Good selection of beads, findings, crystals and even a basket of geodes to open. Knowledgeable, helpful staff (owner?)

You can get here, but some portions of the Parkway may still be closed due to Hurricane Helene. The parking lot is part of the Mountain to Sea Trail, and you can get on it here. So if you want to go for a walk and stretch your legs or just be out in nature, you can go view a scenic overlook. The building was designed to blend in with nature. In the lobby when you enter, there are sometimes demonstrations of the crafts taking place. You can watch and talk with the artist. There are clean restrooms as well. There is a shop on the first level, and it is said to be the oldest craft shop in the country. The work is high quality, and features many different forms of art, from glass to wood to metal to textiles to paintings to jewelry. I do love it all, but most of it is too steep for my budget. If you fall in love with a specific artist, it is worth looking them up directly or checking independent regional shops to see if smaller, more affordable pieces from their collection are available elsewhere. There is a long ramp up to the galleries that show Southern Appalachian art. There are the permanent exhibits and then the pieces that rotate. There is also an exhibit about the Blue Ridge Parkway's history upstairs. Make sure you take the time to stroll through. Also look out the large windows at the views. Before you leave, check out the Blue Ridge Parkway information center and gift shop inside. This has unique items that I don't find at the Parkway's main gift shop, and these products fit my budget much better.
