I cannot begin to tell you just how much great times i had at Don Pedro, i went here everyday for about a week, i had not been here since i was a teenager . There was this guy Ray working at the marina. This guy helped me out on everything i needed and his demeanor couldn't be more welcoming. He made me feel like i was family, seriously very considerate, very personable. He helped me with even giving me a ride, cause it was a long way to my car. This place and it's staff are rude. They jump to conclusions and issue trespasses on people for freedom of speech. We stayed there from Oct to January this year at moccasin point and the Rangers were rude insensitive and charged us for everything they could think of. Then they jumped to conclusions and trespassed my partner due to freedom of speech. Then they proceeded to throw me out when i was nice and wasn't causing any issues. Now they won't let us come back and they are very dismissive to me. I think they are doing the wrong things to innocent people and wanna get away with it. They are criminals and they should be shut down. read more

Currently the only lake in the area not having a quarantine restrictions with the muscles. There was quite a few people there as the parking lot near the boat launch was near full. The water was great and there was a great breeze. We stopped at the marina store to get ice and then took a ride over to the other side of the lake to the Cafe. The food was great and decent priced. The staff was a bit over whelmed. The cashier at the back register seemed irritated with the kids looking at stuff near the counter and shut her register down. The crowd waiting for their food before us didnt get the right order, they had to remake their food and they told the girls prepping the food that the girl that took their order wasnt paying attention and wrote the order down wrong. Overall the food was good, the deck hands were friendly and we enjoyed the time on the lake. read more

I come here every year just to water ski clean boats big lake I never see people water skiing anymore I think it might be out dated, you can rent other equipment to have fun. It's better then camping. read more

Blue Oaks Campground and Launch gets 0 stars. The campground has no quiet time enforcement. Groups can play their huge speakers to where you can't even hear your own groups conversations but patrol will come and go. The launch ramp is an absolute circus with the public being allowed to swim right behind boats and jet skis trying to launch or come in to get out of water with zero staff in site. Do NOT recommend. read more

There are issues with mice and rats at Fleming Meadows, particularly in the bathrooms which seem to provide shelter for them, and the proximity of the little house is concerning with mice droppings. The campsites for food storage are compromised, and the bathrooms lack functional locks, appearing old and unclean you have more than 70 family's visiting for the weekend and camping this lacks of sanitation I guess until someone catches an illness from this. Meanwhile, the RV area bathrooms are more modern, which seems unfair given that all campers pay the fees aswell. read more

Favorite lake in California, even in early November! Gates were wide open and the lake was still calm and clean.

I camped here in mid October as part of a larger group. It was my first time here. I had a really great time and was really happy with the campsites. Each site had a private parking spot for one car, a cement picnic table, fire ring with flip over BBQ grate, and a locker to keep your food safe from animals. There was also plenty of room to comfortably place your tent and gear. We camped at the Fleming Meadows camping area. It was $30 per night. That includes admission to any of their camping areas which worked out great because the hiking trails are down at the Blue Oaks camping area which is a mile or so back up Bonds Flat Road. The trail is about 3 miles and walks along the side of the lake. If you are into hiking it's a nice flat and easy hike with great views. Having seen both camping areas I recommend Fleming Meadows because the sites are very near the water and there is great beach access. Do not come here if you are bothered by tarantulas. They are everywhere. We saw at least 3-4 each day. They are harmless and leave you alone so if you are unsure don't let them scare you off. I gave them 4 stars because it's such a long uphill walk to the bathroom/showers. read more

