My kids have been going to George School summer camp for 4 years. They absolutely love it. Each…read moreweek is filled with adventure and fun with lots of themes and interesting events. They look forward to it all year long. The counselor to camper ratio is excellent. They talk about it all year long. They love the food and have been very accommodating at lunch time to my kids. One is gluten free and the other is gluten and dairy free. It's such a blessing not to have to make lunches during the summer. Overall for summer camps you get what you pay for and while George school is not cheap it outshines others in almost all categories. One area of notable improvement and the reason for my 3 star review relates to accommodating kids with gluten and dairy free snacks. So far this summer they haven't done that effectively and kids get left out or are not included / come home starving at the end of the day. This has the little kids feeling left out and down right hangry / full meltdown when we pick them up. As I mentioned you get what you pay for and for just about 9.5k for 8 weeks at camp for two kiddos we would expect this to be something that could be handled. We would expect to have to make lunches for camp / send them with snacks etc for other camps costing 2-3k for entire summer of 10 weeks but not at George School. I look forward to this being corrected and being able to update my review to 5 stars!

If you could imagine the quintessential day camp, this would be it. Everything that is fun under the sun, and great for rainy days too. Great lunch program, with lots of choices for picky eaters. Excellent swim program. Last year, our granddaughter tried out an overnight camp, but missed Briarwood, so she's back again this year and happy about it. One very cool thing is that since the inception of this camp, each bunk makes their own plaque every summer with their bunk name and year which are then hung up. It was amazing to our granddaughter to see her mother's and her aunt's plaques from when they were campers decades ago.

This is a group of people that truly care about helping their campers (and staff!) create memories that last a lifetime. The property is beautiful and includes anything and everything that kids of all ages will enjoy. They have multiple swimming pools, a rock climbing wall, all sorts of sports, gymnastics, boating, fishing, art, ceramics, minigolf...I'm sure I'm forgetting something because the activities seem endless. It has the feel of a "real" camp of days past, where there are no screens...just new friends, camp songs, bunk shows, and dance-offs. For me, the best part of Briarwood is that my kids come home LITERALLY arguing over who will tell me about their day first. They talk all through dinner about all the exciting things they did at camp. Prior to Briarwood, my kids spent their summers at different weekly camps, but the stress of managing that logistics became too much to handle. Briarwood offers transportation and they give the kids lunch, snacks, and plenty of water, which makes MY summer so much easier. One of the most impressive things is the tenure of the Briarwood staff. The counselors of each "bunk" call parents before the start of camp to introduce themselves and to learn about the kids. Some of the counselors I've talked to have been there for 20+ years, starting as campers themselves!! My oldest child has already talked about how he can't wait to eventually be a CIT (counselor in training) and how he hopes he will be able to be a counselor one day. Bottom line, the owners, Matt and Mike have built an incredible camp and I tell them every year that I'm so grateful that they create this experience for my kids. Knowing that my kids are out of the house being active, well cared fore, and making friends (and memories!) is priceless. My only complaint is I wish I could go too!!!!!

The Director likes to say the camp is one of the only places kids today can get the experiences we had growing up, being able to just go out and play with your friends in a safe, but not stifling environment (I'm sure I'm paraphrasing how he puts it, but that's the message I've always gotten). I think that's a fair assessment of it. Also, the other thing I love about the place is that my two kids have very divergent interests, but there is so much to do there that there are many activities that speak to both of them. In short, it is definitely a place we recommend, and will be continuing to use going forward.

