There are plenty of benches and tables for the humans to sit, water bowls for the dogs, and owners are generally good about picking up after their dogs and watching that they stay out of trouble. Beautiful open grounds with two fenced play areas; small dogs 25 pounds or less and large dogs over 25 pounds. Each with seating, picnic table, shade trees, and ample space to chase a ball or another tail. Our 26 pound pup blended in very well with the other dogs all ready there, which consisted of a large variety of other well behaved canine. We stayed for about an hour plus and socialized with the dogs and their human counterparts. Nice time and great place for your Fido(s) - 3 max per owner. Our only concern, the Park does not have a water station for the dogs, community bowls were present and guests provided water to be shared. Next time we'll bring a gallon or two to share as well.

I would bring some water if possible to fill up the bowls for your dog, I do not believe there is a water source on site. Seems like the type of place people stop by to let their dogs run while they are walking their dogs, which I love. Pop in for a little bit and let the dog run, then continue on your walk! My dog has only met lovely fun dogs there so far. Great location- I'll be going here a lot during my time in New Haven.

Union Street Dog Park was one of the selling points for me when I decided to move to New Haven. The…read morepark is in a convenient location and is a pretty decent size that allows for larger dogs to roam around, sniff, and do what large dogs do. Most of it is gravel but there's still some dirt and grass. The dogs are usually chill and that sentiment goes for the owners as well. There's a group vibe as it seems most of the owners know each other. Maybe if Roscoe (my dog) stops trying to hump their dogs, I'll get in the clique too. Doesn't hurt to bring a bottle of water - there's usually a water bowl there. Oh. One side note: Sometimes you'll run into the occasional "urban camper" hanging out in the dog park sans a dog of their own. They're just usually doing urban camping activities like taking a nap, drinking a forty or whatever. They don't seem to bother people or cause trouble though.

It's also home to the town's massive indoor swimming pool that is used year-round. The artificial turf lacrosse field is absolutely beautiful. There are also baseball, softball, and soccer fields. The paved walking paths are excellent for walking, jogging, and taking your dog for a stroll. The park has two covered areas with picnic benches that are great for having a bite to eat in the shade. I love the large grass area where they are building a beautiful stage for outdoor concerts. There is a separate building with clean outdoor restrooms, and several large parking lots.
