As a self proclaimed library connoisseur, this is definitely on my top 3 libraries I've been to. The place was huge, like a campus. I've only explored the children's section which is where I spend most of my time because of my toddler. They had clean family bathrooms. There was a book case shaped like a train and a little play train station. There was a baby section for them to crawl in; toys, play kitchen, and train table. I loved that there were little reading nooks built into the walls. In front of the librarian desk, there's a huge play tree where kids can go in it. On the side, a big craft room with blocks and magnetic tiles. They had a fish tank, a tank with worms/isopods, computers, and so much stimulation for the little ones. I'm sure they have great activities, events, and resources as with other libraries. The librarians were friendly; it was a busy Saturday afternoon because it was kind of rainy out. The little kids were being rowdy at one point and the librarian shushed them in a stern but friendly way. All of us parents were trying our best, but things got out of hand when you mix a bunch of little kids together lol. Overall, I wish this library was closer to me, I would be there often! read more

I've been to this library several times for author events, so that's my background with the library. The people of Wallingford seem happy with it though, and the event space is great. There's lots of room, authors usually sell their books, and the lighting is such even dimmed you can see any presentations. There are also restrooms available. The parking is okay - unless you're able to use (and snag) a handicapped spot, the parking is across the road way and down. You will need to use the stairs to access the building and across in. read more

I thought my library was huge! This has tons of available computer setups... a seed library ... a 3D printing area. My own library had one row of psychology books... This library has 3x as many. Extremely impressive & I will absolutely be back! read more

They have a Library of Things, and a Collaboratory (maker space) that goes above and beyond library expectations and enhances the community! I am very grateful for our town library. The ability to borrow books via the park & pick up service kept me sane during the pandemic. What a well run service. If a title was not on our shelves, every effort was made to find it in another town. If a book was wildly popular, orders were placed for more copies. But, above all, the staff is what makes a building so welcoming and in touch with humanity. There were some, about 15-20 years ago, who worried that libraries would soon become obsolete due to the popularity of computers. Many libraries thought long and hard about this dire prediction and re-designed their programs and activities to keep the public interested and to keep libraries pertinent. As we face a future filled with doubt and fear, I have faith that the people of the Wallingford Library will rise to the occasion and continue to offer us the hours of escape we crave. read more

This is a WONDERFUL library, by far the best I've been to in CT. I had been living in Wallingford for over a year before I got around to checking this place out, and boy was I missing out! I borrow books as well as DVDs regularly, and their online system makes it a breeze to request items. I don't have kids, but the children's library is really cool too! read more

As public libraries go, this one is nicer than most. It's almost always busy, and with good reason. Although, a lot of people seem to use it simply as a DVD lender. Their catalog is searchable online, and you can request items (including DVDs and CDs) to be held for you via the web interface. What's more, you can request any book from any public library in the state. It will be then be available for local pickup in the near future, at which time they'll notify you via email. We love this library! With two young sons, I am most familiar with the children's section. My boys love exploring the fish tank, train station, nature corner, and tree reading nook. In addition to traditional book shelves, the train in the middle has bins of books, making in very easy for little ones to find a special book. They also have great programs for kids of all ages, including a summer reading program for non school age kids! read more

Living in Wallingford for almost two years I've found that there isn't very much to do here.. The "WPL" has become my favorite spot in Wallingford because they have a really large selection of books, music, and movies. They have a wide selection of books in all genres and a very nice kids section. The building itself is very nice. Books are loaned out for an entire month, which is great to me since my old Library in Salem, MA only gave you them for two weeks. Their website is great. Not only can you browse and reserve movies, but you can check out when your books are due, when books and films you want are due, and you can set it up to receive email alerts. They also offer free internet use, as well as cheap printing and copying. Another nice thing about the library is their bookstore which sells excess books at yard sale prices. If you're looking for a book or movie then I'd try the library before anywhere else. It's a great way to learn new things or catch up on some good reads or movies. read more

This is a great library. There is something here for the whole family. Being a parent though, I am a little concerned about the bathroom situation. The reflections in the tiles of the bathroom are highly detailed and if you have someone with less than good intentions in the stall next to you, they can view everything. I hope they take care of this because I don't feel comfortable letting my kids use the restroom here. read more

Since the renovations of the Wallingford Library, it is an absolutely beautiful place to venture for resources, computer usage, movies, shows, or just a quiet afternoon of studying/getting work done! The huge inside is well kept and extremely clean, and has almost every book you could ever need (and if you cant find it here, you can ask the friendly staff about the said missing item, and get it in for you within a week!) I was able to ouse the childrens room (which is so beautifully colorful and fun!) for a work project-needing childrens songs for a recreational camp project! It was perfect. Also love going here whenever I need a break from the fast pace of daily life, to browse for a new best selling fiction book, working on a wide array of projects or simply to rent full season shows! I love this library, I was away at college while the renovations were going on, and was so pleasantly shocked the first time I walked back into the new Library!!! from the bulletin boards right at the front door, filled with miscellaneous events in and around WLFD, to the helpful staff, this library is just wonderful!! read more

This is seriously the best library ever. The DVD and CD sections are so extensive. They get new movies in all the time. There is free WIFI and tons of tables with 2 outlets at every table for your laptop. Online, you even have access to the entire Consumer Reports website for FREE! I love being able to take advantage of the Wallingford Public Library. I go at least weekly. read more

Very nice public library with a relatively open floor plan, very clean and well lit, plenty of seating options with power and free wi fi. It's a relatively newly renovated space so the one thing it is lacking is some of that classic old New England charm that many of our public libraries exude but all in all it's a great space for a great town. read more

This is one of the best libraries I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot. It is large, spacious, relatively quiet, and in a great location. Librarians are helpful, when you need them. You can also use private study rooms (you must sign up at the reference desk) for up to 3 hours at a time and these are a hidden gems. Great programs for all ages too. And check out the book seller (open limited hours) for cheap books, videos, and CDs. read more

This place is really amazing for a non-profit business. The book collection is gigantic. I can always find anything I want and they have a wide variety of authors, genres, and years. They have a huge resource selection - from index books, to old newspapers, etc. The children's section is great. Awesome design, friendly staff, and lots of great books and media. The CD and DVD collection is my favorite part about the library. Lots of selections (although the CD's aren't too updated, but still some recent ones). I know at one point they were having a lot of thefts in that section - how awful! Such a great place. The DVD selection is amazing! Easily find the one you're looking for! Lots of great programs - both for children and adults, great computer availability and performance, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Just a great place! As a child, I loved to read and as I age (65 in a few short months) i have found that my love of reading has grown along with me. I usually run in to the Wallingford library and head straight for the fiction section, grab a few books and leave. Several weeks ago I found that I had about an hour or so to kill before an appointment in the area. I wandered around the library and found so much more than the section I usually see. I took a few magazines and sat in a comfy chair by the front windows. I don't know where the time went, but before I knew it, my hour was up and I had to leave. I told my husband that if I ever go missing, to check the library first, because that's where I will be heading. Truly, state of the art. read more
