The staff is super friendly and the campground is a quick drive to town, not far from Ironstone Winery and Murphy's. The cabin was spacious and we loved that there was some tree cover for shade. Also thought the cooking pavilion with sinks and stove burners was really convenient. With that said, was it worth $187.50 per night to stay in a log cabin with no amenities, that not been cleaned ahead of arrival? No, wouldn't do it again. Upon arriving to our cabin and paying $25 to check in 3 hours early we found it full of spider webs and leaves. We also noticed that when other people had checked out during out stay no one came by to check or clean the cabins. Our cabin had 2 ceiling fans, one of which the chain was broken or removed so only worked with the light on. This made for very hot nights. The bathrooms were close by and pretty clean but 1 of the 2 bathrooms was locked and unavailable for the majority of our stay. The grounds are pretty desolate, its all paventment and gravel. There is a sand volleyball court where you can also play badminton and a basketball hoop with a dirt court. The pool is not heated but in the thick of hot August it was refreshing. It is old and needs maintenance but did the trick to cool us down. The office has a store, but calling it that is a stretch. It has some candy, soda, firewood and ice. If you forgot something it would mean a short drive to town for provisions. For what we got at that price, I would not book again.

In short, this is a "maybe" recommendation…read more To preface, I have visited Yosemite National Park many many times, with many many stays at campgrounds, the Yosemite Valley Lodge & The Ahwahnee. My family loves this park so much that my husband & I chose to get married there last year. I think overall this is an okay campground for the most part. It is well located within the valley loop. It is close to some popular hiking routes, is next to Merced river and just down the road from Curry Village. However, a few things to note that didn't make it a 5-Star stay. 1) Customer service - upon entry, we were greeted by two very friendly hosts. Our party had a physically disabled person with handicap plates on the car. One of the hosts let us know that the stall we parked a car in (temporarily) to unload was designated for law enforcement, but okayed us unloading for 10 minutes. We appreciated the info and consideration. Nearing the 10 minute marker another/separate host approached us really quite aggressively, yelling about us breaking the law and that we need to move immediately. We explained the discussion with the prior host we spoke to, but this one kept yelling at us about how our car looked empty (it wasn't) and wouldn't stop yelling at us until we moved. We totally get the technicality of the stall, but we did receive an okay from another host and this guy was just aggressive as hell with no regard to ADA considerations in a very temporary situation. No law enforcement used it the entire time we were there (several days), did 10 minutes kill them to let a disabled guest unload?? It just was not very host like and incredibly unprofessional. Approach would have meant everything. To add to the poor customer service, we were later accused of pushing the limits with our tents and having more than 6 people (we only had 4 people) despite other campsites directly next to us having at the least 8-10 people, who lit fires mid-day, who had on occasion left their fires completely unattended, and who smoked weed and screamed & talked loudly way after noise cutoffs.. yet no host was approaching them about any of that. 2) some campsites were way overgrown with weeds and fallen over tree trunks. 3) no soap in the bathrooms. As a lover of this park who has stayed more times than I can count, the stay this time at North Pines overall was just okay. The lack of customer service and disregard for disabled persons from some of the hosts was something I don't think myself nor my family will soon forget. I've/my family had never been made to feel like that before, especially at a place that wants conservation support and goes through so much to accommodate ADA.

There are eleven sites here to choose from that are on a first come basis with none reservable. Number six, seven, and eight are far enough away from the others that you might have a sense of privacy. While seven and eight are 'walk-in' and you'll have to carry your stuff. There are only a couple of pit toilets and water spigots available. This place seems pretty dry but if you simply need a place to pitch your tent because YNP is full then give this place a try. Be forewarned that the camp host is not on site. If things do get a little rowdy you are on your own. Self registration is required so bring exact change of $16.00 or check to pay. Based on a recent experience I would give The Pines two stars but you can't blame a campground for the people who stay there. Can you?

Our campsite was on a slope and they propped up our picnic table on two pieces of firewood which collapsed when we were sitting down. I could hear snoring coming from three different areas of the site. It was decent bathrooms but no soap. Do not recommend at all!!!

This is a confusing site because the site is split in half by a huge felled tree, though there is a passageway cut through the tree. We didn't even realize that the area to the left of the bear box was part of our campsite until another family in our group arrived. The fire ring is on the opposite side of the felled tree from the bear box and there is a second, more level, picnic table as well (the picnic table near the bear box is hopeless; it's at such a tilted angle). Site 42 is near the back so there were no sites behind the eastern side of the campsite (the side with the fire ring). We put a piece of blue tape between the bear box and the adjacent site so kids would not run through our camp site and would instead walk on the path. The campsites are small but they are adequate for two tents. We saw no bears, but lots of squirrels, ants, and some deer. There had been a bear in Site 1 the week before that got people's food. The bathrooms are okay, they have toilet paper, and the bathrooms to the northeast of site 42 are better since they have more stalls and because the sink to dispose of dirty dish water was working properly. There is potable water around the back of the bathroom buildings. The camp hosts offer you free coffee if you stop by in the morning but we had our own Italian espresso. If you have Verizon (or a Verizon MNO or MVNO) you will have one bar of 4G LTE coverage which is enough for voice calls and SMS, but not enough for iMessage, Google Voice, or any internet. If you have AT&T or T-Mobile then you will have no coverage at all (this is typical in the Central Sierra where Verizon bought the local carrier, Golden State Cellular, which had the best, and often the only, coverage. If you drive up to the ranger station that is immediately east of the Big Oak Flat entrance station, and walk maybe 200 feet towards the entrance station you can get "Yosemite WiFi" with a good signal, but you should use a VPN if you're doing anything involving passwords or money since there is no security. My wife and I hiked from Hodgdon Meadow campground to Tuolumne Grove, about a 4 mile hike once you find the trailhead. The trail is really the old road between the two areas. However after about 1.5 miles the road deteriorates and essentially disappears and it becomes a difficult hike due to so many trees blocking the trail that you have to climb over or crawl under, plus it's very overgrown so you keep getting hit all over with branches. You won't be walking 2MPH on this trail so plan for an all-day round-trip (we got a ride back, but that meant an additional 1 mile steep uphill to the Tuolumne Grove parking lot). On another day we drove down to Hetch Hetchy and hiked to Wapoma Falls. Start early because the trail is mostly exposed and it gets hot in the afternoon. There is an area at the falls to safely take a dip if you go to the third bridge. No potable water or bathrooms along the way. If you don't want to carry 2 liters of water then get a life-straw, you can fill up at the falls.

