Very nice place and cozy! Most things are made from their garden or farmed on property. They have some private stock that hasn't been released that we got to see. From fresh cheeses to herbed and spice infused olive oils, salts, and herbs. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. We love going and supporting local businesses. Enjoy!

This small shop has the freshest fromage blanc called Foggy Morning. It is so fresh that it has not even been oxidized (exposed to oxygen). We got the Foggy Morning with basil and garlic; it is easily spreadable over a cracker, but I could just take a scoop of it and eat it straight up. Since this is a Swiss family cheese shop, they also offer Swiss Alpine mountain cheeses good for raclette. We don't make raclette, but still like their rich flavored mountain cheese for charcuterie boards. We picked up a Nicasio Reserve to enjoy. There are clean picnic tables on-site with a beautiful view of Nicasio Valley. We brought our own board and opened the cheeses we purchased. They staff even gave us additional papers and bags to pack up our leftover cheeses. It was an enjoyable afternoon!

Cheese shop with adjacent dairy farm with occasional deals on their farm fresh cheese. We bought a generous block of their award winning Taleggio cheese for $16.99, with an earthy tangy flavor, which would have cost more in a store. This cheese melts well. One of the smaller farm-based cheese shops in Marin, but they generally have at least one cheese to taste, along with good pricing in their cold case. Worth a visit.

Great service! Wonderful staff and really clean interior. They provide small samples so you can try their delicious cheeses

We've been getting Nicasio Valley cheese for many Sundays now at the Clement Street Farmers' Market. Staff gives very generous samples, and their cheese is always so tasty. We really love their soft cheeses - our favorites are the Locarno and Foggy Morning. The hard cheeses are also great. We've been meaning to do one of their guided tours and cheese tasting on a weekend when we can get out to Nicasio. You can pre-book on their website for 40$ - sounds so fun for a group. Still one of our farmers' market favorites, and hopefully we'll get out to their ranch soon.

Cheese trail destination We stopped by Nicasio Valley Cheese Company and we were impressed by the small farm ambiance and warm welcome upon arrival. The staff member was extremely knowledgeable about their cheeses and the cheese-making process, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.

We came into Nicasio Valley Cheese Company on our way to Point Reyes. My family and I come here as part of our planned cheese tour of 3 local cheese companies. This company is very small compared to the other cheese companies that we visited. The shop was small, but there was a window that looked into where they make their cheeses. The was only 1 type of cheese to taste (Nicasio Reserve). The lady that worked there was very nice as was her trainee and both were knowledgeable about their products. Most of their cheeses have won awards. We needed up purchasing the Foggy Morning garlic and basil cheese which was delicious. If we are in the area, we would stop back in to purchase more cheese.

Delicious! Nicasio Valley Foggy Morning (fromage blanc style cheese). Yum!

If you like to cheese and lucky enough to be in the gorgeous countryside of Nicasio, CA, you should check out the little shop of Nicasio Valley Cheese. They are my all time favorite cheese maker. My favorite cheese is Nicasio Valley's brand Foggy Morning. Foggy Morning is a fromage blanc style cheese. It has a creamy smooth spreadable texture. Lighter than cream cheese and thicker than Greek yogurt. I love the slight tanginess and creamy texture. Delicious. TMI, I am lactose intolerant but I can tolerate the Foggy Morning cheese. I spread it on toasted sourdough bread and top it with sweet or savory toppings. I am in heaven with this on toasted sourdough with strawberry jam and bacon. The shop is tiny and compact. It is no frills. The building is nondescript. Keep an eye out for it from the road, there is no big flashy fancy sign. Thy do not have a Instagram shop wall or landscaped picnic area. But they do have darn delicious award winning cheeses. Besides their vast selection of cheeses, they sell local items such as eggs, honey, jams, vinegars, and olive oils. Also something to note is that they temporarily suspended free samples ever since COVID. Shucks. I hope that may change soon.

