Despite the small size, the single security line took a lot longer than expected. There was 4 people before me but i felt it took at least 10-15 minutes before i got through. There's only 2 gates. If two flights are boarding around the same time, make sure you are in the right line. People were just standing around and blocked the way to the gate or looked like they were in line but weren't. This is probably because the area after security was too small or the setup of the layout. Otherwise the airport was clean with one shop offering coffee, snacks, and merchandise. Overall the airport is not too exciting but not stressful either.

It's also very easy to get from one gate to another. I was dropped off curbside and was thru TSA in a just a few minutes. A new parking garage was added a year ago that has lots of covered parking and EV chargers. The rental cars are conveniently located at the luggage claim area located downstairs. When I went as a kid, they made a big deal about winning the watch that they dropped out of the plane. Although this airport does not offer commercial service, it offers sales, repair, charter, rental, and instruction services. Iowa Lakes Community College (the local JC) has a 2-year Aviation program here that includes its own independent flight training department.

Yeah, so maybe all the bigger airlines aren't lined up like they are in Minnesota/St. Paul, yet my Airlines I usually fly are here for my flying pleasure. The Airport itself is never really crowded and chaotic like bigger airports tend to be., And that's what keeps me coming to South Dakota, I live in SWMN so for me it's a 90-minute drive that I find to be peaceful and scenic, and I love the quick drop-offs and pick-ups. The staff is always extremely helpful from check-in till you reach your gate This past winter, the Airport finished up a new indoor long-term parking structure that's directly across and steps from the front entrance too. I highly recommend the Sioux Falls airport to all my friends visiting from the West Coast, it's quick, Clean and efficient Way to do it South Dakota!!

Coffee downstairs also, believe it was Caribou. Arrival and departure boards are prominently displayed. Chargers abound although a good number of outlets are duds. TSA security is fairly simple. Metal detectors and bag scanners. Some neat aviation cloud artwork on the neighboring wall. Private screening rooms if you prefer private TSA gropings. Friendly staff and you're through in minutes and off to your gate. Restaurant or coffee shop/bar past security. That's basically it apart from some vending machines. Maybe about ten gates with a play area for little ones. Normal seats with huge windows to look outside and pass the time. Free wifi. Apart from that it's your normal airport. Service to Denver and Minneapolis. Nearby airports and maybe Texas. Got the vibe this was a larger airport than Rapid City but I could be wrong.
