I've been using Top Chef to have prepared meals delivered to my client who cannot cook for himself…read more What I like is the wide range of dietary choices and preset suggested meals and combinations. My client is diabetic so ordering and reordering is easy thanks to this. There is a fair range of selections of entrees in the way of protein and vegetable sides. The meal portions are maybe slightly bigger than a lean cuisine so it may not be for everyone as those portions can be a bit meager. I had one of the meals that my client didn't want - pork tenderloin, carrots, and string beans. I heated it in the oven as recommended and the pork was not bad, nor were the beans. They went a bit heavy on the carrots though. This is only one meal of many however and my client overall has a favorable opinion of them, his favorite being the "American glazed meatloaf" Top Chef has come through in a big way for me with delivering about 2 weeks worth of meals for my client that come about three days after ordering it (If it isn't before the weekend). With the rising popularity of heat and eat and fast prep meal kits, like Hello Fresh, Blue Apron and more this is great for elderly, disabled or otherwise, perhaps people who have next to no time to cook. with a nice selection, good packaging, quick delivery and even a senior discount I'm very satisfied with Top Chef Meals.

Pros: We chose Natasha for a small family party to celebrate our wedding this spring. We went with…read moreher mainly because she was the first/only chef to begin our conversation by asking us what WE had in mind and letting that be the foundation for building the menu. She seemed eager to help us realize our vision rather than impose someone else's onto us. There are also four other people on the IBN team: the sous chef, whose name I forget; the bartender, for whom the same is true (maybe Aaron or Erin), and two servers: Mason and Spencer. These folks did an AMAZING job and we were both so grateful for their kindness and professionalism on the day of the event. Finally, I liked what I ate! I was happy with my day-of meal. Cons: Natasha was incredibly rude to both me and my husband in the weeks leading up to the post-wedding party. I had only spoken to her twice before the party: once when I hired her and again in February. She'd said in February that we could have a third and final call two weeks before the event. When I emailed her three weeks before the event to schedule this final call, she sounded irritated and said we'd spoken "a few days ago" (we had not; I even asked some relatives in case someone else had, but no) and she wanted to "stick to the plan" of having a call at a date a time to which we had not agreed--- only *five* days before the party. My husband reminded her that she'd said we could talk two weeks before and she eventually, reluctantly scheduled a call with us. When we call at the date and time she told us to, she does not pick up; instead, she texts us that she's in the middle of an event. All of these things are perfectly normal, human mistakes. We all get clients confused and talk to one as though they are another (like the "a few days ago" thing). We all overbook ourselves every once in a while and are unavailable after telling someone we would be. A professional would have simply apologized; instead, after I used *one sentence* of an email to express my disappointment about the missed call--- because my husband had taken off work to be available for it, so lost money for no reason--she used this as an excuse to threaten not to show up. Said she needed us to "confirm" in light of my "tone." In light of this, I decided not to speak to this person anymore unless absolutely necessary (i.e. at the party, for the sake of our guests). My husband took over talking to her, at which point we had a fun little role-reversal in which he was now the one reporting to me on a regular basis how rude Natasha was being to him. So at least I know it wasn't personal! Conclusion: If you just need to place a big food order and don't need to talk to the chef again after that, you can go with IBN and you'll probably be fine. If, however, you are planning an event of great importance to you--or just don't want to risk being treated like a burden for wanting to speak more than once with someone you're employing-- maybe look elsewhere.

This is an updated review now that our wedding reception is behind us…read more Zoe Deleu is a flavor magician, kitchen wizard, and an overall absolute queen. I had the wonderful pleasure of having her cater our reception at Housing Works Bookstore. Fair warning - this will not be a review per se, but a love letter to Zoe and her works of umami art! First of all, do yourself a favor - book a tasting with Zoe immediately (as in yesterday). My (newly wedded) husband and I were speechless at our tasting; the only words we could say were "oh my god this is good" every time we sampled something. If you book a tasting now you'll save yourself a ton of time searching for a caterer because it'll be quickly apparent that you will not find anyone better. Anyways... so typically a bride does not want to be upstaged at her wedding, but let me tell you, the food was the star and I was NOT mad about it. I think almost every one of our 135 attendees came up to us to tell us that the food was amazing and hands down "the best food [they] have ever had at a wedding in [their] lives." This was coming from people who are absolutely not chicken and rice people -- but from people who live and eat in major cities all over the world with sophisticated palates and are VERY VERY critical about their food. I heard nothing but good things (trust me I would have heard about it if they had any criticism). Additionally, Zoe's plating is divine, the service of her staff is impeccable and I don't have a single point of need for development feedback. If we wanted a mix of flavors (like black sesame and green tea tarts for dessert), Zoe can accommodate that. A cajillion different allergies? Zoe can handle it. Have no idea what you want? Zoe will gently guide you towards particular choices that fit your menu and guest needs. I told you, this is a love letter, not a review. However, I think my absolute favorite part about Zoe is that she is humble, kind and treats her staff with the utmost respect. She is a lovely person who loves her craft and the craft loves her back. Zoe you're wonderful and I wish you nothing but the best!!
