I always hear patients laugh and converse with Dr. Chester throughout the course of the evaluation. Not only does this make children and their family feel positive about this experience but also helps him collect important and accurate information needed for diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations. I have learned so much about his ability to quickly adapt and respond to unique needs within the context of an evaluation, create a safe and welcoming space for all patients, and be incredibly comprehensive in understanding the patient's "whole picture" before determining diagnoses. He is incredibly skilled at assessing so many diagnoses across the lifespan, which is also a very unique skill set for a neuropsychologist. Similarly, he is incredibly effective and efficient in delivering results, answering questions, and writing comprehensive reports in a very timely manner--which can be crucial for patients/families anxiously awaiting test results as well as those looking to swiftly bridge assessment results to treatment resources. He is also very knowledgeable about community supports, which is additionally crucial for critical follow-up processes (e.g., navigating IEP processes, connection to Regional Centers, etc.). I recently received a comprehensive neuropsychiatric evaluation from Dr. Chester. At age 54, I have never received this type of evaluation; however, my medical team and I felt it would be significantly beneficial to take a closer look at differential diagnoses, as it relates to my current psychiatric symptoms and past mental health diagnoses. The first thing he created when we all meant and before my assessment even started is the state of calmness ; that helps you feel you Will be seen and heard and be taken care of. That you don't have to feel afraid with him. That his gentle tone and choice of words and body language weren't ever annoyed or bothered or stressed. He gave no indication of rushing me and my partner when we had shown up late and had issues with paperwork upfront. He made us feel reassured consistently throughout our appointment that it's safe place to talk to him bc it was and that we are in good care with him. Dr. Chester worked to make sure our 6 year old daughter who has Down Syndrome was as comfortable as possible during her over 3 hour evaluation. He was very patient, responsive to our daughter's needs, and accommodating. He worked to make sure both child and parent were part of the process. A very attuned physician.
