My daughter has a wonderful time every time every time she goes there for drop in care (a benefit I receive through my employer). Everyone is lovely and remembers my daughter by name even though she is only there 1-2 times a month. Ms. Seemab is especially lovely and always provides such nice feedback about what my daughter learned throughout the day and how she did. We signed up our son after a friend did, hoping this would be a good experience as it was very affordable and they provide lunch. Shortly after we were warned by someone we met that it's not a good school, they were right. There are many families on grants and financial support (lower income),which we did not mind, though there is no system in place and the preschool lacks leadership and clear guidance from the director and corporate. Teachers don't seem to know when asked questions and do not make any decisions. Often, staff members were on their cell when I came to pickup. It is not Regio or Montessori teaching approach, and from what I've seen the teachers cut and glue the art projects, the children learn by repeating and being indoctrinated with information instead of exploring hands-on and being asked open-ended questions. We were not updated when there were issues that rose, and only found out after the fact that things were handled poorly and without any consent from the parents. This is our third child and I work in education, if you value your child's education and want them to thrive in a supportive, welcoming and communal environment, there are better options out there. read more

Thoughts on Chesterbrook: Ms. Celeste, When we took the tour for our son , the first thing we noticed was Ms. Celeste and how engaged she was with the students in Room 2. We were excited to see her in action and knew that we would be choosing the right daycare. Each morning when we would drop off our son, we would hear music playing and see her sitting the table prepping for the day. Every morning you can expect her to have scissors or papers or something that she is working on. She just exudes passion for her work and it doesn't go unnoticed. She always greets us with a warm smile and makes your child feel safe and comfortable. She also that has "sixth sense" and can really tease out your child's personality which we really came out when our daughter later joined who has very different personality than our son. Mr. Rob When our son was assigned to Mr. Rob we had no clue what to expect because we were just not familiar with male preschool teachers. Mr. Rob has been phenomenal and was a perfect fit for both our son and daughter. Mr. Rob also has that "sixth sense" when it comes to children. It is something that cannot be taught and you cannot train someone for it. He really understands preschool children and their learning needs. He is creative and understands imaginative play. He has had a profound impact on their early childhood learning experiences. To be honest, with the prices of childcare increasing and the demand on families the decision to stay with Chesterbrook was EASY because of Mr. Rob and Ms. Celeste. We knew our family would be in great hands and we are grateful for our time. I will also give a shout out to Ms. Shaka. When we enrolled our two year old, we were a little skeptical about how our toddler will be treated/handled. There was that "but if" factor. However, I'm glad to say that everyone exceeded our expectations. From Ms. Anne to Ms. Ashley, and of course Principle Kimberly. Our son was well taken care of. He loves going there and enjoys all the activities planned by teachers. His first week was tough, especially when I saw him crying, but Ms. Marta, Ms. Ashely and other teachers helped both myself and our son to feel comfortable. We took my eldest (who's 8 now) there four years ago, and now my 3-year old twins go. Many of the staff is the same, which is an indication that they treat the employees well, which is so important. They genuinely care about my children's well-being, are always open and honest about their progress, and have excellent communication with parents. The staff for the two year olds yell so much. I have never heard so much yelling in my life. It would seem that with young two year olds they would speak in a more motherly and loving tone but they do not. I am concerned and actively looking for another placement for my little one. The school is clean and they do a lot of activities but my child is not used to such raised voices and tones. I know that the teachers have to be stern but they need to find other ways to speak to the children that is not so aggessive in nature. Once they start that yelling it sparks cries like a domino affect. Something really needs to be done. I am sure I am not the only parent that is concerned about this. I've seen other parents visit the Principal but as she is right there it shoudl not be too difficult for her to observe and intercede. read more

Its amazing what a great school filled with strong role models can do for a child. Our preschooler entered Chesterbrook a year ago and the growth is amazing. Each day, we follow his activities on a Tadpole app which shows us pictures and details of what he learned and ate that day. Its fun to ask him about specific activities and to show him pictures of when he did them. His knowledge of numbers, letters, reading, and the world as a whole has grown exponentially all while he makes friends, and learns to help clean up and listen better. The principal is definitely 5 stars at this school. She seems to know every child's name and offers lots of fun extra activities if you want to go beyond a regular school day. There also numerous themed days where the kids dress up in fun ways and sometimes even include the parents coming in to enjoy special days with their children. Although we arent at the age yet, older kids from nearby elementary schools can be bussed there for after school activities until their parents are able to pick them up. Unlike many schools and daycares, this place seems to always be open, even when snow is piling up. The best part of Chesterbrook is how much our son looks forward to going there! read more

