Chef Abyssinia is nothing short of dream personal chef. In addition to how easy she is to work with, her food was outstanding and exactly to our taste. The chef prepared 4 courses and each was interesting and delicious. We had Chef Abyssinia come to our house for my 60th birthday party. We had 10 people for dinner. She arrived on time, had our hors d'oeuvres ready at the time we had specified and they were delicious. Shrimp tostadas, polenta bites with goat cheese and wild mushrooms, and duck foie gras wontons. Dinner was perfectly paced after that. We started with scallops au gratin, followed by surf and turf (lobster and steak were great) with a croissant bread pudding to finish. When we finished one course, she had the next one hot and ready, but we never felt rushed at all. The food was high end restaurant quality. She made herself comfortable in the kitchen, and once she brought all her supplies in, and I briefly showed her around the kitchen, she was off and cooking. Abyssinia is a consumate professional with an extremely high acumen for preparing meals with wonderful flavor while observing and honoring dietary restrictions. My family had the lamb chops, sea bass, snapper and herbed chicken. Everything was prepared to perfection including the vegetable side dishes. I attended a Chef's Table event by Chef Abyssinia and was beyond impressed with my experience. From the minute I walked in, the venue was nicely decorated with fresh flowers, gold accents, detailed menus, and a beautiful table setting. The hostess greeted me with a glass of white wine and seated me with the rest of my party. The menu had a touch of comfort food fused with popular European ingredients that were both beautifully decorated and delicious too. The first course was a fresh salad with prosciutto and a herb dressing that was enjoyable. Following that, we had a perfectly grilled salmon on a bed of warm rice and peas and a mango salsa. The salmon had a sweet coating on the exterior and tender on the inside. The rice was cooked perfectly and the mango salsa added a nice touch to the dish. The third course was a braised rib with brioche and a bbq cole slaw. The rib was delicious, brioche was slightly sweet but enjoyable; and the bbq cole slaw was tasty too. The final dish was a sponge cake was awe-inspiring and couldn't stop licking my plate. In addition to every meal, we had a glass of wine that paired well with what we were eating. After doing some research of finding a personal chef to cater to my wife on her birthday with friends, I landed on Chef Abyssinia on instagram. I reviewed her photos and was very impressed with what I saw so all that was left, was a phone call and my menu options. From the initial call, I got a really good feeling from her and even got to know her a little regarding background and experience. It was refreshing and nice to feel like she was trustworthy. When the day came, she arrived on time and ready to get started. The look on my wife's face match the eyes emoji that people use in text, but she spoke with Chef Abbyssinia, she got a good vibe and felt relaxed. To say that her food tasted amazing is an understatement. From the setup, to the entrees and dessert, we were super impressed as this was a first time experience for us. I found Chef Abyssinia through Yelp. I read her reviews and her website, then sent her an inquiry. She responded quickly and we were able to move forward with a catered lunch plan consisting of platter style sandwiches, chips, fruit, and dessert. I was thrilled by the presentation of the catered food. The food looked amazing-- full sandwiches, beautifully cut fresh fruit, layers of assorted baked desserts, and a variety of bagged chips. Chef Abyssinia provided all of the cutlery, napkins, plates, bottled water, and a menu for the staff. She also advised they should be mindful of the toothpicks that were holding sandwiches together, which was very thoughtful. The lovely staff who had the lunch said it was delicious!
