During all this covid craziness, I decided to take a mini workcation to Pacifica and bring my pup over to the beach. My pup, Mochi, just turned 13 so I wanted to memorialize the occasion by getting some pictures done I was so lucky to find Cheri on somewhat short notice. My husband and I decided to tie the knot at San Francisco Hall, and we hired Cheri to take photos for us! Cheri and her associate, Nguyen, did such an amazing job capturing the day for us, and I absolutely loved how the photos turned out! From City Hall to Palace of Fine Arts, they were both professional and knew the best angles and lighting. She was also really good with working with our parents and directing them, even when my dad and my husband's mom were just all over the place and not listening (like parent's usually are). Nguyen did a great job taking photos and helping us find good backdrops and poses, even with our awkward posing skills. I hired Cheri for engagement and wedding photography. Overall, she is very experienced and great at adapting to unexpected situations. She was punctual and very organized, not a vendor I had to worry about. Her prices were reasonable and I feel she puts effort into making your pictures the best possible. Great for bright and romantic style. At times I felt she didn't quite understand and capture the specific items of sentimental value that I wanted in way I planned, but she has her own vision and the pictures will turn out nicely. Engagement shoot: Due to Covid 19 and weather conditions in SF, we had to change locations multiple times. Throughout the process she was responsive and helped suggest alternatives. I did my shoot in December and on the day of, there was terrible fog in Half Moon Bay. However, Cheri still managed to make the pictures look amazing. For the second shooting location, we literally pulled over on the side of the road at a random sunny looking spot and took pictures there. Cheri was incredible at working on the fly and had an artistic eye for selecting the best locations. Wedding Photography: I had a really tight schedule (hired Cheri for 6 hours with no second photographer, 3 locations 20 min drive apart). Chinese tea ceremony in the morning and western ceremony and cocktail hour/reception in the evening. Services ended right at the start of reception dinner. I had two videographers as well and Cheri was able to take the lead in guiding them and helping them get the shots they needed. She captured all the group pictures well, but I wish there was more time for couple portaits. I wanted to take more but she was too quick and went off to take cocktail hour candid photos. For wedding photography I felt a little rushed (Cheri probably wanted to capture as much as possible), but I didn't feel like I had a chance to voice what I wanted. If you have specific items in mind you want to capture, definitely write it down ahead of time and be vocal about it (Ex. Close up portraits, shots of rings, etc). Maybe even designate a person to help you run over to voice what you want as the day is hectic and moving around in wedding gown is super hard (people can't hear you well and you can't get over closer to them easily). Overall, she did get a good variety of shots of all parts of the day. The pictures turned out well. I got my teaser photos really quickly. The rest of the photos took a little over 1 month (Cheri told me mailing of film scans were delayed due to Covid). I'd like to highlight that Cheri did go above and beyond in effort and drove all the way to South Bay several days before the wedding to capture wedding details for no additional fee. This really helped take stress off the hectic wedding day. However, I felt the pictures of the details didn't turn out that well. Cheri used a white ish cloth as a background so the items (mostly white and silver) blended in and colors ended up looking sort of washed out. She also mentioned that close up of the rings look best with flowers from the bouquet so those weren't taken ahead of time. On the wedding day, it was forgotten about so I didn't get any close ups of the rings. 5+ stars for effort, 5 stars for quality of end result (photos were edited well, bright with pretty colors), 4.5 stars for capturing what I wanted. I feel some shots missed, but understandable given hectic day and tight timeline. read more
