This has always been my favorite place in central Ohio to pick apples. It's in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but fresh air, perfect place to grow apples. I love that it's no-frills, only thing besides picking apples was some honey for sale. Most people I know in Columbus recommend Lynd Farm or Orchard & Co for fall apple picking outings, but my personal favorite for picking apples is CherryHawk Farm. They're smaller but have basically the same variety of apples to pick from. The added bonus at CherryHawk is that you can buy a hand-made wooden basket to carry your apples in, instead of just getting a clear plastic bag. And I believe the cost of the basket + apples here is competitive with the cost of just the apples at other places. CherryHawk also has a sunflower field that you can enter and pick sunflowers to take home with you for free after you're done picking apples! One caveat is that since they're smaller, their apples get picked through quicker too. If there's a specific type of apple you want, be sure to follow their website regularly in the late summer/early fall so that you don't miss out! read more

We visited Cherry Hawk Farms today and had a wonderful time! It helped that the weather was absolutely perfect which obviously has nothing to do with the farm itself but it really added to our day. The price to enjoy the farm, pick apples, and explore the sunflowers, seems reasonable at $30 for two people. We got two big bags of apples which we honestly have no idea what we will even do with all of those. We really enjoyed using the apple pickers and had a great time trying to find different kinds around the farm and trying different varieties. The Sunflowers are gorgeous and I have never seen so many in my life. There were also butterflies flying around as well which was really beautiful. If you get a chance to get there in the next few weeks while they are still open I highly recommend it! read more

If you can believe it, I've been in Columbus for 15+ years now and never visited any of the farms dotted along the rural periphery. I had a week off for our 15th wedding anniversary and the idea of going apple picking, baking the entire week, and spoiling my spouse with a myriad of deliciousness from the oven captivated me. They had rows and rows of a Japanese apple variant that is delicious to eat in hand or for cooking, which was perfect! For a modest fee you can fill a whole basket to the brim that they supply! They even give you a claw like appendage to reach apples high up (but word of advice - just because it's up high, doesn't mean it's the best!) All in all - it was a blast and a great unorthodox couples activity. Recommended when needing to just get outside while still doing something together. Also, baking with apples YOU picked? So happy a coworker told me about this spot. My mom was visiting from out of town and I wanted to take her apple picking. All I've ever heard about Columbus apple picking is all about one specific place out east. I'd always heard it's good, but usually insanely packed with tons of kids. Nothing against kids, but if you're like me, if you don't have them, you don't really wanna be around a bunch of them screaming and running around when you're just trying to have a chill weekend. I was nervous about going to the other place until a coworker told me about CherryHawk. She told me it'd be closer to where I live (by Tuttle) and that it's waaay less crowded. So we gave it a shot. I am SO happy I did. We got there at 10:45am on Sunday...we didn't realize until we got there that they didn't open until 11. Even still, the woman greeted us and told us we could go on ahead and start picking. She explained the varieties to us and invited us to grab an apple picking stick (a nice touch!) and head out. Her husband then came over and told us that since rain was in the forecast, we were welcome to drive our car through a clearing in the orchard in case we got caught in a storm. Super nice and helpful couple! The two apple varieties available when we went were called Mutsu and Enterprise. One sweet, one tart. Both delicious. We enjoyed our time together picking apples and hanging out. Around 11 a few families showed up, but it was definitely not what I'd call crowded. The apples were a great price - $15 for a big bag. They even have some pheasants and chickens you can go see. Never seen black and white chickens before visiting this place! Will definitely be back next season!!! read more

We chose to go apple picking at Cherry Hawk because it wasn't too far away and had good online reviews. Cherry Hawk is pretty far out in the country but not a bad drive. They have a gravel parking area and a little check-in tent where you can buy one large bag for $15, two medium bags for $15 or four small bags for $15. It's $15 no matter what. When we went, they had three different types of apples that were ready to be picked: Yellow Delicious, Mutsu, Enterprise. That's the main reason why I didn't give it five stars. I would've liked a wider variety of apples to pick or even have pumpkins available. I also would've liked to purchase some homemade apple cider or apple pastries. The restrooms are just two Porta Potties so nothing fancy. The family members were making homemade apple butter over a big copper kettle pot. We chatted with the folks making the apple butter and I got to stir the pot for a little bit. They said there was over 22 gallons of apple cider in the apple butter! I'd recommend Cherry Hawk for a nice casual apple picking experience. read more

