We had completed open houses and interviews for daycares while I was pregnant and I will say that this Chesterbrook stood out to my partner and I. It checked all my boxes of being clean, diverse, and a learning environment but it also was organized. I appreciated that each room had a picture and description of each teacher including their background and how long they have worked there. I also loved that there was a dry erase board with information on next diaper and next bottle. As any new parents, we were nervous about the care anyone would provide that wasn't us. Now being at Chesterbrook for over 6 months with our son, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone! The cleanliness and organization continue to stand out, along with the teachers and principals kindness and love to not only our son but the other children there. They use an app called Links2Home and we get 4-6 pictures on average of our son throughout the day. Communication through the app with the teachers and principals have been quick and responsive to our requests. Recently we had asked them to switch the order in which he eats, bottles first then solids and they adapted within the next feeding time for our son. This past Friday they had a petting zoo and give us monthly finger paintings our son has done. It's difficult to allow someone else to watch your only child but I will say I have seen him blossom and become so social with others as well as seeing his natural joy be nourished with the same love that my partner and I give. Highly recommend anyone seeking for their children to tour multiple prospective child care facilities. Summer of 2022, we toured 5 and Chesterbrook Academy was the clear choice for our family, for multiple reasons. At the time, our 2.5 and 3.5 year old daughters had a surprisingly natural connection to the staff and facility we didn't experience with the others. My husband and I were pleasantly impressed throughout the tour. The facility is bright and clean, odor free, clutter free, very organized, beautifully decorated and colorful. Our family of 4 were greeted by Principal Jenn, who is calm, warm and welcoming. Each room has a description of staff and their work history. Many have been there for many years including Principal Jenn and Vice Principal Sherri, both whom are highly favored, very attentive to, and sought after by many of the children including our own. In the beginning, our youngest had a very hard time adjusting to leaving mommy and morning transitions were tough for months! Her teachers were so patient and comforting for those months long mornings and we are so grateful and appreciative of their unwavering support of our child. We have an app to check our child's day to day activities, photos, curriculum, and receive daily progress reports. There's also a messaging feature with quick responses to teachers and principals. Our first full year was a great success! There's many activities and monthly events to make for fun and enjoyable experiences. Our children also have dance lessons and soccer lessons incorporated within the school day. We have begun our second year here and our girls are off to a great start! Although the commute time is a bit longer than preferred, commuter routes couldn't be more convenient for this location.... Can't change traffic. Overall, it's been a great investment and experience for our family to see our children thrive. I rarely post reviews! However, this is a wonderful child care center. My son has been going since he was 3 1/2 months old. I've had peace of mind since the minute we toured. Jenn and Sherri the school administration team help provide peace of mind while I'm at work. The teachers love these kids like they are their own. They help encourage and nurture the growth and development of our little guy. I love how much they communicate and how I get pictures through the day. I would highly recommend this school! read more

From August 2015 to July 2020- My son attended Chesterbrook Academy- Fairfax (Roger Stover Drive location) with minimal problems. My husband and I liked the curriculum, lunch menu, location, hours of operation, employees, staff, and teachers- even though the turnover rate is high. This school has had three principals since we started in 2015, and several of the teachers that interacted with my son, throughout the years, are no longer there... August 6, 2020- My son accused one of his teachers in his PreK2 Summer Camp class of scratching a deep, bloody gash in the middle of his back while he was at school. I immediately emailed the school's principal. The teacher denied it. Since it occurred on July 13, 2020, and he did not tell us the truth when the incident first occurred, there was no proof of it on the class's surveillance cameras. The cameras "reloop" every 7 days. My motherly instincts knew something was wrong with my son. Since July 13, 2020, there have been several red flags implying that this same teacher has been bullying my five-year-old son over the course of the entire summer. When I use to see her, she was constantly smiling and joking with my son, now I know that was a façade. I use to tell my husband that this teacher would never look me in my eyes when I talked to her. Behind her "bubbly smile" is EVIL... WATCH OUT FOR HER!! From July 13- August 6- My son started crying about not wanting to go to school. It had only been opened for a few weeks. His behavior was VERY odd because he LOVES school! He used to beg to go back to school when it was closed due to COVID-19. He told us several times that he missed all of his friends and his teachers. We knew something was wrong because my son also started wetting his pants for three weeks straight (only Monday through Friday). Out of the blue, he wanted to sleep in bed with my husband and me, instead of in his room. We would often hear him cry in his sleep. Since my son has been withdrawn from this school, he has become more comfortable telling us about this specific PreK2 teacher's behavior. She use to make fun of the contents in his lunch-even telling him to throw away his lunch without eating it (as he confessed to doing that day). She constantly teased him by calling him names other than his legal name (that caused him to cry at home). He also accused her of balling up her fist and hitting him (that left huge knots on the side of his head). My husband and I wondered why our son came home twice with HUGE KNOTS on the side of his head. When we asked him about them, he just stood like a deer in headlights. She left the deep scratch on his back that took three weeks to heal and will take at least two years to disappear from his skin. I get upset every night when I bathe him and see the curved outline (of her fingernail), that once was bloody, on his back. On August 7, 2020- After seeing the scar on my son's back, his pediatrician contacted the school and the regional director, Child Protective Services, AND a Behavioral Therapist to counsel my son. That same day, I made a police report based upon her recommendation. I also contacted the school's regional director in Pennsylvania. I requested that she personally meet and talk to my son at a neutral location- when she came to the school to interrogate the staff and teachers about the incident. She declined my request. The case was just closed by the police, CPS, and the regional director due to "Insufficient Evidence". Since August 10, 2020, my five-year-old son has had sessions with his behavioral therapist to help heal him from any trauma that he may have experienced from this teacher while being at Chesterbrook during the Summer. We tried to keep all of the children safe from her, but she is still working at Chesterbrook Academy Fairfax (Roger Stover Drive location). read more

