We love to swim!! Three years ago I did the baby & me class with my daughter and it was great bonding time. My son hated it, guess it just depends on the kid. Now, my daughter is 4 and we are back twice a week! Obviously she did not retain anything, but we definitely did not have to start in that baby class again. The classes are kept small, the teachers are interactive and fun, and their program is fast paced. You're paying for lessons, not fun time - so I was glad to see that they pay close attention to the kids' progress so they can keep advancing them through the program to avoid dull, repetitive lessons. I get reports by email that tell me what she has accomplished. They do a great job of rewarding progress. I hope to send my son (now 2) as soon as he is out of his temper tantrum stage! read more

Emler Swim School of Huebner - Swimming Lessons/Schools Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Emler is ok. They do make their swim instructors get certified through Red Cross so they do not have their WSI making it much less safe to instruct. They have a basic lesson plan focused on moving children along at the same pace which is very bad for the development of children since they all learn at different paces. they do not do lesson plans like better places. I'd recommend just going somewhere else like lifetime that has instructors who are actually licensed. read more

We have been attending the water baby class on Saturdays with Ms.Bella and love the class and Ms.Bella. Ms.Bella does a great job explaining the exercises and purpose, as well as giving positive praises and helping understand how to help our little swimmer get stronger and better in the water. Our swimmer is so confident in the water, and loves the class. We have also made up a class with Ms.Jessica on Sundays and she was awesome too! Any concerns we have had, such as missing a class as brought up to the swim school and they worked with us in making up the class with a "make up token" that was free of charge. read more

I signed my 4 and 6 yo up for the daily beginner session. We went the 1st week and were told our instructor would no longer be available for the rest of our session. That's fine, we didn't have a problem with that situation. We had to reschedule our classes for twice a week for the next 3 weeks with 2 different instructors and boy, were they different. One was great and really paid attention to the skills they had and what they needed to practice. The other just went through their list, barely speaking to the kids in her group. I called a couple of times to voice my concerns and was told we'd have either a manager or the head trainer observe their next class. We got good feedback, but the lackluster instructor never changed and graduated both of my kids at the advanced beginner level. I can say for sure that my 4 yo cannot swim on his own from one point to the other. Not can my daughter keep herself up. That can't be right. The continuity of trainers is extremely lacking, and I feel at a beginner or advanced level, treading water should be a basic skill that is taught. We will not be going back to this establishment. read more

The Emler Swim School located on Huebner is SWIMTASTIC! My children have been attending Emler for two years now and absolutely love it. My children have been evaluated during each swim semester and have made such great progress in their swimming that we have enrolled in yet another swim year at Emler. And while watching my children swim at Emler allows for me to observe the teacher's swim techniques, approaches, and the quality of teacher-child interactions, in addition to ensuring my children's safety and class participation, observing them swim outside of Emler is a real phenomenon. We went to Aquatica this year and my children were like fishes in the water. They were fearless! Seeing them with such confidence in the water just reiterated to us the importance of swim lessons. My children's swim instructor is Roger and he is absolutely amazing with children! He is attentive to all of the children in his swim classes and creates such a fun learning atmosphere for the children which adds to the quality of instruction he provides. You get 30 minutes for swim instruction and Roger makes every minute count! The staff is amazing at Emler. Amanda, especially, is so personable and eager to help with any of our swim needs, making our entire family feel valued. This is extremely important to our family. It is so important to get your baby exposed to water early as this could be a life saving measure, especially in Texas as we are always by a pool, lake, river, etc. Emler's is a great way to introduce water to a baby and parent to train life saving skills like floating and how to exit a pool. I really appreciate how Emler's offers the "Bathtime Babies" class as early for 2-6 month olds FOR FREE!! Yes, read that again, FREE! All you have to do is pay the registration fee. I highly recommend this to all parents! Once the baby graduates to the "Waterbabies" class, class fees will begin but if you consider the fact that you get 4 months free, it's a pretty sweet deal. Another thing I love about Emler's is the indoor, heated pool facility so no matter how hot it cold (wait, is it ever cold here?) it is outside, you and your baby will be comfortable in the water. My daughter became an excellent swimmer because of this school. This is a skill that is worth investing in for you child. I am a very poor swimmer and have almost drowned twice, so I knew it was imperative for my daughter to learn. She had a bad experience a year into learning to swim and Coach Ashley helped her through it. My daughter went on to Love to Swim for 4 more years and even won multiple mini-swim meets. We have been taking our now 18 month old to tumble since she was 12 months old. She is one of the youngest in her class but really enjoys it. I like that she has kids just a bit older to look up to, both literally and figuratively. It is great for her developmentally to have those around her showing how to reach for her toes, wait in a line or wait patiently for her hand to be stamped at the end of class. The teachers are all kind and creative. Getting to the tumble room through the front desk area and then the swimming area is a hassle but not avoidable per the set up of the place. I find the equipment mostly satisfactory but the storage not so much. It is a challenge to have our toddler pay attention at times when all of the other items are out in the open but not in use. For instance, there is a large desk and a tall cabinet behind it that has enticing pom poms, foam darts, etc. A closed cabinet would solve many problems. On the other hand, it is a good learning experience that she can't always get what she wants. As far as the equipment, my 'mostly' satisfied is due to sharp and dangerous edges only being covered by totally removable foam items. While I know my kid may get bumped and bruised, these edges, along with knobs and bolts, are quite bulky and in an environment where kids are encouraged to tumble, really make me nervous. All in all though, we take her weekly and she loves it, she has gained a TON of skills. read more