I found Nicasio Valley Cheese at the Clement street farmers market. Decent prices on the soft cheeses, and far cheaper then buying online, but if your in Marin you might want to hit up their shop. The market stall has some nice Brie, it's a stall that I want to explore the next time I hit the street market on Clement. 100% Organic with a commitment of sustainable agriculture since 1919.

This is a small cheese shop in an isolated town in Marin county, which we visited this past Sunday. Tastings ended at 4pm, but the employee let us try a couple cheeses leftover, as we were there about an hour before closing time. She was friendly and provided helpful info about the different offerings. We ended up buying two kinds, the Foggy Morning with basil and garlic, and the Nicasio Reserve alpine style (hard cheese). I preferred the latter, but they were both tasty and we brought our own crackers to enjoy these with after our visit. They have a bit of outdoor seating and a small parking lot as well.

Cheese! Who doesn't love cheese??? We were passing by on our way to get oysters in Marshall, And we knew we had to stop here! Absolutely delicious cheese. Worth a visit! Also, they ship!

Quaint creamery with a big punch. Amazing cheese. I highly recommend the Foggy morning. Wonderful friendly service. I went a little bit of my way to visit and it was worth it.

What a cute little cheese store. After our last 4 trips up to grab some oysters at Tomales Bay, we finally decided to check this place out. The lady who greeted us outside gave us a brochure to help us understand what types of cheeses they had available. That was very helpful. After maybe a 10 min wait, we were finally allowed inside after the first group of people finished up their purchases. The same lady who gave us the brochure was kind enough to help us select which types of cheeses they had for sale. The cheeses on display was organized from mild to sharp (more smelly). We decided to go with their mild selections. There is plenty of parking on their lot and you can see their processing machinery through the glass window. Very interesting place to stop by and browse around if you're a cheese lover. Not far down the road is a winery where you can grab a bottle to go with your cheese.

    Beautiful day, and people.

I've heard people ask a lot of different questions about the ranches leaving Point Reyes, such as,…read more"Why are the ranchers leaving? What will happen to the buildings? What will happen to the cows? What will happen to the families who lived there?" My first question was, "How will this affect my birthday cheese?" Point Reyes Original Blue Cheese has been my favorite cheese for many years, ever since the first time I tried it, which was presumably at Gott's Roadside Deli around 2014. For a few years in a row, I drove all the way to Napa to have my "birthday burger" at Gott's. After that, I just started buying the cheese every year before my birthday, and calling it my "birthday cheese." Fast forward to 2026: all of the historic ranches moved out of the Point Reyes National Seashore, except for two. One of those two was Farmstead Cheese Co., which produces the aforementioned cheese. The farm is located just around the corner from Point Reyes Station, three miles up Highway 1 on Tomales Bay. The Marketplace and tasting room are located deep within the farm, at the end of a one-lane road, which is maybe about one-mile long. Like many of the other sketchy old farm roads in Point Reyes, you have to drive very slowly, and may need to back up if a big truck comes along. The road takes you through active farm work, past some very robust, healthy looking corralled cows, to a parking lot with enough room for a couple dozen cars. The Marketplace itself was only about one room, with two fridges full of cheese, a center table full of merchandise, and several more tables full of merchandise around the room. The inventory included jams, crackers, shirts, sweaters, cheeses (obviously), and various other gifts and picnic necessities. Aside from Bay Blue and Original Blue, I was excited to see a third flavor of blue cheese I'd not yet seen before: fennel blue. This turned out to be my favorite of all three, and I left with a small wedge of it, and a magnet. On my way in, I noticed a poster which I had seen in a history book full of national park posters in Golden Gate Park. While the artist in question (whose name I can't remember) never made a Point Reyes National Seashore poster, he made one for the Farmstead Cheese Co. I inquired if the posters were for sale, and found out that they normally are, but they are out of stock. When I said that I would come back to check for them in a few weeks, I was given a local's discount on my purchase. Sweet. In addition to the Marketplace, they also hold tasting events, which are listed on their website. Most of them are alcoholic events, which are of no interest to me, but I wish they would bring back cheese bingo before I leave for the summer. Would anyone come to a Cheese Bingo Unofficial Yelp Event?