Our kids attended summer camp at this location and it was not the what was advertised. The camp was advertised for older kids and STEM focused . However, the curriculum was very elementary and not a real summer camp. The kids were bundled up with younger pre-kindergarten kids. We also made a complaint to the principal about another issue that the kids experienced and it was NOT taken seriously and brushed off. They also had about 25-27 kids at a time in a small class with one teacher. I would not recommend this daycare or their summer camp. read more

Came here during their Open House on August 1st. My husband and I were excited to see what this academy has to offer. Location - nicely located in Fair Lakes Circle, in front of Dicks Sporting Goods. Principal and Teachers - warm and inviting, nice and friendly, watched my little baby while the person was explaining what the academy offered. Both my husband and I felt comfortable that our baby will be in good hands. What won us over? - they take in babies as young as 6-8weeks? - Level 1 costs about $380 a week - interaction with the little ones What's a bummer? - the waitlist. read more

My family has been a part of Chesterbook Academy for the past 4.5 years. My daughter started when she was 6 months old and is now in their Pre-K program. My two sons are also attending Chesterbrook part time. I can't say enough about how positive our experience has been with Chesterbrook. To highlight: 1.) They have a wonderful curriculum: During the school year they are always stimulating the children with creative activities, arts and crafts or learning themes. Each week my children come home with a folder full of arts and crafts as well as learning themes. 2.) They are open year round! During the summer months they have summer camp. Each week they have planned activities that engage the children and keep them active. My favorite activity in the summer is the children's "Splash Day". They set up sprinklers, kiddie pools and tons of water activities for the children to play outside. 3.) They have great hours: 6:30 am - 6 :30 pm and they allow for part time enrollment. 4.) All of the teachers are warm and inviting and know my children's names. They greet them every morning when we come in. 5.) First time moms fear not! Mrs. Dega, in the baby room, is absolutely amazing! I trust her completely with my infants and know that they will be well cared for. 6.) They are enrolled in tadpoles, an electronic program that allows you to get a daily summary of your children's day at school. They are also wonderful about sending you pictures throughout the day. 7.) Two meals (breakfast, lunch) and two snacks are included in the tuition. I could go on and on about how positive our experience has been at Chesterbrook. The only negative that I will say is that there can be a lot of turnover from the assistants in each classroom.The main teachers, however, have been static. read more

I took my kid to here for 6 months before I decided to take her out from this daycare. I feel really bad for keeping my child here for that long. I decided to take her to this daycare because the reviews were good and it's close to my work. My 3 year old was in intermediate class. First week, she cried a lot. I thought she was having a separate anxiety because she's new to school. As couple weeks passed by, my child wasn't getting any better. She hated going to this daycare. She told me several times that she doesn't want to go to the daycare. I was going to wait for a month and decide if I was going to keep her here or not. Then, she got better after a month so I decided to keep her here. However that didn't last long. She was crying almost every morning again. She was crying so badly. I wanted to look for a new daycare but my situation didn't allow me at that time. I felt really bad and I should've look for another one right away. I thought the lead teacher wasn't friendly at all. I just thought that was her personality. One day, my child told me her teacher pushed and pinched her. I asked her several times and her answers were same. I decided to take her out from this daycare. She mentioned other teachers names and told me she liked them but it was just this one teacher she didn't like. There was a moments my child would look terrified when she saw this teacher. Now that my child goes to different daycare for 2 weeks, she's happy. She cried on first day but she didn't cry since then. She's been telling me how much she likes the teachers at the new daycare. She still mentioned few teachers she liked at Chesterbrook but she also mentions how this one lead teacher in intermediate class pushed her. Listen to your child when they seek for your help. I didn't know better which makes me feel really bad. I just thought my child just didn't want to go anywhere and be with me. Kids at this age don't lie and they try to explain and show you how they feel. read more

This daycare has taken a real turn since we've sent our child here. While the teachers have always been great, they never stay more than a few months, which is detrimental to the kids. Several principals have left or been fired in the last 2 years. There is very little consistency and corporate is non-responsive to issues like air conditioning and bugs in the classrooms. On top of that, It's a money pit that charges A LOT for daycare and yet NLC (the parent company of Chesterbrook Academies) doesn't compensate the teachers fairly. It's a real shame, because at this age these children need adults in their life who are role models, and yet this all they get is disappointment. read more

We have sent our daughter to this school for 2 1/2 years. While most of the teachers are wonderful poor management has led to a very high teacher turnover . My daughter has experienced four new lead teachers in just the past 9 months. The building maintenance is also poor. The pre-K 2 classroom has not had working AC for the last month with the outside temperature ranging from 80-90 degrees. Management does not appear concerned about correcting this. In addition to no air conditioning my daughter often comes home informing me of ants in the classroom and ticks on the playground. We will not be sending our younger daughter to this school. I do not normally write reviews, however, I hope that a bad review may help influence corporate to share some of the tuition they receive with their teachers and maintaining their building. read more

We have been with Chesterbrook for a little more than 3.5 years and its being a family, a 'home when away from home'. My child has been graduated to all the rooms except infants room as he started from the toddler's room. All the teachers and the Principal has always been wonderful with great gestures, they great the child and parent daily. They have always given us the comfort to talk/discuss about my child when he wasn't eating well or not napping etc. as well as have extended their support when I was training him to eat solids or use potty etc. They are also open to feedback from parents. We moved to a new location a month ago, and me and my husband had a tough time to find a good day care for my child as we had Chesterbrook standards to compare with. Also my child wasn't ready to move out at all and as parents it was one of the difficult situation to handle. This place as well as teachers & Principal will definitely be missed.