When we arrived there was free of charge, but as soon as we got there. It really was empty and nothing else but the lake. I wish the place had more tables and restaurants for entertainment. Other than that the lake was more than a simple lake. I also want to include that I hope the people in charge of the lake enforce stricter rules on how one can bbq. Been coming to this place for over two years ( flaming meadows camp site) until today 5-30-2022, I noticed there are huge roaches all over the campground. They swarmed the fire pit, rv hook up station, and rv tires. I didn't see them during the day, but it is completely different at night! I urge you to be extremely cautious when coming to this camp site you might bring this infestation to your lovely home. Truly disappointed and disgusted!! Bautful Lake, my husband, and my siblings rented a 50-foot houseboat for 3 nights we wished it was long. Great staff very accommodating friendly and helpful boat was clean and spacious. Fishing was slow but caught 2 large catfish. Hope to go again with my grandkids next time. read more

Water water water...... They have a fire work show here and it was really nice. Took the family out for my birthday weekend 6/27-6/30/2019camping and i had a blast. The lake was beautiful and there's a large amount of space for tents. Another perk is the free showers and bathrooms that were both pretty clean for a campsite. Downside is the tarantulas and the service. Another review here mentioned the staff abiding by policies, but only enforcing it to some people. We had a very similar experienced. They charge for additional cars per day, including the day you leave (check out is early morning). On the way out of the campsite, they added an extra charge for parking and this fee was only enforced to certain people. Additionally, the parking fee was paid as soon as she checked in and yet, she was charged AGAIN when leaving. I understand the campsite rules, but there's a prominent disconnect in staff and in who actually has to follow these policies. read more

Don Pedro has 3 camping areas to choose from. We Tent camped for 5 days at the Fleming Meadows area (site A48) It was very nice, we had a great time. We stayed Friday-Thursday. Campsites were pretty full on Friday & Saturday night. A few folks playing loud music in the evening, but volumes were lowered after 10pm. Reservations are required. No dogs allowed. There are water spigots throughout, so you can fill a bucket for washing dishes, or whatever. Cell reception is not great; one bar if I went to higher ground (With T-Mobile). Pros: We pretty much had the place to ourselves from Sunday - Thursday, which was lovely and relaxing. This area has quite a few sites with great views of the lake. There are restrooms with flushing toilets and others with toilet/shower combo. Free Warm Showers. The staff keeps the facilities as clean as they can (the restrooms are very tired looking/could use some fresh paint ). All staff were very nice and helpful. There is a Dollar General store about ten minutes away (there's a 'store' at the marina but very limited stock/choices). Con: apparently we went during Tarantula mating season. I'm told they won't bother you if you don't bother them, but they're still pretty frightening to see (atleast for this city gal). We will definitely be back (but not in October). We will definitely check out the other camping areas at Don Pedro Lake.I read more

We just got back from camping last week and we had a great time!! The camp site was clean, ours came with free wood from the last campers and they had showers! Parking runs about ten dollars a day and they have a store on site for any needed items. Each camp site also has a little spot for food storage. The lake was nice but we spent the whole weekend at the lagoon which was fantastic!! This spot is super hot but definitely nice and we will be back again. read more