It was a $20 corkage fee for the table, which was waived when purchasing a $24 set of insulated tumblers, so it was easy to enjoy the prosecco and red wine we brought from home with our cheese boards & bring some souvenirs home. We also ordered mac and cheese, salad, and soup. One of the staff Sarah shared the history of the family owned Farmstead, as well as their current farming practices. We found it most interesting that they use Agricultural Methane energy, in which manure is pumped into tanks, bacteria breaks down the waste, and the captured methane is piped to a generator to produce the farm's electricity. They are also using solar power, so a very eco-friendly place! All the cheese & food was delicious and our friendly server (Sarah's daughter who was a delight) provided complimentary soft serve to end a perfect afternoon. We even had leftovers to take home! My friend was blissfully happy. Thank you, Point Reyes Farmstead team for a beautiful experience!

The eggs are wonderful, delivery prompt, online store very accessible, and they conveniently partner with other local farms to provide veggies + fruit in addition to their sustainable meats (most CSAs will only provide one or the other). We came across Tara Firma initially via online / yelp searches shortly after moving to the Bay Area in 2016. When my husband and I initially started looking into vegetarianism for animal welfare reasons, I suggested we visit a farm that employs best practices of ethically and sustainably raised meat to help inform our decision. Tara Firma offers free educational tours every weekend and so we drove up one day with our 2 dogs (leashed dogs welcome!) and another family with their 3 (non furry) children for a fun Petaluma outing. The tour was informative and our guide was clearly super passionate about their mission. The farm was very beautiful and the lands idyllic -- we loved the fact that the cows were so free range that we could just barely make them out as a tiny dot in the distant hills. We all enjoyed observing the chicken dynamics around their mobile coop with their rooster guard, and they showed us how unperturbed the hens were when removing the eggs from the nest-- evening letting the children carefully take a couple out. Ultimately, we decided to pursue a vegetarian diet (especially after my husband met the pigs there), but we joined the CSA for their eggs and veggie share + cheeses (sourced from partner farms). We also have purchased meat occasionally for visiting carnivore families and friends, as we wanted to ensure if they were going to eat meat -- they were getting it from a farm like Tara Firma that does it in the right way. The best part of the CSA was their pet share as we realized buying offal from this farm would be a great compromise for our dogs (who were rebelling against our plant-based diet experiment) as we just wanted to provide our dogs protein with leftovers / byproduct without creating additional demand on the meat industry. Our pet share included amazing proteins like heart, tongue, cheeks, as well as more indulgent items like liver and kidney. Even the trotters and bones I would use to make broth in order to flavor / disguise our dogs' vegetarian kibble haha :) We also occasionally received some freezer burn meats, which cannot be sold for human consumption but safe (and very drool-worthy) for our dogs! Unfortunately, the pet share program has been discontinued but there are still plenty of diverse offal options in the farm store! Overall, a great local farm to support and highly recommend a visit!

While they sell discounted tickets for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free, we and all the other families there found the tour to be a real struggle for our little ones. We all felt a little misled about the experience based on the online description. It's a lot of standing very still (in rooms with equipment that shouldn't be contaminated by guests, or next to equipment that has cow poop on it), listening to the owner talk for long stretches. We expected more movement around the farm and time outdoors, instead of something closer to a lecture with a large group in tight spaces. It also ran over time (to 2 hours!) ending with a nice close up visit with the cows and some small cheese samples. We did really enjoy meeting the cows and learning the details of how cheese making works. It is a real labor of love. I think there's a lot of potential here; the Achadinha tour has all the ingredients for an awesome visit but could use some editing. This tour could easily be 30 minutes, an hour tops. We would've liked to stay and buy some cheese but by 1pm we were all starving and fled to find lunch elsewhere. Other parents shared they would've had a great time there on a date, but definitely wouldn't go with small kids again. I'll also flag that they require you to step through a decontamination footbath to go inside the facilities.