We did not have any bear encounters during our stay. Sites are situated close to each other, so you are subject to whomever occupies the sites next to yours. Water only available at the dish sink at the bathroom in your campground, there are no additional spigots near the sites. Beautiful campground about a half hour drive from Yosemite valley. There is ample downed wood you can find and collect for firewood, but bring a camping axe.

We used the sheet provided to us by the ranger to try to book a campground and got lucky with a one night stay at Crane Flat! They have running water, clean toilets, and a place to fill your water containers that's great for rinsing your cooking items/etc. Our location had a table, a bear lock storage container, and a fire pit with a grill! We also had parking for up to two cars. It is about a 20-25 minute drive down to Yosemite Valley (traffic dependent) and a short walk from a convenience store and gas station. Perfect spot if you're focusing your trip on the Tioga Pass section of Yosemite.

I was able to book one of the last 3 available sites a week before coming. It was definitely considerably colder here than at Camp4 in the valley. I loved the wildness at this campsite and we enjoyed walking around the forested area. There are lots of bathrooms here with hand sanitizer, but no running water. In the morning we got up and drove to Tenaya lake to watch the sunrise. It was a perfect transition to start the day.

North Dome was the first on the list, and Porcupine Flat Campground is conveniently located less than 5 minutes up Tioga Road from the Porcupine Creek Trailhead. The campground is more 'primitive,' which means there isn't running water, and there are pit toilets. I didn't find this to be a problem, just remember to pack extra water for washing up or bring paper plates/pre-packaged meals. What I LOVE about this campground? There were no kids. None. No screaming, no crying, and everyone was asleep by dark. It's a hiker's refuge in the truest sense, and I'm already looking forward to getting in more nights above the Valley floor. The howling coyotes (?) at night were an exhilarating experience. No bears seen or heard, gratefully. Book in advance via Recreation.gov; 2 nights in Oct 24' were $48. No ranger at check-in, we left our confirmation number and site at a self-registration clipboard, but a ranger was making rounds in the morning. You're at around 8,000 ft. elevation here - expect much cooler temps than the entrance gate and pack your layers. Bring plenty of water on your hikes (more than you think you need) and hearty snacks. Have fun!

It is a somewhat smallish park, with special areas for tenters and RV'ers. Full hook-ups available, and sites are reasonably priced. A bonus is that it is right next door to Cedar Lodge, and the campers are permitted to use the Lodge's swimming pool, Most sites, particularly the hook-up sites, have sufficient shade for the very hot summer months. We would not hesitate in the least on staying here again! I definitely recommend staying here!

Yosemite is a gorgeous place…read more This campsite is actually not located within the park itself, it is about a ten minute drive out of the park and towards Nevada. This road is where you encounter magnificent granite mountains and snaking rivers...it's breathtaking! The Lee Vining campsite sits next to a creek and amidst these mountains. It is a drive-in site with plenty of shade and clean (non-flush) bathrooms. The site is well maintained with a ranger present at most times, the payment procedure is simple and on-the-spot. It will usually have empty sites when all of Yosemite has filled up. Why not five stars? Well, there a few things to consider. First, the site does not have any running water anywhere - this is not unusual on pristine sites and not a complaint on my part, but just something to consider if you have kids or require this amenity. Second, there is a creek nearby, so mosquitoes will be up and active for a few hours in the morning and as the sun sets - bring some repellent. Third, a very particular site (#19) is the happy grazing ground of a bear called Cinnamon. Now, Cinnamon was very nice to us as she examined our picnic table and bears are commonplace in yosemite grounds, so, just pick a different spot and you'll be fine. Lastly, the site is not in the middle of the meadows or the valley, so if you are after Yosemite postcard views you'll have quite a drive. This place is more for the person seeking a really good hike up some great peaks (We were doing Mt. Conness - beautiful and a five minute drive) , someone who has already seen the Half-dome and who just wants a real Yosemite nature experience without large crowds of tourists. Enjoy! P.s. the site can be easy to miss in the dark. If you are driving from Yosemite and pass an Inyo forest ranger station, go back two miles ...you'll be right at the turnout for the site.
