I've been going to this library for the past 20 years. In some ways it seems like the library hasn't changed (it could use some more updating). However, there are tons of places to study and work and they have literally any book or magazine you could possibly be looking for. There are computers if you don't have your own and the staff is super friendly and always willing to help in anyway. Parking is so challenging here and you might be better off parking in the garage across the street and walking across. Since it's right next to the mall, you can get some shopping done and get some library books! read more

I am huge fan of public library and have been using this one for many years. The selection is very impressive. I am a reader and book lover. Rarely this library system does not have what I want be it cook book or fiction. I brought my son to story time here when he was little. I went to a few programs. Exton library (main library) is spacious with many a area to read or study, computer area. Most of the times these days I put on hold books I'd like and pick it in the library that is next to me. They do have a room for improvement- some book recommendations/ suggestions by staff, adding more interesting programs and of course if possible bigger parking. Still 5 stars as book selection is very impressive. read more

Here for a class. As i pulled up i was struck by the beauty of the construction of the building surrounded by ample parking. Even though they are literally right next to the Exton Square mall,The design makes it separate and apart from the mall and its traffic. Inside it is beautifully laid out on multiple floors with front desks. My questions of the librarians were met with a smile and happily answered. I even noticed beverage service and vending here! This is a huge structure and yet you never feel crowded. The classroom we utilized was very large and set up with at least 30 laptops, comfortable seating and large tables. The projection system was easily viewable from all seats. What a gem of a library. You Chester Countians are soooo lucky!!! read more

I grew up with the Chester County Library and did not realize how spoiled I was until I started visiting some other libraries in the area. I was seriously shocked by how small some were, how few services they provided and how few books they had compared with the Chester County Library. I am a little flabbergasted that no one has written a review for this place yet. I am also a little flabbergasted that I am going to go public with such a great secret. This place is a true gem. This place has an amazing book collection and is run very efficiently so that you can get a book on inter-library loan, should they not have the book you need. They also rent out movies and music for very cheap, and some for free. In addition, their computer room boasts several computers (I think a little over a dozen with macs and PCs). Although they have now limited totally computing time to two hours a day (I am not 100% sure of the exact number), it is really amazing. They also have wi-fi inside if you want to choose to bring your own computer. One of the most fun things this library offers (in addition to authors, talks, children reading sessions, etc.) is their semiannual book sale. My personal favorite day of what is usually a 2-3 day even is the last day when they do a bag sale. You can pay $5 for as many books as you can stuff into a brown paper bag. It is an amazing deal! So, for what one normally pays for 2-3 used books, you can get about 20? 30? Depending on how good you are at stuffing a bag. Like I said, I am crazy for letting go of this little secret, so as for additional details like how early you should get to the bag book sale, I am keeping mum. Suffice it to say, don't come 2 minutes before the door opens! Hahaha read more

The library itself is wonderful. Well organized and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. 5 stars to the Summer Reading program for kids. It's very well done. 2 stars for the parking. Tiny parking lot is always full. 0 stars to the older lady who runs story time for kids. She is gruff, rude and actually barks at the children. This has happened to my children AND other children on multiple occasions. When I mentioned my issues to her boss I was told that people love their story times. So she pretty much told me I was wrong. Other story time leaders are nice, but the older woman needs to retire. read more

I LOVE this place. I spent many many hours here this past semester. Spacious tables with outlets to plug in laptops and other devices, it was a perfect spot for me. A copier was nearby and if I needed to print anything, there were plenty of public access computers connected to a printer. The place is bright and very clean -- seems to be fairly new (esp compared to the beatdown library we have in Camden County). The reference desk people were very friendly and helpful. I have to agree that this library is much better than many other libraries I have been to in the past. CC library has a helpful staff and a very wide selection. They have reading lists for school and other great educational resources especially for high schoolers and college students. This library also has a large section entirely for children, with computers and a special reading area for stories. CC library has so many great things to offer: they also have a great audio/visual section full of popular CDs, many TV series, movies, and workout videos and documentaries. Their magazine section is very large. They have a graphic novel section and a small area for young adult books. The library is really developed and a great place to come and find a book to read. One small problem is that oftentimes the library doesn't carry some material. You might have to put some things on hold, but they do come in quickly. read more

