Once you are close look for street parking. There is no dedicated parking lot for this park. This is a popular spot to bring your dog. I saw other people running and going for walks. I did not see any other people with kids, but I'm sure in the summertime more families are here. I may just be one of the few crazy people who still always brings their kids outside in the wintertime. For those with kids there is a playground here. Also in one of the corners of the park there are tons of squirrels. They are quite friendly. There was construction going on on the fountains while I was there. It looked like they were replacing the stone blocks around the fountains.

As spring is now here, going to parks in Denver is becoming a bigger part of ways to spend your time. Cheesman park is very walkable to those who live in Cap Hill. Parking can be a bit touch and go on very beautiful days. Street parking is the primary option around here. There's tons of open space to walk around or just sit in the park and relax. You'll often find a volleyball squad, dogs on a stroll, and more. There's not too much for permanent work equipment or a playground from what I've witnessed. It's a great open space with nice scenery and space to mingle.

This is my favorite park in Denver! It has so many trees to hammock in or hang out in the shade while also having a lot of open space with direct sunlight. The only thing I don't like is all of the no skateboarding signs they just put up around the monument. They look bad and who cares if people skate there?

I like this park as I can walk my dogs from my house to it really easily. Very clean and wide open. Close to the Botanical gardens. Pick up that poop Y'all

Cheesman Park is pretty great. Lots of activity there, especially when the weather is warm or nice. It's pretty relaxed, you can bring games, snacks, beverages -- keep it clean! There are dumpsters around. And people mostly are very good with being clean & respectful. The bathroom situation isn't the best. I guess maybe it kinda has to be that way with so many houseless around, but wow would it be nice to have some real bathrooms there... I wish we could have nice things! Lots of puppers being walked and well, you might see me with my lizard on a leash :) :) :) It's a good spot to get some exercise with various different paths to choose from. Sometimes the big building with the pillars (the pavillion area) has music one time I saw a DJ... I don't know what was going on or when that happens. Interesting as always, Denver!

I love how this is my neighborhood strolling spot. It is popular with sunbathers on the weekend no matter the temp. It is "vanilla" in visual interest. Large open field with a solitary pavillion and paths which run the perimeter ( a mile?). Mostly closed off to traffic. The botanic garden is adjacent, admission applies. When it starts blooming, maybe it will add a splash of color to the landscape.

Saturday, March 25th, 2023 late afternoon Cheesman Park Free street parking surrounding the entire park (read all signs/certain months/times of year may not permit parking) This park was on our list to experience during our week in Denver. We easily found free street parking, we enjoyed a nice park stroll in the cool weather, plenty of people around walking, jogging, conversing, playing with their dogs, singles, couples, families, duo and small groups of folks. We saw some roller skaters having the time of their lives and a whipcracker practicing their skill both intriguing to watch. Porta potty bathrooms but empty hand sanitizers. The entire park was perfection, beautiful, inviting, safe, relaxing, scenic views, very cool vibes that puts you in an instant good mood. Plenty of benches and space. We throughly enjoyed our time here and we'll be back when in Denver.

Very large and beautiful park that has many dog walkers. I was lucky to find street parking fast. Dogs cannot be off leash or you can get fined however many were

Really great park in Denver! I was surprised by how ginormous the park is. I did just one loop that was a mile, but I'm sure walking around the entire park would be at least 2-3 miles. There were great views of the city and there's a pantheon type structure where an event was going on so maybe you can rent it out (?). There's tons of field for picnics, flying kites, or dancing!

This park has the best people watching in Denver, has a nice little loop to run or walk, and tons of pups. The history of the park is also pretty fascinating in that it was once a cemetery! Amazing spot for a picnic with friends on a sunny day. The tables are also a great place to bring lunch during the week.

Gotta love Colorado and its outdoor space. There's literally bazillion parks in this state, it's amazing. I'm visiting from Nashville and I'm in love with the outdoors in Denver. After spending an afternoon at the Denver Botanical Gardens, I strolled my way to Cheesman park which is a few blocks away. It is located near a quiet residential area. The park has lots of green space. Great for picnics, playground for games. There's a jogging trail as well. You'll also find a pavilion area - great to stay in the shade especially since I came in a sunny Monday midday.

This park is the perfect place to relax on the weekend. The park is 80 acres and includes trails -some shade- and a huge lawn that is perfect for picnics, games, or just laying down to soak up the sun (which you can tell is what I did from my picture!) On the weekends you'll find several wedding parties taking pictures (usually near the pavilion) but the park is so large that there's plenty of room for everyone! There are bathrooms. When they close seasonly, they do still have Porta pottys. This park is close to the zoo and the botanic gardens.

Can I take headshots of my friend here? Nothing for any kind of business, advertisements or any kind of sport. I just wanted to use my nice camera to take some cute pictures of her. is this allowed?

Absolutely! This is actually a popular spot for local photographers to use as a location to take photos as well.

Beginning a city here proved to be a poor choice as the waterways were prone to periodic flooding. The City shifted to the northeast and this area was ignored and filled up with heavy industrial users. A huge flood in 1965 destroyed much of that infrastructure and provided an opportunity for redevelopment. The Greenway Foundation was a prime mover in the 1970s to create a park highlighting this area. A major update in the 1990s focused on floodplain management and further enhanced the park as a hub for the regional trail system. Today this is a highlight of Lower Downtown. The main park area begins at the south edge of the River and covers both sides of Cherry Creek. The trail system runs through this and continues north, south, and east. The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there? The final fireworks display in Creekside Park is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2015. I, for one, will be there to help send Creekside Park out with a bang. Yelp Review #400

Atmosphere and Scenery The atmosphere at City Park is very…read moreromantic and calm. It is a nice place to walk around with family and friends. Or to just play at the park, and a lot of people go there for running, biking, or playing soccer. One of the best things about this park is that it did not smell bad. I noticed because I know some parks have a stinky smell, but this one did not. Even though we went during the summer, it wasn't super hot and there were not a bunch of bugs for that time of year. Crowd The crowd depends on when you go and if there is an event happening. It was not crowded at all on the day we went because we went during the week. However, I know during certain times of the year they have jazz in the park and it gets super packed. Most of the time, everybody pretty much minds their own business or they are friendly, but if you go for an event, you should plan ahead accordingly. Price: This location is completely free to go to since there is no park entrance fee or anything. Even the jazz in the park events are free and really neat, which makes it a great spot if you are looking for a nice place that is laid-back and free to enjoy. Parking and Transportation: There are plenty of places to park during a normal day, but when we went to jazz in the park during the summer, it did take some time to find a spot. You should make sure to show up early so that you can find parking. If you live a little bit away, you might want to take an Uber, or you can just walk or ride your bike if you live close enough. Overall Experience: My husband and I went right before sundown to do a picnic and painting date that also served as a photo shoot. We had someone set this up for us and we paid for it, so it was very convenient because we just showed up and followed their instructions. It was a great time to go because it wasn't very busy and the lighting was perfect. I think it is a good spot to have a photo shoot or a cute picnic date because it has such a romantic feel to it.