This was a perfect Sunday afternoon activity! The cutest little apple orchard that could possibly exist! $35 dollars for a bushel of apples, but beware it gets heavy fast! The appeal of this location is that they don't have anything set up like a bounce house etc that would attract a large amount of children. Was not over crowded line moved very quickly. Perk was we went with some of the sunflowers still in bloom and we got some great pictures. They also will let you take sunflowers home if you buy apples. This is the second time I've gone apple picking in Columbus now. We chose to try our CherryHawk farms because they have an updated Facebook page that says what apples are available etc. When we arrived I was surprised how busy they were. But despite being busy, it didn't really FEEL busy unless you were in the parking lot. I don't entirely understand their pricing--$15 for a largeish bag, $15 for two small bags-- basically you're paying $15 unless you get a bushel. We went on a Saturday and apparently they have music on Saturdays. It was really nice walking around picking apples while the sound of bluegrass was dimly in the background. The apples themselves were also great! This was a fairly accessible apple farm. They have picnic tables for if you want to sit and eat. They provide extended reach apple pickers, too! This was awesome because I'm too short to reach most apples! Of course if you have mobility issues the orchard might not be very accessible. The ground is uneven and littered with apples, which might be challenging if you have a hard time walking or use wheels. I am excited to try other apple orchards this year, but this one is definitely a keeper! read more

I was headed to another Orchard when I realized they were not open on Fridays, so I frantically started looking up places near Dublin/Plain City that are open for U-pick on Fridays. I had never heard of Cherry Hawk before, but I'm glad I found it! First off, their website is very informative, giving exact directions to the orchard, as well as listing what apples they currently have available for U-pick! What a great idea (assuming that this is kept up). When we arrived, the owner was very helpful and it was not busy at all! The fields were close to where we purchased our bags and they accept credit cards. The only thing I noticed was that the apples were very small and there were a ton on the ground, which may have been due to the weather this summer. I don't usually make it out this early in the season so this may be normal, but we were still able to fill our bags with delicious apples! read more

This is one of my favorite places to visit in the fall! It is a beautiful and serene setting. Beautiful orchard, with wonderful apples. Fields of gorgeous sunflowers. The entire property and very well cared for. The apples are reasonably priced and delicious, with many varieties. The owners are so welcoming and their customer service is the best. It's the best old-fashioned apple-picking experience I have had in our area. I grew up near there, so it brings back happy and nostalgic memories. Although we arrived a little after 6 even and they close at 7, they graciously let us stay as long as we wanted and even gave us buckeyes to go. CherryHawk Farm is a fun, casual place. We had a nice experience here in July. The apples available were Redfree and William's Pride. We were practically the only people there and had the entire orchard to ourselves! I saw a review that said it's $15 no matter what, but that wasn't the case on our visit. They had tiny bags ($5), medium bags ($10) and big baskets for $20. The big baskets are reusable and provide you with a discount if you bring it on your next apple picking adventure. The owners prefer that you leave your pets at home, as it excites/upsets their border collies. I would also advise wearing boots or sturdy shoes. It would be hard to navigate the orchard with flip flips or sandals! I wore strong, sturdy Doc Marten boots and still rolled my ankle stepping in a hole. The ground is really uneven, plus there are obviously apples everywhere on the ground! Watch your step and happy picking! read more

Although I am not a veteran apple picker, I had a really great experience here with my wife on an unseasonably warm fall day. It's pretty easy to find and far enough away that it actually feels like an orchard. The set up is pretty simple - park, grab some bags or a basket and a "picker" and head to the orchard. They put up signs to give you a general idea of where the ripe apples are, but make sure to check the website for up to date information on the availability of your favorite varieties. When we went there were a fair number of cars in the lot, but we were pretty much on our own in the orchard itself. read more
