I've only explored the children's section which is where I spend most of my time because of my toddler. They had clean family bathrooms. There was a book case shaped like a train and a little play train station. There was a baby section for them to crawl in; toys, play kitchen, and train table. I loved that there were little reading nooks built into the walls. In front of the librarian desk, there's a huge play tree where kids can go in it. On the side, a big craft room with blocks and magnetic tiles. They had a fish tank, a tank with worms/isopods, computers, and so much stimulation for the little ones. I'm sure they have great activities, events, and resources as with other libraries. The librarians were friendly; it was a busy Saturday afternoon because it was kind of rainy out. The little kids were being rowdy at one point and the librarian shushed them in a stern but friendly way. All of us parents were trying our best, but things got out of hand when you mix a bunch of little kids together lol. Overall, I wish this library was closer to me, I would be there often!

There's a lot of open space and on a Saturday, an excellent place to let a dog stretch his paws and sniff. The library itself is beautifully designed - you walk into a little book nook and stare into a stained glass window. The interior has dark wood accents with a decorated children's space enclosed from the adult's, and a small reading area with a huge ceiling adorned by a quilt. The vibe of the building was very studious, and definitely encouraged reading.

There are lots of interesting book displays all over the place. There's even an ongoing book sale too. Check out a wall of characters from popular children's books in the Children's room. It is very beautiful plus the mural next to the entry of its room as well. The staff are courteous and very nice people in charge of this library. Outside library premises, it also features the Little Free Library. The exterior building is spectacularly awesome. It's worth stopping by if you're in the area and love reading books.

It's not one of the beautiful, quaint, old and historic buildings that many of the New England libraries have taken residence in but it certainly does have a unique charm and style all it's own. Bright, spacious and extremely comfortable, the Southington Library is a very cool place to grab a book or magazine, stretch out and relax. Lots of very comfy chairs and places to ruminate, thaw out or unwind. One of the things that really stands out is how clean everything is. No nasty stains on the carpets or dust on the shelves, everything is spotless and fresh in a very casual and informal way. Of course it has the usual books, magazines, CD' s, programs and computers that are now ubiquitous in modern libraries but it also retains the pleasant feel and inviting atmosphere usually reserved in older and smaller libraries. A nice juxtaposition of the charming old and the convenient new. The staff working at the library are especially friendly and pleasant, none of the stern, strict and severe attitude found in some urban libraries. This is a library that welcomes exploration and inquisitiveness. Even though the building doesn't stand out with any charismatic or historic characteristics, the extremely pleasant, comfortable and friendly atmosphere makes the Southington Library one of my very favorites in all of Connecticut.

Our daughter's first teachers were here during Busy Bee's play/learn group and learned so much. We are so grateful for that experience. Many interesting and fun programs over the years from craft projects to fantastic performances. The staff are amazing humans who put 100% into everything they do, not just for the kids, but the whole family. Very knowledgeable and supportive. Great books of every kind, including tough subjects and how to talk to kids about anything: bullying or bodies or big life changes. The adults area is great and I have enjoyed taking my laptop and doing quiet work by the enormous windows at the provided desks- that have outlets! Also there was a problem with a little one and Miss Corine defused it and handled the situation with much compassion and expertise. All the woman have helped our little one from being shy to wanting to making friends and participating in the events and open play. I wouldn't identify this as a quiet working space but I did notice there was a computer lab at the other end of the building and while there weren't large workstations, it seemed like this area might be a bit quieter. Needed to check in with a library host to get access to a computer and so I ended up going back into the other room. Read for awhile and then headed out. Spoiled with my hometown library and I'm comparing the two but the outside reading area seemed quite lovely and despite being a bit outdated, this library had far more adult reading materials than my own!

This library has a very cute children's department, it appeared to have a jungle theme. There were some kids having a good time. The books are well organized, anything I tried to find, it was there. The library is spacious for quiet, independent work at a computer or with your own materials. I noticed they have magazines and periodicals, some of which I thought were no longer being printed. In addition to books, you may also find games, movies, CDs, and even seeds. Yes, seeds to plant your own tomatoes or cucumbers. I have never seen this at another library. We found a small section of books for sale. Kid's books are $1, adult hard cover for $2. The librarians were pleasant during checkout.

There were plenty of parking and the library was spacious and had an open layout. When you first walk in, the children section is to the right. They had a large children section which was nicely decorated with fake trees and a variety of kids decor. They also had so many toys for the kids; from a toy train table, kitchen sets, cash register, dollhouse, and more. They had a wide array of books too. My family and I spent about an hour in there and loved it. It was pretty busy since it's a weekend and cold out; other families had the same plans as us. Overall, it's definitely a nice library. I didn't talk to the librarians so I can't comment on if they're nice or not.

They encourage the children to borrow books and to be involved in the scanning and stamping process. This is wonderful for the children, who are invariably very happy and excited. We take our granddaughters to "Story time" on Mondays at 2.15. Kerry is a very skilled storyteller and she is so good with all the children. After the story, the children do some painting, which they all love. We are very grateful for this lovely facility. Thank you for all you do to support the children, parents and grandparents (especially grandparents!)

There were renovators all over the place & that should've been my cue... or that the parking lot was COMPLETELY EMPTY. Parking lot was large in size and could accommodate quite a few people. (Maybe 40-50 cars?) Will be back when I'm passing through the area. This seemed to be the best reviewed library around and I will update my review when I've had the chance to experience the place a bit more.