Okay my review is based on the Lake and Campground Don Pedro is a great place with good Campsites, Camps come with the fire-pit, A grill and storage for belongings. There are bathrooms and showers which are great Here are my Pros: Don Pedro's lake is a great place to go exploring on a boat whether it's for fishing or rafting they offer Rentals if you do not own a boat The Campsites are great, most have shaded spaces, nice trail to hike up and down. They maintain and keep the sites clean. It's no deal breaker but your average camp ground Here are my Cons: Don Pedro itself was a great place to camp, I don't have much complaints of the place it's self other than the Bathrooms which should be maintained more The biggest issue I had at the site was the fact that there were no enforcements on quiet hour. I read some reviews saying the same but I didn't think it would be that bad. The people I camped by literally stayed up all night, 3am they were telling and revving their engines and at 4:45 they started screaming "good morning" all around. I understood it's memorial weekend and people like to party but they had no type of courtesy for other campers. If they enforced quiet hours rules better I would honestly give this place 4/5 stars. Conclusion: All in all Don Pedro is a great place for camping but I'm iffy on returning primarily because they don't enforce the quiet hour rules. Don Pedro is one of several large reservoirs in the Sierra Nevada foothills. After a while, there's not much to differentiate one from another. Whether you go to Camanche, Melones, Hogan, McClure, Tulloch, or Don Pedro, pretty soon they're all the same, and the only differences are the contours of the golden hills holding in the water. But if you like to fish or waterski across a big lake, you don't care after a while. I think we went here twice when I was a kid. The most memorable time, the temperature got way over 100, it was probably 110, and we kept our shirts on while swimming because we'd get burned after only half an hour if we didn't. The foothills get very hot in the summer, so Don Pedro is one of the places people go to cool off. Don Pedro stretches from Highway 132 to Highway 120. On our recent day trip to Yosemite (April), we camped at Moccasin, which is very close to 120. Don't worry, you can't hear the traffic noise. The campground is not especially scenic, and serves mostly as a sleeping area for boaters. Nice bathrooms, well maintained, with free showers. Three out of five camp areas were open, it was just over half full, and at least half the campers had a boat at their site. We went to sleep with turkeys gobbling, and were awakened at 6am by a roaring boat. Yep, typical reservoir in Central California. How to enjoy Don Pedro: Know what you're getting into. This is not a pretty alpine mountain lake. Avoid BWIs (boating under the influence). Drink a lot to stay hydrated. And relax, even if your idea of relaxing is waterskiing at 40mph. read more

LOOOOVE Don Pedro for wakeboarding!!! Been out a lot this season and loved it every time!! It's HUGE!!! (yeah, that's what she said!!!)...there's so many channels for you to find glass but it can get a bit choppy when it's a busy weekend or the temp drops a little too low. Camping sucks here! The sites at Moccassin Point are small and leave little room for more than one tent, and no place for parking. But still, how can you not enjoy camping when you're with great company?! Gardiner Falls is where most boats will congregate on holiday weekends for an "interesting" tie off boat party. It can get huge...trust me!! (yeah, that's what he said!!) But it's also nice to chill there when it's not so crowded. Some friends even dare to jump off from the top of the waterfall. Beware though, there are rattlesnakes!! Have never had a problem with the sheriffs or any other boats...as a matter of fact everyone seems to be very respectful of the water rules/etiquette so it just makes for all around fun!! I go here a couple times a year. This year, a little upsetting. In August when I went, there were soooooo many retarded (thats right, I said it) people out on the water. If you are going to have a freakin boat, pay the hell attention! I have never seen so many people not paying attention and not having any kind of courtesy. This is how people get hurt. Went last weekend. Much much better with the people on the water. The campsites were a little more crowded than usual. Ranger came by the campsite across the way from us and had to tell the people to chill the *F* out because they are so loud and their little kids are running up and down the campsites dragging their damn feet and shining flashlights in peoples campsite, running and yelling like they are some sort of tribe. The campsites arent bad. At night we had a few little mice running around. They were cute and didnt really bother us. But the ranger did say when he came by that he was collecting rattle snakes and that he had 6 in his bucket. Awesome. Not sure how big they were.....but i bet one of those little kids would have been a good meal for them! lol. I kid! Relax! All and All it was fun and a good time. Especially fun when you tent camp and you are sleeping on rocks, or happen to get up and step on a huge rock. Thats always fun. So just make sure you try and push the rocks aside! read more

This is the second year we go and we love it! This review is for Fleming Meadows campsite. We have reserved #D10 but D13 is the best site (near the water lagoon, easier to get your camping equipment to, close to the restrooms and just one neighbor). Our family loves this place because our two young boys can spend the entire day playing in the lagoon (we just walk up to our site to for lunch and then it's back to the lagoon), we can take walks, the bathrooms are kept clean and there are warm showers. Wait, there's more... there's a trading post where you get a bite to eat, ice cream, beer, ice, firewood, etc. This is a fabulous place to take your kids for a fun camping experience and the best part is it's only ~2 hours away!!! read more