After attending classes for a few weeks here there are things I really like and others I loathe about Love to Swim School. First off, every child must begin in "Baby and Me 1," regardless of age level (from what I was told) so the coach can gauge their skills. Baby and Me 1 is generally filled with 6 months to about 18 months, and requires the parent to be in the water. Also a note that all children under 4 must wear 2 reusable swim diapers at all times (no disposables) so plan on an extra $30 to the fees for those diapers. Love to Swim offers plenty of different time slots to fit with all different schedules, including after work and weekends. There are only 2 dressing areas with curtains that are good for changing children, but as an adult plan on changing in one of the bathrooms for more privacy. There are a few blue crates in the changing area where belongings can technically be stored, but I found this area to get wet. It would be MUCH better if they had a small wall of lockers or some better type of storage. I would just place my bag under a bench, but always kind of worried about it. The instructors are very well trained and utilize plenty of activities, songs, and props/toys to keep the kids attention. My issue is that the Baby and Me always had around 6 kids to a class (plus 6 parents) so it seemed crowded for the cost of the class. The other age groups had only about 3 kids per instructor. The only times I really felt like I had a true understanding of skill sets were the days that there were no shows and only about 3 of us in the class. At the end of the course I'm not really sure how much progress this level class teaches--at no fault of the instructors more so due to the crowding and time contraints. It averaged around $25 per class and while fun and entertaining for someone more serious it may be worthwhile to find a trained lifeguard/coach and pay a little bit more for one on one instruction. For the older ages this place may be great, but after being told we would have to register for Baby and Me 1 again I will sit this one out. read more

Last spring I was looking for swim lessons for my 2 grandchildren, ages 5 and 9. We had moved into a home with a pool and I wanted them to be safe. I called Emler to ask about appropriate classes. These kids love water but just needed some direction so I could feel more comfortable about them in our pool. Our 5 yo was placed in a Swimmers Class with a boy who was older with good swimming skills. Our 9 yo was placed in a Beginners Class with pre--schoolers who were afraid to put their faces in the water. We spoke to the management 4 times with no resolve of the issue. I spent almost $600 for these lessons! Both of my grandchildren were set up to have a negative experience for different reasons and management didn't seem to care. I don't usually write reviews but because I still feel frustrated by this experience, and the lack of sensitivity shown by this organization to my grandchildren, I felt driven to write this review. read more

We started off really enjoying the lessons but over time they decreased in value. The staff is friendly however new teachers and not being evaluated as frequently as needed led to my daughter spending months in the same class doing the same stuff over and over. I never she would protect the side stroke so well!! While I like the structure, the program when it is not operating efficiently is not ideal. I plan to take my daughter to a more private lesson with 1 adult and 2 kiddos for the same price. read more

