Had an amazing experience here. I had my initial consultation a few months before my actual procedure because I wanted time to think about it/save up for it. When I called to set up a date for the procedure, it was super easy, and I had mine done the next week. The procedure itself did not take long at all, I would say under 10 minutes. The doctor and staff are all very kind and patient with any questions you might have and the doctor went over each step of the procedure with me beforehand. Thankfully they have many different payment plans, I would never have been able to afford it otherwise. My vision is now 20/20 which is something I never thought I would say. The staff, optometrist, and ophthalmologist at LVI of Birmingham were excellent! I transferred my surgery here because their surgery schedule was more convenient for me than the Memphis location where I was originally scheduled. The pre-surgery tests were very thorough. At each step of the process they explained everything to expect. The optometrist checked my prescription to be sure that everything was absolutely correct (even though it had been checked twice before), this made me much more at ease. I opted for the Contoura procedure, this is a custom LASIK procedure that uses a topographical map of the cornea to get the best results possible. I did not opt to get the punctal plugs for dryness. I have had very minimal issues with dryness post-op. I used eye drops about 6 times a day for two weeks before my surgery as suggested by other optometrists and ophthalmologists, this may have helped my reduce the post-op dryness complications, YMMV. After surgery I went to a hotel and slept for about four hours, woke up to eat and put in drops and then slept until the next morning. Immediately after surgery my eyes were extremely sensitive to light. LVI provides a pair of cheap sunglasses to wear home, they also provide an eye shield to wear when sleeping for the first 7 days post-op. The day after surgery I had 20/15 far vision and 20/20 near vision. These were epic results in my opinion. I had astigmatism before the procedure which made it hard to make out the facial features of people who were over a few feet away. I am now two weeks post-op and do not regret having the surgery and would recommend LVI. read more

The staff was wonderful but when I went back to get the numbing drops put in my eye the girl totally missed my right eye and missed the guys right eye sitting next to me. I had had LASIK roughly 20 years ago and had a great experience with no problems from another company. Dr O'Day was a prick who placed the retractor on my eyes to keep my lashes out of the way and when the left retractor was placed it was sticking into my left eye and I could not keep my left eye open because it was stinging and burning. I tried to tell Dr O'Day but his response was there was no reason for my eye to be stinging and burning and to just keep my eye open or I would not get a good result. He has no bedside manner whatsoever. He also kept pulling on my head to turn it instead of asking me to turn it and I have had neck surgery twice so that was not a good thing for him to do since I am now having numbness in my left arm which I was not having before. I told Dr Williams when I came out and she was checking my eyes how Dr O'Day did and she apologized. My experience was great except for Dr O'Day. My up close vision is not any better and it is my left eye so I think Dr O'Day just did not do what he should have to my left eye because he was aggravated. I think it would be great except just don't use Dr O'Day. read more

January 23rd, 2021. I had a scheduled surgery today @1pm. I arrive , no problem. I had told them prior to the surgery I would be paying by check. Then i was informed that the check reader and atm was down and had to have another form of payment, this was Saturday afternoon at 2pm. I needed 3,500 cash. My atm will not let me take out more than 400 per day. I scheduled vacation this week to get this done. They wanna know now when I can come back? Really!! If they can't run an office why would I want them to take a laser to my eyes. My delima is now trying to get the next time I can get a vacation from my job. They should have called me this morning and said they couldn't take checks or cards Really!!! I may reschedule with them, I really don't know at this time!!!! Several of their management had previously walked out. My job is not very at vacation scheduling, we have several people that take vacation as well. Great job LASIK read more
