Powerhouse Gymnastics has been such a blessing for our family. Brooke has been attending since she was just 3 years old, and now at 6, she's proudly on the trampoline and tumbling team. Watching her grow here has been incredible. Coach Grace has been so patient and intentional with Brooke, truly serving as an amazing mentor both in and out of the gym. Coach Nina is wonderful as well -- both coaches genuinely care about their athletes and it shows. The front desk staff is always kind, organized, and quick to respond to any questions we have, which makes everything run so smoothly. This gym has helped our daughter grow tremendously in the sport of gymnastics, but even more importantly, it has built her confidence. On Fridays this gymnastics place offers open gym from 11:30-12:30pm, and upon arrival the staff was not polite they were very stand off to not only me but to another mother who was there for the open gym. Open gym part was fun but the children weren't actually allowed to play until 11:40am. So 10 minutes of waiting to be let into the area & then instructions which I don't mind but I just feel like these rules could have been mentioned earlier and not during their time to roam around. The only time I really saw any of the ladies being nice was when they saw a a student who was a member. We will try this place out again, but I'll be looking around for a place with friendlier staff. read more

Daughter has been going here for two years! Teachers / coaches are highly attentive and great with the kiddo's. We enjoy it so much we even had our daughter's birthday party here last year. Our only gripe is that even if the kids promote quickly due to high performance we've been on a two month waiting list for her to advance due to coach availability. The staff at this gym has not been polite or Have showed courtesy at all. I have tried to get my daughter in twice and my messages are disregarded by the front office and I recently called again and it was a very nonchalant attitude when I stated that I called two weeks ago. Statement I received was " well level 2 is full and we are a popular gym" now I am Uninterested in my daughter joining this gym regardless of how much closer it is to my house. BEWARE: THEY LOST MY CHILD, At first glance it looked like they had everything under control but when my daughter was instructed to put on her shoes she wandered to the front door where she had seen her classmate go and just walked right through the front inside door by herself. The coach only had 5 kids under her possession, I don't believe it's hard to keep track of just 5 toddlers. I thank the mothers who cared for her until we went to the front. This happen in a span of 3 minutes from when we walked from the second floor to the first, we were waiting for our daughter at the the door by the end of the food bar because that's where the coach was at. They have no accountability towards their students, I pray nothing bad happens to any of the children under their possession. read more

Look at the reviews they hide & notice the common theme. All people do not complain about the same things and it not be true. Clearly a unfriendly culture is a normal standard and that can be ok for them...but not for the membership paying world. We don't ask to be treated like royalty, just common courtesy as human beings! My daughter has been coming here for several years. It's a hobby and not competitive for her so she is enjoying it, plus it gives her a fun physical activity. Staff is nice and facility is clean. My only gripe is sometimes they "warm up" for 15 min and class lets out about 5 min so I feel like she loses out on about 20 min (sometimes not all the time). Powerhouse is a state-of the-art gym! They offer girls competitive teams, boys/mens teams, extensive classes, Tumbling and Trampoline and even Open Gym times. They have an on-site store which sells gear, leotards and athletic clothing and even a "50's themed" cafe (concession stand) which sells food and also has vending machines. We initially really loved PH when we first joined. Our two daughters were enrolled and very active. Our oldest daughter was on the cheer team and we also paid for weekly private lessons with Coach Pentcho. Our middle daughter has been in the bronze TNT classes for nearly two years. There is a very high turnover rate with coaches, and that gets aggravating. Our daughters TNT class had about half a dozen different coaches over the time we were there so it makes it very difficult for kids to develop as athletes when they basically start over every few months with a new coach. The cheer program was new, so we didn't expect to win much and knew there would be growing pains - however, the lack of clear communication from the owners, Jill and David, is a large reason (certainly not the only reason) that the cheer team was abruptly disbanded before the season ended. The cheer coaching was ok, inconsistent and not as clean as I would have liked and the head coach seemed to be very overwhelmed with a sever lack of help given that assistant coaches changed frequently. Coach Pentcho however, is worth EVERY dollar spent and very knowledgeable and we were 5 star happy with him. When our team returned from the NCA competition in Dallas, us parents received an email that they would be combining the 4 teams into one large team for the remainder of the season (Mini Level 1; Youth Level 1; Junior Level 2; and Senior Level 2). We parents were not given any explanation as to why this decision was made, the practice schedule changed and then a few days later received another email stating PH was increasing the already pricey monthly tuition (it's the highest monthly tuition in the San Antonio area for competitive cheer). Obviously, a majority of parents were very upset and decided to start with withdrawing their daughters as this move really showed the lack of knowledge that the owners have of the All-Star cheer world. It's very different from gymnastics - you don't just combine teams that have not been practicing together for an entire season, 3 of the teams don't know the routine - and they were expected to travel to Orlando and perform well?? They also automatically disqualified some girls because of age from the newly created team. Once the last email went out about tuition, I was there the next morning with the intention of withdrawing our daughter and the owner, Jill walked in. I did have the opportunity to speak with her one on one and explained why so many of us parents were upset, she proceeded to inform me of multiple parents that were actually past due on their accounts and the cheer program was actually losing her money. From a business stand point - I totally get that. However, the situation as a whole was handled so piss poorly and it was made very clear that Every cheer family was no longer wanted at this gym. Families that have been with PH for YEARS felt forced out. I was actually called later on to verify that I was also withdrawing our other daughter, I was surprised and caught off guard so I answered 'well I guess I am if that's what the gym wants'. If you're looking for an open and honest gym, that is straight forward about information - this is NOT the place for you. Clearly the coaches and owners did not communicate with each other or with parents thus leaving a very sour taste and reputation in the Cheer community - and word certainly spreads quickly! Lastly, whomever thought it was a professional and good decision to announce on social media the disbanding of the team - just WOW....what a lack of respect and professionalism. read more