Rain is her swim teacher and is a great teacher. She is so patient and establishes trust with the kids right away. Our daughter is now swimming underwater and jumping in the pool on her own. We are entirely grateful for the staff at Emler. My kids have continued their swim lessons during the COVID timeframe. At first I was hesitant about going back to the pool until we entered the doors and saw how serious they are taking preventative protocols. All adults and kids of certain ages are masked, socially distanced and class sizes are small to adhere to additional measures. Of all places we've visited during COVID, we feel the safest here. Both of my kids (6 and 10) take swim lessons here. I am very satisfied with the curriculum. The kids are learning well. They are excelling in their swim teams this summer, getting firsts in individual events. Kids who swim with the best forms in swim meets completed the Love to Swim curriculum. Their form is excellent. I recommend this school to all my friends. I have tried other 'schools' but their curriculum (if there is any) is below par compared to Love to Swim. I love Love to Swim. I found them after a massage next door when we were new to the area. The staff and coaches are great - totally approachable for any reason. They will also update me on my son's progress every few weeks or whenever I ask about it. Easy to work with for make up classes too! Prices are good and they offer a military discount. There is a date night once a month (cheaper than a sitter!) and it's a great way to enjoy a kid free evening while the littles swim and play. Parking can be tight in the immediate lot as it is shared with other businesses, but there is street parking and another large lot across the street so it is *not* a big deal if you can't park right out front. Lastly, LTS continuously shows appreciation for their families and I like that! 100% recommend. read more

I'll start out by noting that I came here for Adult Swim lessons. I did an online search for a place to do lessons and came across this school. I signed up and attended my first swim class. During the first class, I was put in a very small lane with 5 other beginner students. We bumped into each other and did not get full use of our time waiting for each other to pass. Furthermore, the pool is not deep enough to learn how to tread water if you're an adult, which is something I felt they should point out, since it is one of THE most important aspects of swimming to learn about as a beginner. I will say that the instructors were very patient. But they did not do an initial assessment to see where my skill level was because there were so many of us. I was very disappointed with the use of this space for adult lessons. After the first lesson, I felt the space was inadequate for me to meet my swim goals (mainly learning how to tread water). I asked about being refunded for the remaining lessons since I would not be able to learn what I'd planned to. (They make you pay for each month in advance, 30 days cancellation). They denied my request for a partial refund, even though the facilities are not adequate for adults and I expressed my concern after the first lesson. It looks like it could be a good place for children, but I wouldn't take lessons here as an adult! read more

So many stuff u can not walk with out touching or bumping with some one. The sits are taken and the changing rooms also get filled. They is not a shower area. My daughter has taken swim lessons here since she. Was 9 months old. I have always been extremely satisfied and have really seen my child blossom and gain confidence in swimming. Testing happens on a regular schedule but the coaches are always willing to talk about progress. They also give hints on working with your child on skills outside of class. Overall, every member of the staff is great and patient with the kids. I can tell they really believe in the mission. Within the last year doors replaced the curtains on the changing areas which is much better. For children under 4, two cloth swim diapers are required but you are given one when you sign up. You can purchase the other at the swim store or on your own. I didn't compare prices, but you may be able to find a better deal online. We have also taken advantage of the day after thanksgiving camp. My daughter adored it and frequently asks when she can do it again. read more

I wish I could give them more than five stars! My kids have been swimming here for awhile and they have made tremendous progress. The best part is that all of their learning has been done with constant LOVE and encouragement from the coaches, which makes my kids want to go even more. (I've had friends who've put their kids in the ISR program that is very strict and often scares children such that they don't want to swim at all. This is the complete opposite!) The coaches are approachable when I have questions about my children's progress and do a great job of celebrating my kids their accomplishments. You can tell the coaches want to be there with the children and want them to succeed. I love the focus on water safety, especially for my youngest. My daughter started tumbling lessons about 8 months ago and can't wait to go each week. The tumbling coaches are also patient and encouraging which has been wonderful since she did not have prior gymnastics experience. My son attends the Love to Learn Preschool one day a week and loves learning in such an active, positive environment. The staff is always helpful and the coaches have become like family to us. My kids beg to go to Date Night every month because they see kids from their swimming, tumble and preschool classes, as well as their coaches. Our kids are having fun and we feel good that our kids are learning important skills and having a blast at the same time! All around great environment! read more

We had to move from Texas, but LTS taught me what to look for in a swim school. I'm picky now. And my 13 year old who graduated from LTS with a trophy, took junior life guard class this year.
