We got to see an active dairy farm, saw the calves being fed, and saw where the cows get milked. We also went to see a goat farm and saw a baby goat being born right in front of us. Alex, the guide, was lovely and super accommodating. My husband had hurt his ankle just the night before and couldn't walk much, and she made last-minute arrangements for him to be taken around by a golf cart-like vehicle on the farms. Would 100% recommend!

Our tour began at Cowgirl Creamery where we had an excellent assortment of pastries from local bakeries and local cheeses. We learned quite a bit about different types of cheese and how they're made. We visited Hog Island Oyster company and enjoyed fresh and barbecued oysters while learning about how oysters reproduce and are harvested. We then stopped off at The Marshall Store for lunch. The food was outstanding and abundant and the scenery looking out on Tomales Bay was breathtaking. We then visited the Heidrun Meadery (another stop with a breathtaking view and setting) and learned about bee keeping and how meade is produced from honey. And we enjoyed sampling a nice variety of meade wines. Our last stop was Little Wing Farm where we learned about organic, sustainable farming and saw a nice variety of vegetables and beautiful flowers. One of the highlights was visiting the expansive quail pen, watching the quails freely roam around and seeing how they spray a dye on their eggs to help camouflage them. This tour was a treat for our eyes and stomaches and filled our heads with fascinating information. It was a day so well spent and truly memorable for our family.

I have visited family in Sonoma for 20+ years, but I learned more about Sonoma and dining options around Sonoma Square on Mia's tour than I ever knew before. We tried cheeses, sausages, Mexican food, olive oil, balsamic vinegars, chocolate, and more as we visited various businesses around and near the Square. Plus, we got a history lesson along the way too! My friends and I had planned to go on this tour in 2020, but Covid shut everything down. I am so happy that the tour is back up and running, so be sure to book your spots now before it fills up. FYI- Covid protocols are in place on this tour, so bring a mask. I would highly recommend this tour if you're a first-time, or even a regular visitor, to the area. As someone who doesn't drink, don't let that stop you! I was pleased to be offered other tasty beverage options on the tour too. Mia is a fantastic guide who is full of pep, knowledge, and great insight into things to taste and see in Sonoma. I will definitely be back!

Their team does a great job bringing people together over a variety of stories and snacks of the sweet and savory kind. Lots of wine, cheese, and chocolate. Also - could Abby be MORE FUN?! I think NOT! A few of my favorites were the sparkling margaritas and stories about the quarry and cobblestones you still see today in San Francisco.

There is the perfect amount of walking and eating on this tour. I highly recommend these tours for anyone visiting Petaluma who is interested in 1) our history, 2) seeing the sights of downtown, 3) meeting our wonderful restaurant owners, and 4) tasting our restaurateurs' culinary delights. In the interest of full disclosure, I write the Food & Drink section of the Petaluma Argus- Courier and they will end up paying for my attendance of this tour. But, I get to choose what I write about so my choice to write an article about Petaluma Food Tours (and my choice to write a Yelp Review) is purely based on the fact that I think they are offering a unique (and tasty) product. I only write about people and businesses that I think contribute to our unique community so if I didn't think Petaluma Food Tours did just that, I wouldn't be writing about them here or in an upcoming issue of the Argus.

I loved how much communication you got about the experience beforehand via email. Definitely read those emails as you will know where to park, etc. Each restaurant had a different feel/vibe and totally different food. That really helped us to experience all that the downtown area had to offer. In some places, the owner or proprietor would come out and give a short spiel. In others, we were left to enjoy the company of our newly-made friends. Although I didn't have any food restrictions, Rooted Fork does honor them and we had 4 people on our tour who did have certain restrictions, including 2 vegetarians. Unfortunately it seemed that some of the restaurants didn't understand. In one place, the 2 vegetarians were served heaping plates of fish. The funny thing is that's not what everyone else was served so this means they prepared these fish dishes specifically for people who do not eat fish. Thankfully, once explained to the servers a few times over, they brought out alternate dishes for these folks. If you are new to the area, this is a really fun way to get the lay of the land and figure out where you might want to have dinner.

Patty, the tour guide spoke about the history and her Peruvian partner's substantial impact on the business. She led us down the road to see the chickens, pigs, and goats and encouraged us to peek through the window of the factory, though it was close to the public because it had to stay sanitized. Not as educational as I had hoped Despite being an unusually warm day Patty insisted we do the cheese tasting outside. We tried 5 different types, and oddly I preferred the cows milk cheese despite her specialty being goats milk. I also wasn't enthused about having the tasting on an unstable picnic table surrounded by an endless number of flies we struggled to fight off, and the cheese was steadily melting. Not what I pictured for a cheese tasting. With some additional resources this place could be spectacular.

She then rented my goats to another person without informing them of the cost. She thereby involved an innocent party in her scheme, again without asking me if moving my goats to another party's land was OK with me. My goats are my babies. I need to know where they are at all times. She claimed, after the fact, that I should have been driving a fair distance every other day to check on them. This was not part of our original deal. Besides, Patty OWNS A GOAT FARM AND SHOULD KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF GOATS! Patty advertises herself as a goat farmer, but she doesn't even have any of her own goats! This woman and her farm are a run-down fake. Patty is quite elderly and suffers from severe memory loss. She is not even able to walk into her pastures due to physical issues. Don't go there. You will be disappointed in the lack of authenticity. This goat farm is a definite has-been and suffers from deferred maintenance, an owner who can't remember anything, and junk strewn everywhere.