If you're looking for an affordable and safe environment for your child - Chesterbrook in Germantown is the place. Parenting can be a roller coaster with twists and turns with regard to work and personal schedules, illnesses, allergies, and all kinds of unexpected special needs for your child. Chesterbrook is incredibly accommodating and supportive of every turn. I appreciate their open door policy with regard to questions or concerns. Continuous improvement seems to be a large focus as well. I also love the diverse and friendly neighborhood-feel of Chesterbrook. Every child can see themselves represented in the staff. My child's peers include all races, ethnicities, and cultures. I would recommend Chesterbrook to any family. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been meaning to post the review but never got around to it. Both my kids attended Chesterbrook since they were 2 1/2 yrs old. We loved Chesterbrook. The teachers were warm, welcoming and caring. I cannot say enough nice things about all the teachers who helped mold my children - Ms.Doris, Ms.Katie, Ms.Debbie and Ms.Julie when they were 2, Ms.Celeste, Ms.Amber and Ms.Tosha when they were 3, Ms.Katie again at 3 1/2, Ms.Tonya, Ms.Julissa and Ms.Devon when they were 4 and now Ms. Tonya, Ms.Julissa and Ms.Krista this year when they are 5 (repeated Pre-K here due to missing the cutoff). Ms.Tonya, Ms.Devon and Ms.Julissa were very instrumental in helping my child who was behind her peers learn to write, and also cut with scissors and helped her socio-emotionally. She used to be the last one at her table last year but she gained so much confidence repeating Ms.Tonya's class this year. Ms.Tonya was so proud of her and it showed how loving and caring she was with the children. I am surprised that someone would negatively write about Ms.Tonya who is a wonderful teacher. At the front desk, Ms.Ashley, Ms.Kellie and the principal Ms.Yasaman always have smiles and make the place feel like a second home (I knew my kids were in good hands). I should also mention Ms.Kim (the previous principal, not the teacher) and Ms.Rosa who were also very nice. It was always easy to talk with Ms.Yasaman (and previously Ms.Kim) if something came up unexpectedly and they were very accomodating - Ms.Yasaman was very helpful when we needed full day daycare in summer for only one week due to family emergency last year even though the start date was in Fall..and then there is the forgotten notice or my absent mindedness with checks. The only con is the building is old, but the pros are loving caring teachers, daily tadpole update, a good curriculum and diversity (International night was awesome with the various cultures). I will miss coming back to drop my daughter here next year and Ms.Ashley's and Ms.Tonya's warm greeting and smile in the morning. What a great location, I couldn't have asked for a better place. The principal is AMAZING and her attitude is always positive. The warm smiles and laughter I receive from this staff is wondedful!. My child has been going here for 2 years and his developmental growth is amazing. I want to thank the teachers that has been working with me and my child getting a better understanding of their little brains.. In a few short weeks, my little one would have attended this school for a full year. I can honestly say that our family couldn't be happier that we chose this school. The daily updates/photos and reports are comforting, especially when we get pictures during the day. Can you just imagine having a tough day and then bam, you see your little angel's face pop up on your phone, working on a beautiful art project or practicing their writing. It's a good feeling to know that Chesterbrook is providing a quality education for our child. In the earlier stages it seemed as if teachers retention was a bit high, but it has now remained constant for the past several months. In my opinion, it's one of the more affordable preschools around Germantown, especially since they offer a lunch and daily pictures through an app. The only thing that makes me only give a 4 star review is the building upkeep. Halls and classrooms are kept clean for the most part, but there are certain areas were rust can be seen inside the building. Not an exact comfortable situation/environment for a mom. When I asked about how old the building was, I was told that it used to be a school many years ago as well. Nothing is major, just more of an eye soar. Another thing is the bugs on the play ground,we were not particularly too happy to see our child come home with a handful of mosquito bites, but it's summer and not much can be done. Writing this review, I realize that it's fall now and therefore the bugs will be reduced very shortly. But I would suggest that bug spray, provided by the parents, be used when going to the playground. I would honestly give this preschool a 4.5 rating if i could. The teachers and principal have been nothing but awesome! Always there to answer any of our silly questions and even when a slight problem occurred they helped us address right away. I would absolutely recommend this school for your little one. Also they have several branches around, which is also nice, the costs may vary per branch. Hope this helps you in your choice.
