We use to go to quite frequently. We decided to go for Easter Dinner. Very disappointed. When I made the reservation I asked specifically if they had a regular menu and a vegan menu. They said yes. When we got there the regular menu was so limited that my husband and I decided to get the full Easter Dinner which was $75.00. Felt it was pricy, and it was. My husband ordered the prime rib and it was grisly and had too much fat on it. The salad I had was not really fresh. Wilted. The wine prices were outrageous. A bottle of wine that you can get at the LCBO for 9.95 they were charging $41.00. We feel their pricing is way to high for the food, wine and ambiance they offer. read more

The location is lovely and rustic which is the nicest thing I can say about this old fashioned place. We went for a family dinner celebration. The call to make the reservation wasn't remarkable in any form. The wait staff mixed up our drink order and then completely forgot we had ordered after they had just taken our food order! The server forgot to order the appetizer for our daughter so she ate her appetizer after we were all done ours. The Yorkshire pudding and gravy can be ordered as a side so we assumed they were exemplary. Wrong assumption! They were served cold and tasted of oil the gravy was salty and tasted like packaged and not the good kind - very disappointing and $5 for each order. Don't think you are getting free refills on soda either! 3.95 for each one! We ordered 7 not realizing or being told. The 10oz steak came out looking like a burnt offering. My daughter ordered the Seafood Platter! $52 you would like it would be somewhat extravagant as it was the most expensive item on the menu, but you'd be wrong. It had a fried dried out piece of salmon, a couple of crab legs, and a tiny little lobster tail with undercooked carrots and broccoli and rice. They apologized for forgetting our daughters app but didn't compensate at all. Too bad for us! Worse still is that it was her special day This place has big city prices for small town food. It is outdated, overpriced and we will not be going back. We could have gone to the Keg and had a much better meal for the same or lower price. We visited the Chemong Lodge restaurant with friends for a birthday celebration last night. We have given the Lodge at least half a dozen attempts over the past couple of years and it has never impressed us but we went along with our friends. Our dinner last night was the worst we have ever had in a restaurant! We ordered bread for the table ($2.50) and it tasted of freezer burn. I had the pasta and it was cold and under cooked. I know my husband is going to write a review as well so I won't talk about his meal. No hot water in the ladies room to wash hands properly. The location and setting of the Chemong Lodge is wonderful, it is a local restaurant we would really like to support. They have all the makings to pack the house but the kitchen just can't get it together. We won't be back. read more

We have been a patron of the Lodge since 1996, and always enjoyed great Steaks & Prime Rib, and a top notch dining experience at a good price. I just endured the most painful dining experience I have ever had the pleasure of being part of. We arrived for our 6:30pm reservation. Restaurant was typically Saturday night "busy". After 40 minutes, we finally got our drink order. Bottles of wine. Then we sat and waited. Wine empty. Water bottle empty. We received our salad at 8:30 pm - two hours after arriving. By that time, the table was half in the bag, and beyond starving, and those who did not order a salad were asking for a bite of salad from those who did order one. We then ordered a soft drink - they were "all out". We ordered a bottle of sparkling water - " sorry, all out". .... room temperature water it is..... By the time we got our meals it was 9:15pm. I ordered the Steak. Good cut of meat, but served with No Potatoes - just 4 spears of asparagus, and 6 cherry tomatoes - $63.00! Now I have spent 2 to 3x that on an aged Wagu steak in various cities, but I left those restaurants having had a 5 star dining experience, and an outstanding, well rounded meal. Not here. Then we had another "intermission". Dessert arrived at 10:10pm...... we left at 10:40. The owner was apologetic, and sent a round of shooters as an olive branch - which might be great if you drink shooters, but I have never had a $63 - 10oz Striploin in Peterborough before, and I have never seen any restaurant require 4.25 hours to complete a meal. We have seen our last dinner at Chemong Lodge. After 25 years, I bid the lodge adieu! read more

I have met family here for lunch on Wednesday afternoons more than once recently. Chemong Lodge currently offers a great special on their prime rib at this time and that's been the big draw for us, and they haven't let us down at all! The food is great, service very good and the price is more than fair if you take advantage of their Wed. special. We've been going here for formal dinners for years and usually get a good meal in a nice atmosphere. During this visit we went for a late lunch after a day on the water and sat in a small room off of the bar to enjoy some air conditioning, a cold drink and some food. The waitress came promptly to take drink orders and returned with our beers. Unfortunately two of them were flat and needed to be returned. A fresh tapping of a new keg and all was good. We ordered burgers and sandwiches from the pub menu and waited for our food. After 40 minutes we hadn't seen our waitress again and had yet to receive our meals. During the wait we were entertained by the bartender loudly yelling how she was f'ing tired and needed an f'ing drink (she used the actual words). Further complaining that she was going to have to be 'Doug's Bitch' for the whole day. This went on loudly on a similar vein for our entire visit. Just as my friend got up to ask for our bill and cancel our food order due to the extended wait our waitress re-emerged with our food. Lunch was decent but we were so hungry by that point just about anything would have been welcome. The poor service and R-rated entertainment made this visit feel like an episode of "Bar Rescue". read more

The food was nice--comfort food for the most part (e.g. ribs, roast beef, seafood). It is generally meat-heavy, hearty fare, prepared to tasty but standard spec. Don't come here for surprising food combinations or subtle but titillating flavors--it's North American home cookin', and good for what it is. The staff was accommodating and friendly. But, you really come to Chemong Lodge for the view. The lodge overlooks a grassy lawn, and then forest and the lake beyond. And so, as you converse, sipping and supping on your potables and comestibles, be sure also to drink in the lovely view. The weather when we went was flawless and so the prospect was enticing indeed. Good value. Great old fashioned comfort food. Menu is red meat heavy, but that's what we go for. I usually get the Roast Beef, and hubby gets the Prime Rib. Decor is pretty outdated. This the best place in the Peterborough area for Prime Rib, and the scale is broken because the portions are bigger that advertised. The atmosphere is like being at the cottage while looking over the water with the sun setting. Been here many times and never had a bad meal. Chemong lodge was absolutely amazing for my Moms wedding. They were very attentive and sociable in making my moms wedding go smoothly. It was a very nice intimate wedding and everyone had a blast. It was one of the most emotional and memorable experiences in my life. The server balanced a very large amount of us with very little hiccups and left us a very gracious note of well wishes as the end. They made everything go off without a hitch and my family was very thankful for that. read more

Great time tonight tonight and the food was high quality though for some reason tonight we were unable to find the cranberry in the orange cranberry chicken order. But our server Teena was so attentive and comfortably congenial that we just can't wait to visit for dinner again and hopefully track down the missing cranberries. I was here for a birthday party recently and enjoyed the old school atmosphere. We were assigned one waiter for a fairly large party which I felt was unfair to the waiter who did an excellent job anyway!! Steak was tasty, if not top grade, as were the sides. I can't complain about the food really.. I just wish a few servers had been assigned to our table to roll out the meals a little quicker otherwise this would be a 4 star review. I look forward to returning with a smaller party as I think it's a cool spot! read more

Hit & miss. As another posted said large parties only get 1 server so our party of 30 people waited a long time for everything. Food can be good but also had cold & flavourless. Never eaten from the bar menu but perhaps that is better. Have been to brunch & the regular dining room. Not my first choice anymore read more
