Where to begin here. I'll start by saying I used to frequent this restaurant weekly when I was younger ( yes that was 10-15 years ago) but this place really seemed to have fallen from grace. We got Mongolian beef, beef lo mein, and chicken fried rice. I'll just say everything was very bland. The fried rice tastes burnt almost, the lo mein was soupy pasta with bland beef. The Mongolian beef had the most flavor but was still very bland and the sauce was broken and soupy. Service was fine, staff was friendly. The place seems to have fallen upon rough times as the whole place is shut down, and they are down to four tables only. Place was a bit dirty too. I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

Went here for the first time and got take out. I only have 1 word to describe this place, GOATED. The food is awesome, we got the sweet and sour chicken, it was so crispy and delectable! this used to be a great local Chinese restaurant. Now they have no indoor seating. The fried rice was decent. But the almond chicken had way too much batter. it tasted like it was cooked in old grease that left after taste. Very sad as I used to be from this area and always look forward to stopping by on my travels. Apparently they must have a new owner. I would not recommend it all. read more

Ordered sweet and sour pork and when I got home it was chicken. The past owners did a much better job. You received pineapple and carrot slices with your takeout container including soy sauce packets. Our meal included sweet and sour sauce, chicken, not pork, and no soy sauce, pineapple or carrots. Hope they improve but I think we will give it some time. read more

One of my all time favorite Chinese places, ever and anywhere. Their orange chicken is my favorite. It is fried perfectly with just the right amount of breading and good quality chicken. The fried rice is very flavorful and not mushy. The egg rolls are awesome. And the service is so friendly and efficient. I love this place! read more

This is probably my go to for Chinese in Davison. The people are always friendly here and greet us with a smile. This atmosphere of this place was very weird and border line creepy. It felt like we were eating as a guest in someones house. The food was served on what looked like 1980's tv dinner trays. When we got our food the eggroll smelled funny. Once I bit into it, it tatse like dirt. The general tso sauce was what you would get from the grocery store. Same thing with the sesame chicken sauce my wife ordered. It also tatse like it was microwaved. We took a couple bites of each thing, then got up and left. We tried to tell them the food tatse bad, but the language barrier did not help the situation. So we paid 22.00 and left hungry. I would not recommend this place. read more

We ate here for the 1st time. The food was cooked to order so it was nice and fresh when we arrived home. Our meals were large but lacking a punch. Run of the 'meal' food. "Chee Kong, Help You?" They are located in the practically vacant Davison Plaza on State Street, back behind the Apollo Coney Island building. I've never been disappointed with the Chinese food I've ordered from Chee Kong. It's always been delicious and plentiful. I wish they delivered. The food at Chee Kong in Davison is excellent, though a bit pricey. The service is usually good, but it nearly always takes too long for the food to come out. They only give you one free refill on your drink, which bucks the going trend and seems like a cheap shot, given how expensive their food is to begin with. The worst part about Chee Kong is the two TV monitors that hang overhead in the main part of the dining room. I take my family to restaurants to get away, and don't appreciate having CNN and Headline News blaring as I try to connect to my wife and kids. "Yes, I'll have almond boneless chicken, an egg roll, and news of the latest mass murder, please." If you love Chinese food and think the biggest problem with most Chinese restaurants is that you can't get your news fix as you enjoy dinner, then Chee Kong is the place for you. If you go to restaurants to enjoy a different atmosphere than what you might get at home, or say at McDonald's, you might think about going somewhere else. read more

