We have stayed here at the Indian Flat RV park a couple of times. It is right on hwy 140, the road to the west entrance to Yosemite National Park. It is a somewhat smallish park, with special areas for tenters and RV'ers. Full hook-ups available, and sites are reasonably priced. A bonus is that it is right next door to Cedar Lodge, and the campers are permitted to use the Lodge's swimming pool, Most sites, particularly the hook-up sites, have sufficient shade for the very hot summer months. We would not hesitate in the least on staying here again! I definitely recommend staying here! read more

Our cabin was rough, holes in tent and so hot, at least 200 yards from the bathrooms. We thought it would be fun, like camping, but switched to the cedar lodge because we weren't going to make it several times a night all the way to the restrooms. read more

The location of this park couldn't be better. The facility itself needs serious updating, and a little manicuring of the grounds could have gone a long way. Sites are small. Our friends had a small trailer, and site was so tight they couldn't put their step out. Had to step out of the trailer into weeds. Definitely a nice convenient place in off season. 9 miles from entrance gates to Yosemite. Quite reasonable at $48/ night. Suggest calling to book as the managers can recommend space based on your needs. We have a 28 Ft Class A and space 116 was perfect for our needs with full hookup including sewer. We didn't need a pull through as we unhooked our jeep during stay. Easy access for backing in and relatively level space. We were there during Firefall last week ( 4 nights ) and there were probably 6 to 10 others while there. I can see in summer that it may feel a little crowded as they are maximizing space to accommodate more guests. Bathrooms very clean and well set up for trash/ recycling etc. Hidden benefits were access to Cedar Lodge amenities with a small store for necessities, bar and restaurant, and a game room and indoor pool. Also, great if you are traveling with friends or family that want to stay in a nice lodge while you stay in the RV or camp. "Orlando" in the hotel registration is a great marketing asset for the compound as he is knowledgeable and very courteous, clearly wanting you to enjoy your stay. We had a great time. The cabin was nice. It was pretty quiet and low-key here. I see there's a lot of complaints with people with RVs, but we had an amazing time. Great camp ground, this is our second time staying here. Easy access to Yosemite from here, recent expansions have added services. Safe, pretty quiet, other campers are careful to clean up. You can hear the rushing river sound from your campsite! Ahhh... The staff is helpful and considerate- this place is a madhouse in the summer. Just sayin' - we came in mid-June and it was beginning to "ramp-up" so get organized, get you food and menu figured out BEFORE you come. The have a small area of essential items but not everything. Tents / campsites are close together- not touching-but within hearing distance. There are already set-up, standup very nice tent cabins- new, clean - reserve early!! The Showers: this would be a higher rating BUT... the shower water pressure AND temperature is inconsistent... this results in an icy and scalding shower, the knobs are not easy to use/ regulate. The showers are free and there are several. Please improve the showers- we'd be sooo happy! A pool/hot tub is available at the Next door hotel (affiliated with the campground)! The restaurant is closed - at least when we came) there is a bar/burger cafe next door. You WILL use a Bear box for food and sweet smelling stuff (gum, candy) unless you want to share your meals / tent with squirrels-jays - other rodents etc. and you'll disrupt the campground with your squeals & yells. Make a list- check it twice!! we forgot firewood & starter fluid... duh! -yes they have that! We enjoyed our campfire -Thanks!! read more

Guide also states that if there are issues to contact management immediately. It's midnight. A guest is playing load music while people are trying to rest. No management on site to enforce quiet times. No response to multiple emails. No response to calls Avoid these accommodations if you are expecting to have peace and quiet so you can rest. read more

We had great time tent camping here for 3-nights. And this review is for tent camping. + Approx 30 min drive to Yosemite Park + Flushing toilets, hot water, free showers, toilet paper + Indoor pool and jacuzzi at hotel next door + Super market and restaurant next door + Cross the street and there you have Merced River + At night you can hear lovely river sound + BBQ and fire pit for making night fire FYI: no phone reception, no data reception, and no wifi at campground. So as you read lots of good things about this place.... - However only downside is tents are very close and tight together and you don't get that free space. It's definitely more an RV park than campground, lots of RVs in the park . Tents are cramped together and if the next door tent snores/talks you clearly hear it. So perhaps management shouldn't rent out so many tent sites. And let people to enjoy the site. read more

