Essentially, I got six…read moremonths and during that time period, Beejay Brooks (my trainer) got me into pretty decent shape from a guy who looks like he's written 1620 Yelp reviews. Give that man a hand! That was some hard ass work. Speaking of work, Beejay had an excellent eye for determining whether you were at peak levels or whether you needed a day with a bit less intensity. He definitely gave a lot of attention to your macros and diet (far more than anyone I've worked with in the past). He's very no nonsense and that's probably not for everyone. If you aren't going to put in the hard work to manage your diet, you will fail and he will let you know it. But if you put in the work, you'd be very hard pressed to find a better trainer in San Antonio (I did work with some of the other trainers at Hasfit and I got to say they were all stellar). Overall, you are going to have to spend some coin (I was at just under $500/month) but when you start seeing the results of that spent money, you aren't going to miss it. You're going to be thankful for the transformative experience as you become fitter and healthier.

I was a bit nervous about going to a personal trainer given my "advanced" age, past injuries, and limited experience in that environment; but she has been so encouraging and creative in providing me SAFE and EFFECTIVE sessions. She is so adept at working with all ages, abilities and personal goals (including competitive ventures). She also discusses nutrition to enhance her clients' progress toward being the best they can be. In all, I recommend Rosa Albright as the best personal trainer around.

It's exactly the vibe I look for in a gym: a classic, no bullsh**, weights clangin and bangin, full of people who are putting in genuine hard work. Immediately upon arrival a member helped us locate the owner, Roger, who got us set up with some day passes. That alone blew me away because out here, anyone would have just let us look around lost. I'm getting really bad with names but if she's reading this I want her to know she's so appreciated. Roger was also awesome. He checked in on us once we were settled, chatted with us about what we were doing in San Antonio, and gave us recommendations for surrounding neighborhoods (we were there to check out homes for potentially moving). I always appreciate gym owners who take the time to get to know the people working out with them. It gives you that level of connection you miss out on with commercial gyms. The gym itself is not your fancy commercial gym. It's the same gym it has been the whole time with classic machines, dumbbells, racks, etc. There's plenty of room for a decent amount of people to be there at the same time and still get a great workout in. I'm telling you, if you're in San Antonio, and you want a place where you can put in genuine hard word, go to Joe's. Coming to this gym was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Texas and I am so excited to go back!

His coaches are very professional, hard working, knowledgable, and are machines. Celeste is one of the coaches there and first off, she is in a constant beast mode. This chic puts the dudes to shame! The other coaches are great too (Curtis, Jesse, Alex, I'm sure I am missing a few). The athletes that crush WOD's at CFL are motivating, friendly, and welcoming. Every time I am in San Antonio, I visit every day I can. They also have a smoothie bar, you can purchase supplements, and apparel there too. So you're probably thinking why I only gave it four out of five stars. Well, when I attend a CF box, I expect filacio and to be doing lines of blow off of strippers asses. Unfortunately, this does not happen at CFL, but I have been told my requests will be accommodated. I would even accept doing blow off of hot chic CF athletes, but call me crazy!

