Callahan's main focus is production and they overload their Doctors, not caring about patients. Dr. Jessica Palmer and staff did a great job. I bought several pair of glasses to fit in frames that had glasses that were scratched. Perfect fit. Also, I had an eye emergency. I had a big splinter in my eye from a table saw creating sawdust. They took it right out. Thankfully, I did not have to drive to Callahan and sit for hours. The Doctors are easy to talk to. The fellow that adjusts glasses is very professional and good at what he does. I recommend them highly and am happy they are now very close to where I live and work.

And then a year later had the audacity to blame me for not paying. I paid exactly what they asked me to pay over the phone ( a year earlier) and they shipped me my contacts. They made multiple mistakes in their back office (never acknowledged), mistakes in ordering my contacts (never acknowledged), and misleading the patient for the 'real cost' of the contacts (never acknowledged). And somehow this was all my fault. Some of the most rude associates you will ever encounter (and they are always right....just ask them). So, if you like to be treated poorly, billed incorrectly (or not at all), and gouged (or lied to) on anything you purchase there, then it's a great place to get your eyes checked! Dr. Essinger is hands down the best optometrist I have ever seen. The staff at Vestavia Eye Care was friendly and helpful from the moment I reached the front counter. The initial tests and evaluations were thorough, especially when I told them some recurring issues I was having. (Note: make sure you have at least an hour for your exam if you have an issue.) When I told Dr. Essinger the issues I had been having for two years that were unsolved mysteries for every doctor I saw, he was the first to care. He ran texts on me I had never seen and he came up with two theories for me to test. In fact, he was so concerned that he told me to text him as soon as I had progress. When I called to set up a date for the procedure, it was super easy, and I had mine done the next week. The procedure itself did not take long at all, I would say under 10 minutes. The doctor and staff are all very kind and patient with any questions you might have and the doctor went over each step of the procedure with me beforehand. I couldn't get it to see my regular optimist so I called them for a last minute appointment. Not only did the receptionist put me at ease, but the doctor provided tons of feedback, solutions, and prescribed a regime that cleared it right up. A few weeks later my boyfriend and I returned for an eye exam. My boyfriend is legally blind and has trouble with optometrists in the past, but he loved Red Mountain Eye Care. They were friendly, easy-going, and really listened to the problems he was having with his vision. I would highly recommend this great practice!