5 stars! Absolutely love this campground. I have stayed in the car camping location and set my dad up with one of the tent cabins. Always amazing. Super convenient showers and bathrooms - you get to access the neighboring property pool and bar...go see Haley at the bar she is great. Keith is an amazing host and was super flexible most recently with the fires that have been crazy in the area. This camp site is super easy to get - less than 20 minutes from the El Portal entry - and has all amenities needed: Shower, Bathrooms, Fire Ring, Bear Box and table. I've been here twice in a row, and it suffices as a campground close to Yosemite. First of all, it's not really a camping-in-the-wilderness type place; as a friend mentioned, it's essentially an unpaved parking lot with firepits. Your campsite is going to be about three feet from another campsite in a long row of campsites. And due to the proximity to everyone else, the campgrounds are going to be loud and messy. That said, it's only about 15/20 minutes from Yosemite Valley, and it's much easier to get reservations here than with any other campground in Yosemite itself. If you arrive past the 10pm closing time (which I've done twice now, due to leaving after work on Friday and being stuck in traffic), the owner will charge your card and leave a map to your campsite on the door with no hassle. The best part of the place is the proximity to the river, which has tons of deep spots for swimming. Beware going down the rapids on your butt, as you might get some surprise bruising from a hidden rock under the water. read more

I really loved this place. Very close to Yosemite, about 7 miles. The grounds and cabin I stayed at was very clean. The host, Keith, was very friendly and accommodating. I went in the winter, so there was only one other guest in the cabin next to me. The river across the street has a small area to explore. The wifi is slow and the connection is weak, at least in the Rock cabin. The cabin has two beds, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Quick tip, bring food with you as the one store (Chevron) is really expensive. The kitchen has all the utensils you need. The cabin also has heat and AC. There is also a tv with some cable channels. I like cozy eclectic placard and this one fits the bill. read more

This gets the stars for the management and the proximity to the river, everything else was only so-so. We were getting there later than the 10p checkin time, so we called ahead to tell them and they left the information about our camp stop taped to the door. Very helpful. The bathrooms are really disgusting. They smell bad and when someone is using the shower the entire bathroom gets humid and starts "raining" from condensation collecting on the ceiling. It was gross. The camp spaces are narrow and, for the two nights we were there, it was really noisy which made it hard to sleep. This is not exactly the fault of the campground though. One of the really great things about this places is that the river is right across the street with some perfectly deep areas to swim on hot days. We made use of this twice and it was really refreshing. read more

The objective - to conquer the Half Dome and go camping with a group of sixteen nature enthusiasts. The mission - to wait at the Yosemite campgrounds and grab three camp sites from the "first come, first serve" sites. i.e. Bridalveil or Camp 4. Was the mission successful? Why yes we did, though we ended up booking three sites at $6 per person, per night (ask Keith for the group rate). Indian Flats was the perfect place for our group, as it was just 9 miles from the Highway 140 entrance and 30 minutes from Curry Village. Hot showers were available (two in the common shower room and one in each restroom), food storage containers with locks, lots of parking, walking distance to Cedar Lodge (groceries, pool, BAR... YES... A FULL BAR!!!) and access to the river with beach. The two outdoor sinks were also a BIG PLUS! Easy to do dishes or wash clothes. So why not five stars? Well, the 10pm noise level curfew was never reinforced, so it got pretty noisy the night before our Half Dome climb. I mostly blame the parents of the obnoxious kids, but the campground staff should have also taken an active role in quieting down those kids. They were up past midnight! One minor con was also the common showers were sometimes draining too slowly. Lots of puddles! Overall a great experience at Indian Flats. We would be more than happy to camp there again. Note: We went at the tail end of the fires, so lots of people canceled their reservations. This was a blessing in disguise for us because the campground was not busy AT ALL (we had almost the entire campground to ourselves). read more

This place was perfect for going into Yosemite. Definitely more of an RV park than campground but it worked. Spots are all very exposed and close together. They have flushing toilets, running water, and free showers which was nice. Best part is after being in the park all day, you can use the indoor pool and jacuzzi at the hotel next door. My fiancée and I tent camped here, we ended up in spot 28 near the empty creek bed and under the oak trees, perfect since it rained a lot. We put up a tarp also from each tree to help with the rain. Each camp spot has a fire ring with grilling grate on it, and food box though I think it was not needed. We were comfortable and the guy at the counter helped us choose our spot. In the day cars are a little loud but at night all you can hear is the roaring river. Of all the good, only bad is how close sites are too each other. Guy showed up in the middle of the night, set up next to us and it was loud as hell and he wasn't even making much noise. Normal campsites give you some privacy. Luckily no one else showed up cause of the rain so we were mostly alone. Also spots are kinda small. If every spot was full you'd be staring into everyone's space no matter which way you looked. Lastly, there's a damn yellow light that come on from the back of the hotel, kinda ruins the camp atmosphere. After we put the tarp up it was unseen but still. read more