Being a garage gym guy I needed to see how I would fare in the daily competitive environment that boxes offer (you just can't get that working out alone or with one friend most of the time). While I have nothing negative to say about any of the gyms I dropped into, I do have much to rave about when it comes to CFL. Facility and equipment: Pretty straightforward here. They have all the equipment you need for a CrossFit gym. They have it and they have a lot of it. You won't be sharing bars or looking for space on a wall, blah, blah.. The facility itself is quite large and this is important when it comes to safety with large groups and the intense nature of CF workouts. Let me add that I've witnessed regular cleaning and maintenance of this facility and equipment. Oh, and there are 4 restroom/showers, a kids room, a separate kitchen area, and an entirely separate room where I would hide when I just wanted to do my own thing and avoid the hard work (thank you Jason). Parking is plentiful. Programming: Never had a bad thing to say about the programming. I am a Physical Therapist (selfless plug) and although I do not adhere to smart practices all the time, I can confidently say that programming here is competent enough that risk from overuse, or consecutive days of doing the same thing, just wasn't present. There was always a dynamic warm up that was relevant to the metcon and just enough strength and skill work to keep you maintained (if you want to be better then you def have to do more but most gyms will tell you that anyway). There is a ton more that I can add however I'm halfway through writing a novel now and I have a few more items to touch on. Coaches: Loved 'em all. Responsible and approachable. I'd say I made some of my best friends at this gym (not biased at all). If you've been part of a box before, you know there is always turnover in this area but I would argue that this is a good thing. New opinions and new flavors help growth. Owners: Jason is a motivator. You'll hate him, you'll love him, whatever. He won't let you quit without a push. He will help you find a new you. He didn't help me because I avoided him most of the time (I'm lazy, and arrogant). In all seriousness, I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am to have met Jason and his family, so I won't. You'd have to drop in and formulate your own opinions. I look forward to training or pcs'ing to San Antonio again for many reasons. These guys are one of those reasons. Hope you lasted through this review, trust me it could have been longer...

I'm not just saying that because I completely transformed my…read morebody with the help of San Antonio Fit For For Life AND won a CAR in the process (keep reading until the end to hear more about the car)! I'm saying it because it's the BEST fitness program out there and is the best decision that I've made! Here's a little background: I first found out about this program from a close friend. I noticed that she was looking better than ever and asked what her secret was. Clean eating, a positive mindset, and the BEST fitness trainer was her response. My curiosity was peaked so I decided to check this place out for myself. I met the owner/ trainer, Nate Dilworth, who offered me a trial session to see if the program was right for me. Little did I know how much Nate was about to change my life. I began my fitness journey in May 2011 and I'm still going strong. About the program: This program isn't for everyone. When I say that, I really mean it. The trial session wasn't just to see if the program was right for me, it was also to see if I was right for the program. The main things that the owner looks at when accepting new clients are: 1.) A positive mindset and positive attitude. 2.) The true desire to do what it takes to get fit. 3.) A no excuses, only solutions way of thinking. If you can make it through the trial session without giving up, being negative, or coming up with excuse after excuse for not wanting to do the exercises, then you might make the cut. (Yes, they will modify exercises if need be due to a prior injury/surgery.) The owner is very selective, he wants all of his clients to be successful and have a positive workout environment. This program is not a quick fix by any means, It's a lifetime lifestyle change. This is how the program works: They provide a diet plan for you to follow and provide challenging workout sessions. If you follow the diet plan accordingly, you WILL have AMAZING results! Just in the first two weeks alone, the average person loses between 5 and 15 pounds. I lost 14 pounds within the first two weeks. Basically, if you put in the work and follow the diet plan perfectly, you WILL experience an incredible transformation. I must warn you, this is a positive energy only zone. They don't tolerate negative attitudes or negative talk. You must be willing to keep your mindset positive while taking part in the program. You must also hold yourself accountable. I love the program so much that I plan on being a lifetime member! My journey hasn't been easy, I had my setbacks here and there but I overcame them and I'm now looking better than ever. I'm so much happier, healthier, and sexier because of my decision to become a member. The program has truly changed my life for the better! Oh, and for those that are curious about my comment about winning a car, it's absolutely true! I mention this last because the main goal for joining this fitness program should be for your health and not the car..... although it's a pretty sweet added bonus! The additional rewards for getting fit at San Antonio Fit For Life: Every quarter they give out CASH prizes and award one well deserved client a brand new CAR! The winners are based on a points system that are determined by weight loss, accountability, referrals, and team work. If you feel that this program is right for you and you believe that you have what it takes to achieve your best body ever, send them a message either here on Yelp or on their Facebook page to get your transformation journey started.

Tough and effective. You'll be challenged and will sacrifice your old lifestyle for transformation…read more Stick to the plan and impressive weight loss and muscle gain will be the result. Secret sauce: You 'must' be mentally prepared to be, do and live differently.
