Real deal vintage clothes up in here. We're talking the Greg Brady fringed vests and polyester shirts from the 1970s. Fur coats and porkpie hats from a time when fur coats and porkpie hats were worn in earnest and not ironically. I visited Cherry Canary around Halloween season, and there were a lot of people stopping by to look for pieces for their costumes. I can see why -- much of their clothing would make excellent costumes. But I don't see why you couldn't wear a wool sailor suit any other time of the year. You just need some chutzpah. Like a good vintage store, the clothing racks are jam-packed with clothes, so it's a little overwhelming to go through everything. But that's a good thing -- it just means they have a lot of stuff and a big selection. Everything is displayed tastefully, and they have a section for men's clothes and one for women's. They have little dressing rooms for you to try on the clothes, too, but be aware that the lighting in the dressing rooms is very dim. LOVE this store! I'm from a spot that doesn't have much in the way of vintage clothing and was so excited to see this place on my Yelp recommendations while I was out in Bloomington. First off, the shop owner here is SO nice and helpful. I mentioned the decade I was shopping for and she pulled quite a few lovely pieces down for me. The merchandise here is in great shape and I feel like I bought so many treasures while I was there. I feel like this shop has something for everyone here. I scored some 1950s dresses, and 1940s dress, and even a 1930s peignoir. The prices vary, with older items usually being priced higher. However, I think the items are worth the price because they are basically one-of-a-kind at this point and are in solid shape. read more

I never knew about this cute vintage shop until I had a murder mystery event to go to that was 80's themed! The organizer mentioned in an email that they were a great place to check out for some rad outfits. I believe they normally operate as a vintage clothing store but will rent occasionally for fundraisers and Events like the one I attended. I only learned about the shop a few days before my event. I tried to get there after work a few times but always ended up getting stuck at the office. The day of the event there was no other choice, I ran out of the office and headed over praying to find something since I had left it to the last possible second I had no choice!! Even after getting lost on my way there (totally my fault I have no idea what address I put in my GPS) I made it with plenty of time before they closed. It's really not hard to find, we are new to the area and I am horrible with directions,as my last sentence clearly proves. The woman who runs the store is beyond nice and helpful. I told her what I was looking for and she knew about the event I was going to. She pulled a bunch of different outfits for me to try (I felt like I went back in time) and was SO nice. I was in such a rush, as soon as I found one that fit I was sold lol. She also helped me pick out a shirt for the hubby to wear. We ended up renting the pieces, even though I loved my Beverly Goldberg inspired jumpsuit type bedazzled masterpiece, I'm just not sure I can pull it off on the regular lol. I wish I had more time to go through all the racks, the clothes were awesome! I will definitely be stopping by when I have more time to look around. She has stuff from all different time periods as well as jewelry, accessories and shoes! It was so nice of her to rent us the outfits too! And I would have been lost without her guidance! There were no other shoppers at the time and I felt like I had a personal shopper :) it's the little things that make small businesses stand out! I can't wait to go back! read more

They done gentrified the thrift store y'all! Not to discredit the dope vintage finds - some dating back to the 20's... lots of fantastic pieces. However, I think $24-$38 for a t shirt is ridiculous, especially considering the cost paid for said items. I do love the unique planters lining the windows that bring a fresh feel to the shop. However, I can't afford a single item in this place. Its sad to grow up in a town relying on thrift stores since childhood for clothes and home goods only to have one crop up with all quality items that you'd have to eat sleep for dinner to afford anything at. I see items in the shop I saw a year ago when I last went... I think that speaks for itself. Selling a child's shirt from Harmony school passed out free now being sold for $24 is just .. the fuck? I appreciate the hustle & the carefully curated pieces In this shop, but please consider pricing for the community, not the Greek kids from NY that need an outfit for their 80's theme party. read more

Tonight I had the worst shopping experience ever at the Cherry Canary, and let me tell you I am an experienced shopper with years of shopping under my belt-pun intended. I found a great cardigan amongst rows of junk, and was looking forward to trying it on when the shop girl-the owner of this second-rate establishment I am assuming, said to me "Oh, that's mine, I was meaning to take this off the shelf earlier but I forgot" and then promptly took the garment out of my hands. My gut tells me that she saw me with the piece, loved it and then decided to just take it from me. Totally unprofessional. And even if she did forget to take it off the shelf, in any store that values its customers and the integrity of its service it would have been too late to ethically claim the piece. Either way, obnoxious to the core and gauche. I will never shop in this store again. read more

Records, decorations, and vintage clothes. I could have spent hours here. Really great and well-curated selection. It's beautifully decorated inside with paintings and weird, old tchotchkes. Every item in there is worthwhile and it feels like care was taken in choosing what is being sold, as opposed to just putting out anything that seems old/aged/vintage. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to even write a review just because I didn't want everyone to swarm to this hidden gem and take all the good stuff! i went here today and loved it! lots of unique pieces and in my opinion very reasonably priced for the good, curated pieces they have here. i've been to other vintage stores that were way more expensive. i didn't get anything but my roommate got an IU NIKE jacket for only $15! i would 100% recommend this place! read more