UPDATE: I had to downgrade from 5 to 3 stars after going to Chee Kong for dinner. The appetizers and soup were still excellent, and I was not sorry I ate more of them than I should. The problem was the prices and quality of entrees! $12 for some chicken lo mein is ridiculously steep! I ordered the $13 "sizzling" entree with chicken, shrimp, and Chinese BBQ pork. It was most definitely NOT sizzling when it arrived at my table. In fact, the vessel it was served in was filled with milky liquid, and the proteins had the texture and appearance of being boiled. The veggies were waterlogged and soggy. The flavor wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. Combined with the texture and un-sizzle, I wasn't impressed and did not finish even half the entree. I also did not bring it home. My son did finish his $12 chicken lo mein, so I assume it was tasty, but you can get good lo mein for $7 or less in plenty of places. My husband had the sesame chicken, which looked lovely, though surprisingly sparse on the sesame seeds. He enjoyed it and said he would order it again. The fried rice was puzzling. It looked like brown-stained rice and had neither texture nor flavor I would expect from fried rice. We'll go back because the appetizers are absolutely worth it, and I will try some other entrees to see if I can find a couple that are satisfactory. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We chose this place and didn't have many expectations, but hallelujah!!!!! This is the first Chinese restaurant we've walked out of not feeling disappointed since moving to the Flint area 9 months ago! The egg rolls are practically a religious experience!!!! We just shared an appetizer platter, 2 egg rolls, and we each got a bowl of soup. The egg drop soup was the best I'd ever had! Considering the price for the food I found this restaurant lacking. The food tasted alright but the amount of meat in the Pepper Steak and Broccoli and Beef lunch specials was entirely too small. I've never before eaten Chinese food and still been able to eat more afterwards. Also, the menu seemed quite limited in comparison to other Chinese food restaurants I've visited in the past. The food here is EXCELLENT! Finding a good "Chinese" restaurant is always super duper risky. I found this place a while back and the previous owner took a little to warm up to but after that she was fantastic. The new owners are easy to warm up to but need some guidance on how to run a restaurant. Was there on a weekend and it was not busy maybe one other table occupied but there were dirty dishes on several other tables. It was not like there wasn't any time for someone to clean them up and there were several tables that were covered in dishes. NOTE TO NEW OWNERS: When customers leave, CLEAN the DISHES off of the table......... pretty simple. If the previous owner walked in to visit there would be hell to pay........she ran a tight ship and needs to give the family a little direction. read more

The food was good, the egg drop soup was warm not hot. I ordered general tso's and got sweet and sour. The egg rolls were good. My glass never got refilled. The place was empty at 6:30 on a Saturday night so seating was not an issue. Over all it was good, nothing to write home about. If you live close OK but don't drive in for it. read more

Almond boneless and sweet and sour chicken are my favorites. I also love their egg rolls and plum sauce. Their soups are good too. They get you in/out really fast during lunch time. Last time I went I was already starting to eat less than 5 min after I sat down and was on my way out the door within 20 mins. Great place to go if you're in a hurry and want great food. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because if you ask for extra sauces or drinks you may have to ask more than once and they charge quite a bit for extras. There have been times the service wasn't the best-- but I do love their food and the owners are very nice. I think they have had trouble finding good help... which isn't so uncommon these days. read more

Having eaten here in the distant past, we remembered it as being okay, solid Chinese food. But now! It's so fresh, delicious and flavorful with generous portions. The food here was ok but i am very disappointed with the service. I asked for a side of cream and the waitress brought me a glass of Cream and charged me $2.65 for it even though it was not what i wanted. Then she refused to give me a bill and just wrote the total on a piece of paper and i thought that was fishy. So i asked for a receipt and she said they didn't have any. It appeared to me she was pocketing the money so i payed with the credit card. She charged me for just my meals and asked me to leave her $3.00 extra in the tip section to cover my milk (that i did not want) i said id just pay cash for it (to be nice) and she took my money but didn't put it in the draw. Well, I walked in to order to go and ordered my go to Chinese dish, sweet n sour chicken, and was told it would be 15-20 minutes. I walked to my car and realized that I did not order the correct thing because the was a dinner order that included rice and a egg roll. I called the store to let them know I actually wanted the dinner order, she said OK and hung up on me! I just ate my food and it was decent, with a very small portion of rice. My daughter noticed this place as she frequents the nearby Biggby coffee shop. Decided to give it a try and glad we did. The decor is modest and doesn't leave one to expect a lot, but the freshness and flavor of the meal left us pleasantly surprised. The service was attentive, and the waiter noticed we both ordered vegetarian dishes and alerted us to the fact that one of the soups we chose (which comes with the entree) was chicken-broth based. Entrees also include a large and tasty egg roll. All food was delivered to the table piping hot. The only complaint is that we never received the requested chopsticks. This food is HORRIBLE!!!!The vegetable fried rice is over cooked and looks like oatmeal. I found some strange long stringy meat items in the shrimp with lobster sauce, which I've eaten from countless restaurants across the country for over 20 years, so I'm very familiar with what is SUPPOSED to be in this dish.