This fact alone, played a huge factor when selecting summer camp for my son this year. A camp that has successfully opened its doors every summer for the last almost half century must be good. And oh it is good. Very good! The grounds are beautiful. When you visit, you forget that you are close to home. It feels as though you drove a couple of hours into Poconos. Lush green lawns, many old trees, even a lake! The camp grounds are set up such as there is a little town, with little wooden arrow signs pointing in all directions. They have a large heated pool designed for both early swimmers as well as more mature ones. They have full tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer field and baseball field among others. They have a rock climbing wall and a zip-line that goes across the lake! A horse track with two horses. Probably so much more that I am forgetting as well. Each child gets a schedule packed full of activities. In fact, activities change every 45 minutes and transition is seamless. When visiting on parent day I was so impressed by organization of the place. Everything is timed and perfectly in tune with no glitches. I guess they have done it plenty enough in the last 43 years. We love the fact that our son gets swimming lessons once a day with an instructor as well as a free swim in the afternoon. We event received a progress report on his swimming progress, it was really nice to know where he stands. In addition to all the activities, there are constantly events going on as well. They had a show, where each bunk presented on stage in front of others. Color games, carnival week with carnival rides, a late night special, where kids stay later into the night. The excitement with which my son comes home is priceless. Every day he tells me about trying new activities such as cooking or new games that he has not tried before. Also, I love the fact that he was able to make friends very quickly. His Counselor Michelle is beyond nice and accommodating. She also happens to be his transportation. The pick-up and drop off at home is super convenient but next year we might even try extended hours, which are actually very affordable. Overall, I could not be happier with the camp. When we requested information, we actually received a DVD that had a long movie about day to day activities at the camp. It was very helpful. Jacque and Rick, the owners of the camp are very easy to get in touch with and always extremely helpful over the phone and email. In fact Jacque went out of her way to get me the information on registration only a day before the deadline and still gave me the discount. We love this camp and cannot wait to have our daughter there next year as well. We would highly recommend it to anyone!

At the camp show, one of the camp directors kept INSISTING you cannot record your own child! Multiple times she got up to chastise people who did nothing more than try to film their own child in the show! They sell a DVD of the show they are forcing you to buy if you want a video. Well, who has a DVD player these days? And this time around our child was so excited to be in the show and told family members all about it and since they could not attend were very disappointed not to be able to see a cell phone video of it. We did not order the DVD since we have no DVD player but we heard they took 7 months to send them out! So to recap, they ban you from filming your own child (imagine that!) so you have to buy their overpriced DVD which took them 7 months to send out! And this horrible woman who lacks basic social skills scolds parents during the show like they are kindergarteners! I recommend finding a camp who would not nickel and dime their camp families like this and treats their families with respect. We enrolled at another camp and told the new director this situation and he just chuckled and said, 'you are always welcome to take videos of your child here.'

However; if you are interested in hosting an event here, I think it would be fine if you brought a lot of outside decorations. The canopies they use to shade the picnic benches could use an upgrade since they are in an array of bright but now faded colors. Most of their games and equipment are a bit shabby, though I can't really blame them, since these things are typically used by kids and get a lot of usage over the summer. For the price of ten dollars on summer weekends you get full access to the camp, which includes a pool area, paddle boats, mini golf, and even a rock climbing wall. They also have fishing rods if you'd like to try catching something in their lake. I must say that at the least their pool is very clean and well maintained, even if it's overrun with lots of people. For the price it's really quite a good deal, and on a nice day it would probably be a great place to take rambunctious children. There's stuff for both adults and kids, which is always a great thing. I think with some needed upgrades this place could be a true five star venue. Until then, it's a nice place for a boring summer day, just don't have insanely high hopes that it will be action packed.

She loves the ability to test and grow her skills: from crawling to now running, climbing,rolling, tumbling, etc. She also loves the interactive sections, especially the puppet show at the end! If I had neuro-typical child, this school would be my first choice because their teaching method is truly the best at developing young minds. I need to note that my son attended this school with a highly trained aid. There are 18 kids in a classroom with 3 teachers. It is unfair and unrealistic to expect extra time be given to any one student on a daily basis. My son's participation worked at this school because his aid ensured that he was not a constant disruption to the classroom. The teachers were incredibly supportive of my son and his aid; he eventually worked seamlessly into the classroom with minimal assistance from his aid. Overall, this is a fantastic school. If your child has special needs, this school can be fantastic....but they cannot be expected to "treat" a child beyond that which a normal, non special education teacher, would do. However, they were very willing to work with my son and his aid, to the extent that it did not interfere with the other children. I found their approach very reasonable. Fun Side Note: The teachers were so happy with my son's aid that they sent her flowers at the end of the school year. She was really touched (as was I).

Wrightstown friends nursery school is such a little gem of a school. The kids and parents are like…read morea little family. Before becoming a parent I saw the insides of many preschool classrooms working with early intervention. I've never seen a school with this atmosphere and kids really do learn how to be a friend. The yellow box is an amazing concept. It changes every week for imaginative play. It could be a boat , a store, a cave... so many fun things that get the kids learning and playing together. Not many schools use the materials they use for learning. They have a work bench where the children can hammer and saw. The playground has a big sandbox, lots of swings, natural climbing surfaces and more fun things to do. Its nice to be able to stay and play afterward. You get to know the classmates and family of the class. I can't recommend it enough.
