With a swollen staff on an easy afternoon, staff wasn't even attentive to diners and they were chatting away with one another. We got a wood fired NY strip steak ordered medium and a single cheeseburger in a brioche bun. The steak came out rare- with gummy center. This came together with... Pandesal? Probably the only decent thing they served. We asked them to serve us the plate medium and they most likely reheated it in the same dish. Meanwhile, the burger was over seasoned and underwhelming- patty was crumbly/soggy in the middle.

The Rib Shack is currently one of my favorites because of two things: first, they're conveniently located just five minutes away from my in-laws' place and second, they serve ribs and wings. The place is quite family-friendly. They have high chairs and toys you can borrow to keep the kids entertained, but they're also quite barkada friendly by night, with their wide choices of drinks. Their ribs is obviously the star of the show and I love that their full rack is only at P800+ (order the It's Complicated Set, it comes with three side dishes) but in my Kuya's words when describing something that doesn't live up to his expectations, it's "payat." The slab is huge and oozing with flavor, but the ribs aren't quite as meaty as I expected. Their Buffalo Wings would have to be the scene stealer though. It's really good! Meaty and flavorful, we barely touched the bleu cheese dip that went with it. And that's saying a lot, if you know how much I love my bleu cheese. The price range isn't your typical friendly neighborhood restaurant, but their servings are big and their food is promising, so sulit pa rin. Check out this place when you're in my part of the south.

A better suggestion would've been more appropriate and we chose to wait for the newer one after quite a number of follow-ups instead. The supervisor or manager that went to our table was apologetic. I just thought it would've been better and more heartfelt if he delivered his apology to the person who directly got disappointed; telling our parents was very polite but a tad bit safe and evasive, in my opinion. I remember occasionally eating in this place during weekends after a movie or church as my family and I indulged in good old American food. Burgers, steak, and of course, their infamous ribs. Their ribs are tender and juicy as the meat falls off the bones. I love the fact that their ribs taste exactly the same as it did years ago. Their service could be improved as it is quite difficult to get the staff's attention. Typical American style, the food portions are quite large and is good for sharing.

I remembered getting a medal for something and we celebrated at Racks. That was where I tasted my first baby back ribs which became one of my favorite foods up to now. This place disappeared in the south for several years, and thankfully it came back when the Food Street area in SM Southmall opened. Their baby back ribs obviously take center stage in that restaurant, but the classic pork ribs is a sleeping giant. It's so good, especially with Racks' special barbecue sauce. I like the spicy variation. Their country-style fried chicken is good too, and it comes with some muffins to be glazed with the best honey I've ever tasted. Finish that off with their Mississippi Mud Pie. Families love dining in this place not only because of the homey feel, but because they also offer really affordable group meals.
