I arrived for my appointment and the technician asked me if I had any other concerns which I did, he spoke with the dentist & she advised him to just take images of the teeth that I had concerns of. After the dentist met with me I went to make a follow up appointment regarding my sensitive tooth, I approached the receptionist desk where she was whispering to the receptionist. I was told by the receptionist that the dentist wanted Imaging of all of my teeth & she informed me that my insurance would not cover the x-rays and I would have to pay out-of-pocket reason being that the dentist requested only three images that were just taken by the technician. The dentist was well aware that I had not been to that office in one complete year, why wouldn't she advise the technician to take imaging of all of my teeth? When I asked to speak with the dentist all of a sudden she was busy. This is unethical on her part & quite honestly bad business, she was quite unlikable & made the impression that it was more about making money than giving great care, I will not be returning and I advise anyone to use caution when dealing with Shoreline Dental in Milford Connecticut! (Please take the time to check Shoreline Dental's reviews on Google as well there are quite a few with One star and people complaining about the Care that they received)!! Every single staff member I talked to yesterday was wonderful and genuinely cared that you walked through the doors and felt comfortable and welcomed. The office looks brand new and is sparkling clean. I did my teeth cleaning - where they had TVs in each of the patient corners- even one on the ceiling - which I thought was a really fun touch. When Dr Jason came in to check on me he found not one, but two cavities - the first ever in my life! He has an opening pretty soon after so I stayed and he took care of them 15 minutes tops. I walked out the door with a smile and a great swag bag of Shoreline Dental merch. This place is the real deal from top to bottom. I had…read morea dental emergency and saw Dr. Martinez on a Saturday and while nervous, I trusted Dr. Long who had Dr. M. covering. Fast forward to Dr. Long expanding his practice and moving to the Old Saybrook office and Dr. Martinez taking over the Milford practice... Dr. Martinez is as caring a person as he is a magnificent doctor. Despite insurance limitations, Dr. Martinez worked with me to achieve my goals, attempting to save a tooth most other dentists would've simply extracted and looking at both long term and short term advantages to particular treatments. He made me part of my treatment plan and I never felt I had to do anything I was unsure of. When my father died, I needed to fly across the country for the memorial service. The day before I had to leave, I broke a tooth and called Dr. Martinez. Even though the office was closed, he quickly called me back and worked out a mutually beneficial time to see me. He came in on a Sunday morning at 6AM to fix my tooth before I had to get on the plane. The procedure took almost 2.5 hours and he had plans with his (then) pregnant wife for later that morning. His wife came to the office when he was finishing up to pick him up and had nothing but kind and sympathetic words for my loss. He never charged me a dime for that visit. Whenever I've had an issue where the out-of-pocket charge is more than I can afford, he puts payment on the back burner to ensure that I am healthy and comfortable. Dr. Martinez is a dentist who is a caring human being first. He has a way of helping his patients achieve what they don't think is possible in terms of care. He doesn't allow insurance to dictate treatments (he'll save a tooth instead of extracting it even if the insurance would indicate extraction as the recommended course) and works with patients on payment - both in terms of the total owed and allowing payments to be made on the patient's ability to pay. Recently I learned that Dr. Martinez is working from Life Long's Tolland office. Despite the fact that it is an hour's drive for me (instead of the 5 minutes between my house and his Milford office), I will be making the road trip because there is no one I trust more with my dental care than Dr. Martinez. I cannot recommend this dentist strongly enough!!

The practice is nicely designed with several different private rooms for the hygienists to do routine cleaning and exams plus the Dr works on patients in private rooms as well. I have been a patient of Dr Cogguillo's for some time and have found the Dr and his staff to be very efficient and caring when an issue with my teeth happens. The Dr is usually very gentle when examining and tending to a filling or other dental procedure. Ginny ( oral assistant) and Jean (front desk) have been working together at this practice and two former practices for years. I am sure that there are others working at this current practice who are long term employees as well. I first met Ginny and Jean when I started going to Dr Saunders after moving to the area. The fact that they are still working at this practice means that there is stability which is an important factor when talking medical care. This is a good independent dental practice.

The turning point was the latter part of 2009. I lost one tooth, wanted an implant. He and his hygienist talked me into a bridge. In good faith I trusted their judgement. After the bridge, the two next teeth became pushed over. The first front tooth crossed the other front tooth. Initially the bridge seemed good. It knew it was tight so I knew I was right when the teeth got pushed over. He did nothing about it, defended himself and said he had to fill the space. In may 2024 the first tooth fell out, my front tooth became straight again. On May 21st I went to his office, he took xrays, he knew I would now lose the front tooth, wanted to do a second bridge, with not adjustments to the failed bridge he made. I said absolutely not. He purportedly referred me to an implant dentist also in Milford and told me he would call when he heard from the other dentist. Two weeks after my visit I called to simply inquire if he heard from the dentist he said he sent my xrays to on May 21st, he and his receptionist were agitated that I called, and I got a response of I told you I you I would call you when I heard from him. Fortunately I found a wonderful periodontist through my family members.