This was our first time and definitely won't be our last! The location is great, it's about 30 to 45 min or so from the actual Yosemite Park entrance, being able to use the jacuzzi and two swimming pools (indoor & outdoor) from the hotel next door was fantastic! ! Being literally across the street from the river was a plus. If you drive about 5min further down you will be able to find a better location in the river to swim in. I would recommend you reserve a spot that is near the road side (along the white fence) if you want to have some shade. The restrooms aren't spotless but weren't as bad as I thought they would be. I've seen sooo much worse at gas station restrooms then there. Our time there was great ;) read more

Secondly, the owner, guy at the front was great, I checked out the bathrooms and showers, sure they're old but they're really clean, I've seen much worse. I've got Wi-Fi, sure I had to pay, big deal. There's a store next door and Yosemite is so close. I'll be staying here again for sure, If you don't like it here go stay at the KOA at Mid Pines, good luck with that one! read more

My daughter rent a house actually is trailer house, we paid $175, July inside living area window have air conditioner, temperature is 89 inside. The dining chairs and sofa is very very old, look like 20 years old and dirty. we scare to touch at all. we put chair around sofa. The owner is very friendly, but it is not worth to pay that amount stay so hot indoors. Outside the patio table and chair is dirty, grass seems never cut. read more

Location, location, location! The best thing about this campground is its location, as others have mentioned. We stayed in an RV on our way into and out of Yosemite and found it to be a great place. We didn't use the showers or bathrooms (since we had our own), so that didn't affect our opinion. The use of the indoor pool (heated to about 90 degrees!) and spa next door is a huge plus in our book. The staff was friendly enough, no complaints there! Yes, the RV sites are very close together and you are very close to the road, but we found it to be quiet nonetheless both nights we were there. The RV sites seemed to be suited better to the smaller rigs (less than 30 feet). Not sure if our review would be as glowing if we had stayed in a tent, because the bathrooms and showers did not look very appealing. read more

I have zero tolerance for rude people but everything happens for a reason right? We stayed overnight at the campground that we were so thankful to reserve and after waking up, noticed on our invoice that the campground was trying to overcharge us on something so we went to the office to inquire. Children over 6 are considered 'adults' here so there was an extra $7.00 per kid per night added. There also was a $5.00 per dog per day fee. Ok, pricey but no problem. (They were trying to charge us for 4 kids when we only have 2). The guy in the office was probably one of the rudest people I've ever dealt with. So rude, in fact, that we ended up leaving not knowing if we could find another spot. His answer to anything we asked him was honestly, 'I don't care!' Hahaha! Over and over, 'I don't care!' I about shit! Location to the park is nice but I'll gladly drive an extra 30 minutes to deal with nice staff. We ended up in Mariposa at the fairgrounds and it's wonderful. $21 cheaper each night, fast free internet and a big grassy area for my kids and dogs to run. read more

We stayed in one of the pre-fab tents. It had carpet, a mini fridge, a ceiling fan; it was great! The "bathroom/showers"? More on THAT later. Probably the best part about staying here is going to sleep to the sounds of the Merced! I either make the sex sounds or hear others making the sex sounds when I go camping, so it was nice that the river drowned out the others for a change. BUT THE BATHROOMS!!! Omg. Roughing it hippy types would be cool with it, but I WOULD NOT put my bare feet ANYWHERE on the floors. The dirt outside the showers is cleaner than the floors inside the showers, srsly. Also, the sinks were horrendous, crap stains all over the toilets. One toilet, I kid you not, had a pile of plastic bags in, on, and around the bowl, and, guess what, perched like the Star of David on top of a demented Christmas tree was a tampon applicator. Think of the type of V that THAT went into! If she's uncouth enough to do such a thing, imagine what other things she's down for. Other than these gross things, we really did enjoy our time, so I guess I mostly recommend it? read more

We only stayed here one night for a visit to Yosemite but next time we will probably stay two. We requested a spot with a fire pit as not all of the sites have them. The sites are very close together but everyone seemed to be following good campground etiquette so it wasn't really an issue. The owner was very helpful when my husband realized he forgot his tool box and we needed a wrench to get two of our stabilizer jacks down as we were parked right next to a short wall and the wrench that came with the trailer was too long. We did not take advantage of the pool and hot tub next door but if we had stayed another night we would have. It is very close to the El Portal entrance to Yosemite and it isn't too far to drive back to Mariposa which we did for dinner. read more

Two dirty toilets for 50+ people. The water heater was broken and it stayed like that for three days, even though the camp was full. So everybody took cold showers. Zero stars for hygiene. Friendly management. The entire campground feels improvised. read more