We were at Powerhouse TnT Gymnastics for 2.5 years. The best explanation I can give, is that it's like a cult but you don't know it's a cult until you've been set free. You think everything going on is normal because you don't know any better and you're distracted by the big, bright, and shiny gym. Communication was horrible from the start so what followed shouldn't have been a surprise. They boast about open communication but whenever you ask any questions you get told you can leave if you don't like it. From programs being cut without any notification, prices increasing but the hours being cut, changing the practice time without notifying me and leaving my daughter sitting at the gym waiting to be picked up without so much as a phone call from anyone, and on and on over the course of 2.5 years. The final straw was when they refused to abide by the USAG Safe Sport Policy, specifically the rule about how parents can not be banned from viewing practice otherwise alternative viewing options must be provided for parents. They claim they had no choice due to Covid19 to not allow parents inside the gym during practice which directly violates the Safe Sport Policy. This rule protects both the coaches and the children and USAG was clear that this rule was still in effect during the shutdown. When I asked the owners what they planned to do to stay in compliance with the Safe Sport Policy I received an email from Jill stating I was no longer allowed inside the gym until further notice and David called me on the phone and screamed and yelled at me until I was sobbing. I was given an ultimatum; do as I'm told or leave. That was the last straw. We chose the latter. I refuse to pay a business that treats people this way. All they care about is money and more money. I have since received numerous messages from past customers and past employees, including coaches, that this was not an isolated incident and that there are many more Safe Sport policies they are breaking. This has gone on for years and we were just the latest victims. They threaten to kick your daughter off the team if you question them or step out of line and because we were so desperate for our child to stay and train with what we believed was the best, we shut up and put up with all their garbage. Well not anymore. We left Powerhouse a month ago and now our daughter is thriving, learning new skills everyday and is actually enjoying gymnastics again at her new gym. It was the best decision we could have ever made. We recently searched for reviews on Powerhouse through a Google search. They confirm everything I stated above if you can wade through all the reviews that their own staff writes for the gym. Do yourself a favor, get out while you can. You won't regret it. read more

We just finished observing classes to see whether or not to enroll our 9 year old son. Even before we made it to the observation deck the front desk staff we spoke with were completely clueless about anything. We still decided to go upstairs and watch the class that our son would possibly be in. Again front staff was clueless because all we got was " I think this or I think that", there was zero certainty on any questions we asked. We finally figured out what bronze class he would be in by ourselves just by watching. From the start, there wasn't any structure to the class and it finished with the the male coach with long hair and a female coach (which later found out she was the gym manager) taking the kids to the foam pits. They let the kids attempt to do back flips into the pit from an elevated pad as there were other kids just hanging around in the pit below them. I told my wife that something really bad could happen and sure enough one of the kids does a flip and ends up kicking another kid in the head that was sitting at the bottom of the pit the whole time. The kid grabs his head but neither couch moves to see if he's okay, after a minute the long haired male coach motions to the kid to come over and then pulls him out of the pit. Save your money and time this is not a safe, structured or serious place to take your kids to learn gymnastics. read more

My daughter has been in the Bronze Trampoline and Tumbling class as well as the Bronze artistic gymnastics class for about a month and has really been having a good time. Her coaches are nice and encouraging but also offer her good critiques to better her skills. The only downsides are it's a little expensive and they don't offer make up classes if your child misses a class. Other than that we have been pretty pleased with Powerhouse. read more

We started taking my daughter to the TNT bronze class a couple weeks ago annnnd she loves it!!! It's not too far from where we live. The staff is nice and it teaches the kids responsibility and taking ownership of themselves. I love watching my daughter learn and when class is over she just can't stop talking about it! read more
