That was, until I visited Aveda. The shop is beautiful - it's modern and polished, with wooden floors that replicate the focus of the brand - using clean, natural ingredients to improve hair. There are a number of ranges and within each range there is a shampoo, conditioner, treatment and styling products. When you first visit the store, there's an opportunity to get a scalp test done with a machine that takes a close-up of your scalp, and consultation of what you're looking to improve in your hair (10 mins). The staff then recommend suitable products. They have samples so you can test whether the product works before you buy. They also offer a free mini hand massage and tea each time you visit. The shampoo does not foam up because it's a natural product (the negative is I end up using a lot!). The tumeric and ginseng is quite strong and I love the smell; I feel pampered everytime I wash my hair. The downside is that it does sting if you get it in your eyes!!! After using the recommended products to thicken hair, I definitely noticed a reduction in hair loss and my hair was thicker and healthier. Products are pricey but they are worth every penny! You're better off spending your money here on something that actually works than testing products that don't work, be constantly disappointed and buy more products that don't work.

After explaining my predicament to one of the staff member, an older man, who looked like the best person to ask about electrical lighting, I was told to buy some parts here, and or go to a lighting shop for a pre-made alternative. After some further poking around the store, I found exactly what I needed, with no guidance from any further staff members. At checkout the staff we're less than impressed, and didn't engage with their customers further than just taking their money. It's only a hardware store, but some level of good customer service should still be expected.
