very good however. Since it was only a random stop on my road trip, I probably won't be back. read more

The service here is SUPER SLOW!!!! We were seated quickly but it took 15 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. Then the person who takes our drink order says she's not the person taking our food order. We wait 10 more minutes to get our drinks and then an additional 5 minutes for someone to take our order. On the plus side our food did arrive in 20 minutes like promised. But we didn't have any silverware or napkins and our table included 5 kids. Who doesn't bring napkins immediately with a table of 6 kids??? The food was decent. Not stellar not disgusting. The bathroom smelled disgusting and my kids wouldn't use it. This is a clean dry place to get out of the rain for lunch. Everybody was nice, but... The young man running the place is just way too casual. He has his shirt unbuttoned too far with a hairy chest and large gold chain sticking out. He calls you "bro". He sits in the dining room eating and laughing loudly with his friend. Eh. They don't have a full liquor license...so no margaritas with your Mexican food, which is just...weird. You can have any of the many beers on their menu, though...oh wait, they have been out of everything except xyz and abc every time I've been there, so you can have your choice of the 2 or 3 worst beers on their menu. haha! The salsa tastes like canned tomatoes. There are a few visible onions in it, but it is mostly just tomato. Definitely doesn't taste like salsa or any sort of facsimile of salsa, which is kind of the mark of a good Mexican restaurant. Beyond that, the food has been ok--not great, not bad, ok--each time we have visited this place. A bit pricy for what you get, and certainly a few bucks more per plate than comparable places where you can have a margarita. ;) haha! Last night they refilled my husband's soda without asking and then charged him for a second one..which is fine, but don't automatically assume someone wants more of something if they have to pay for it, ya know? We were also part of a larger party and the waitress didn't bother to ask if we wanted the check split up or if it was all together, she just gave it to us all together, so we had to leave together and work it out at the counter when we paid (this is not a "your server will be your cashier" kind of place, btw). For what it's worth, they do have an extensive American menu, and a large breakfast menu. Strangely enough I usually come here for a burger and curly fries:) Extremely family friendly. Obviously an older fast food building refurbished as a sit down Mexican restaurant with a drive thru (such things don't exist where I come from). My fiancé and I don't have kids, but I appreciate how easily they accommodate groups with "little ones". Not traditional Mexican food, but not a chain style like I'm used to seeing on the Coast. It's comfortable, the food is 88% delicious, and for some reason coming here just makes me happy. read more