Great location, showers are clean, hook ups easily accessed. Will say however that the sites are cramped, no grass, very close to the street. Lost 2 stars for bad customer service. Campground owner came to our site white knuckled at 9:30 and called the police on us 10 minutes into quiet hours--after we had already quieted music down, but still complaining that our conversation was too loud...they allow 6 people on a camp site yet we can't talk? Mind you we had a 11 month old infant who managed to sleep through our "noise" and nearly half our campers had gone to bed. When officers came they literally said "sorry guys, we expected a drunk crowd" and stayed to chat with us about the park. The real reason this guy called is because he lives in a house near our site and could probably hear us even at a conversational level. Well don't expect good reviews or repeat customers if we aren't allowed to sit around a campfire at night and talk. The park owner was also found loitering in our site during the day, looking around at our things. Claimed our dog was outside an hour unattended. Complete and total lie. He was in our camper. Had he of been tied up outside, he would have been barking non stop. This guy is known to be a jerk, and although I wouldn't say it's a good enough reason not up camp there, don't expect any smiles or extra accommodation. read more

If you're desperate for a place to tent camp near Yosemite and this is the only option, then it will meet the requirement. It's camping in a dusty gravel parking lot, trach everywhere, with the adjacent tent 3 feet away. When we stayed, the place was packed with tour groups of kids who stayed up yacking until 2 am, then got up at 6 and yacked some more. No sleep! Don't stay in campsite number 4; the lights from the bathroom and sinks will flood your tent all night. Management makes no attempt to enforce quiet time, in fact, they emptied the trash at 11:30 at night. At least we got to use the pool at the hotel next door, and we did get to see Yosemite. great place if you are looking for a place to stay up late partying with your friends and if you're on a budget. The location is good too--close to Yosemite valley. But don't stay here if you want a decent night of sleep, if you want to see the stars (flooded with light all night) or if you think you want to use the bathroom or shower. Too crowded and too disgusting. Also, a bit hard to watch the tourists leave the water running while they go get their toiletry bag in the next town (no water regulation here even though the river across the way is struggling to exist). The management team is extremely nice but I would trade in some of that niceness for a bit of regulations regarding the 10pm quiet time. read more

BEDBUGS IN THE CABINS!! They charged us $169 + tax to stay one weekday night in the large cabin (ridiculous price). The cabin was not well-maintained. Lots of dirt/scum buildup in corners, cabinets, in the little refrigerator, all around. Yucky place. The sheets looked as if they had not been changed. Barely pulled up and crumpled. Then the kicker: at 10PM we found a bedbug crawling on the bed blanket. Unfortunately for the management, my husband is an entomologist and knows exactly what bedbugs look like. This was a bedbug. We showed it to management. They were very accommodating and immediately refunded us and set us up in the adjacent hotel, Cedar Lodge, which was very clean and friendly and LESS EXPENSIVE. They only charged us $99, but normally their fee is $159. Will stay at Cedar Lodge again! However, we have serious doubts that the Indian Flats Management has dealt with the bedbug problem. Although they apologized and moved us, they seemed unconcerned. "Oh, in the summer, bugs tend to come out more," was what the owner said to us. We write this review to warn others that you could easily pick up bedbugs from staying somewhere one night and take them home with you. All it takes is one female to crawl in your belongings and lay eggs and you would never know it until your house is infested. We are not a high-maintenance family by any means. Love to camp. But I object to a business who gladly takes your money and provides you with grossly substandard service. If they had charged only $50, i might be more forgiving of the dirty conditions. To charge $169 and act like that is normal when the hotel next door charges less and provides truly clean and comfortable rooms is simply dishonest. Do your research prior to booking! read more

This was a great choice for camping near Yosemite, you can't get closer. We were traveling in a rented camper van and the small site we were given worked perfect. The campground is next door to Cedar Lodge and there is a restaurant & bar there as well as a small store. The food at the bar was great and the beer was mighty cold. The campground showers were in pretty good shape, not perfectly clean, but good enough. There were even some that were outdoor stalls. The gentleman operating the business was friendly and accommodating. The Yart system bus runs right in front of the campground which made getting into the park easy. perfectly functional place to camp. bathrooms mostly well-serviced and clean though when the big busloads of river rafters come through, the staff should double check the restrooms right after to restock. showers were good - not coin-op. could hear the river raging all night which was great for sleeping. sites are mostly open and very close together; bring ear plugs and eye mask and you'll be fine. idiot next to me was sawing firewood each day at 5:30am because he was too cheap to buy firewood - but that's not the mgrs fault, just part of public camping. best part was use of the hot tub and pool at the hotel next door. great after a long day of hiking!! free wi-fi would get it to 5 stars read more