This is the biggest and nicest public library I've ever been to. Located on the side of Exton Square Mall, this place was PACKED on a Saturday afternoon. It was almost more like a playground rather than a library when I first walked in, which was odd. Kids everywhere! I was here for one purpose: to see a kangaroo. We headed up to the meeting room, which was pretty difficult to find. You think they'd at least have some signs up or something, right? The author of the Hidden Clover children's book series was doing a presentation where she brought in her kangaroo, Boomeroo, for a show and tell. She also read one of her books to the children, which was pretty interactive....the kids seemed to really enjoy it. (Like I said, I just wanted to see this kangaroo.) Finally...the kangaroo came out! What a cutie. Okay back to the library. This was my first time here, but it looks like they have a lot of things going on (for free!). I also randomly walked by the DVD rental section and they had a pretty good selection of current flicks. If I lived closer, I'd visit Chester County Library more often (especially if I had kids). read more

This Library is incredible. It's one of the best I've ever known. Why am I giving it only one star? I lost two books that I had borrowed. The library charged me almost $100 for them. They were beat up outdated quickbooks reference books - I couldn't have given them away for free. But, the library policy is to charge those who dare to lose their books the full MSRP value. ok fine. that was frustrating, but, I understand that they need to make money to run the organization. Well, guess what? Not two days after I'd paid for them. I found them. I asked the people behind the desk if I could return them and get my money back...a simple enough request. The man who was asked the question literally laughed in my face and said "Nope, they are yours now." So, even though this is my favorite space to work in - and I will come back for the quiet and the views. The treatment was beyond disrespectful. Out of the hundreds of books I have borrowed and will continue to borrow from this library, dear librarian, you have no idea what was going on in my life that lead me to loose these two books - and I shouldn't need to tell you what was going on - to have the decency of treating me with respect. I'm not usually a fan of library books. I start to wonder about who had the book before me... but times are tough. I'm sucking it up and head over to the Chester County Library in Exton quite a bit. The library is well organized. Although, due to its size, it always takes me a moment to figure out where to go. The computer area always has several open computers when I've needed to use them. Don't quote me, but I think you're allowed to use them for up to 30-40 minutes at a time. Lately, I've been really into borrowing CDs from the library. It's been a wonderful way to expanding my mind and ears to some new music. read more

Just moved to the area from out of state. Very disappointed with this library system. You have to pay $1.50 plus for any sort of popular or new book! They call it a "rental"! And you have to pay $1.50 plus to "rent" DVDs! That's more than RedBox! I have lived all over the country and outside the country, and have never encountered a library that charges for books or DVDs and frankly, charges quite a bit! Yes, sometimes you have to wait a while after placing a hold for a new/popular book or DVD, but never have to pay for it! It seems so wrong to me! The library is supposed to be a treasure trove of media/literature that is FREE! And there is one tiny section of new books that are rentals, but no "staff picks" or theme areas, so no inspiration to find new fave authors etc. I find the library to be like walking into a free candy store, but this system stinks, IMO. Sorry, I'm so disappointed! read more

I'd like to give a huge shoutout to many in the Exton Library for going out of their way to help me with a problem that I had downloading audio books to iTunes in my computer and then onto my Ipod. I called on the phone and explained my problem to a woman in the multimedia department named Zoe. The problem was complicated as I have an old iPod. When I went in with my devices, Zoe had already printed out specific instructions to enable me to do so and she patiently waited until I thoroughly understood the procedures. I truly appreciated the efforts that this wonderful, competent woman took to solve my problem. This library is a gem, but more importantly, their employees seem to be incredibly helpful. read more

I've frequented the Chester County Library for the last 20 years. The employees and volunteers who work there have always been helpful and courteous. The website is easy to use, and quite handy as it lets you put holds on books and request books from other libraries in the system. You can save a lot of money by borrowing movies from the library, and they have a surprisingly good selection of movies, both old and modern. DVD's cost only $1.50 to rent for a week, and you can get two for the price of one on Tuesdays. read more

Having been in Delaware county, and thinking their libraries are nice (which they are), this one blows them out of the water. This library is huge, has great selection and tons of copies of the latest bestsellers. The library itself is comfortable, with plenty of seating. The parking lot fills up quickly, but there is plenty of parking in the mall lot across the street. I don't enjoy that I have to pay for borrowing audio books, but I'll deal with it. read more
