Today we visited Chesterfield Berry Farm's pumpkin patch and made the best of our time there. General Fun Pass tickets are $24.99, and the Ultimate Fun Pass is $29.00 per person. Admission is definitely on the expensive side--especially if you go on a Thursday like we did--since about 85% of the activities older kids want to enjoy weren't operating. The food stations were closed. (We scored a great rate on Groupon for tickets) We did get to enjoy the beautiful pumpkin patch and sunflower field, but my oldest was disappointed that the bounce house and corn cannon weren't available. Overall, it was a lovely first-time experience for my mom and youngest child, but my oldest and I left feeling a bit let down. read more

It feels like strawberry picking season came really early this year! I went to Chesterfield Berry Farm with my friends for Earth day. The farm is huge! Don't be fooled by your GPS, you will drive an additional 3-5 minutes to get to the strawberry picking portion. We timed it so we would arrive right when it opened. It was easy to find a place to park. They give you cute red buckets to put your strawberries in (you get to keep the bucket). We spent about 30 minutes picking strawberries. The berries they have here are HUGE! There were also a lot to choose from when we went. You are charged by how heavy your basket is. I'd highly recommend checking this farm out. I've been searching for outdoor things to do with my very active 2.5 year old. We hit the jackpot with this place. It is so beautiful and there's so much to do. You get picked up on a tractor like vehicle and it takes you like 5 minutes away to the sunflower fields which is just beautiful. You get a free sunflower with the purchase of one adult ticket and kids get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket as well. There are several photo props throughout the field and a giant play area for kids that's located back at the main entrance. We got there within an hour of closing so we got free delicious sweet corn to take home. read more

Coming from Mechanicsville, it was literally an hour drive for us one way, so we had to plan this trip so we all had the time to come. I stalked the social media pages to make sure there wasn't an unexpected closure due to weather or a shortage of strawberries. We got there right at opening and there was a special today for buy one bucket of pick your own strawberries, get one free. We were super excited that we came when there was such a good deal. All four of us got a bucket and went to picking. Without even getting into the fields, there were huge, ripe strawberries everywhere! If course, we had to taste a few on the way and oh my God they were the best I've ever tasted! They are so juicy! When we were there at 9, there was maybe one other car there, so it wasn't busy at all. I will say, it is of the beaten path quite a bit so at first it almost was eerie getting into the farm since we hadn't been there before. The added commentary referencing multiple horror movies didn't help the ambiance, especially after seeing some of the Halloween decor XD once we parked, everything was a breeze. They have us flyers for an upcoming festival at checkout which looks super fun. We will definitely make this a yearly thing now, if we don't end up coming back this year!!!!! read more

The line was long to get in and moved slow. I personally think they charged to much for what you get and what they have, place looks terrible/trashy. Definitely needs better things to do and more seating through the place and some baby changing stations for all the kids in diapers. We decided to get a late lunch and the line was so slow, I'm sure from the young lady using a calculator to add tax and figure out how much change to give back, maybe two registers would've helped. The food was actually not bad, coleslaw could use some help though. Beans and bbq I thought were really good. Seating under the canopy was bad with allllll the flies and wasps. Couldn't enjoy our food because of that, worried my grandchild was gonna get stung. Maybe use some fans to help keep them away or traps. We didn't get any pumpkins or sunflowers but did go to get some pics in pumpkin field and looked picked through. In closing they need more or better activities for what they charged to get in and more seating and baby stations. Not sure if we will go back next year. read more

Fun times pumpkin picking. Great day out with the family. There was no cost of admission. You pay for what you want to do. If you want to get to the pumpkin patch you have to buy a hay ride down. There are a few activities for kids. Play area cost money to get into. There are animals to look at for free. There is a concession stand to get a bite to eat. Minor things I wasn't keen on. The bathrooms are port a potties. It is a farm. It was a little dirty which is expected. But there is garbage laying around that was a little gross. Most of the people that work there seemed like they didn't want to be there. read more

This is a great place for adults and kids. In the spring and summer, you can pick your own berries and in the falls, your own pumpkin. They also have trees for Christmas. As you can see from the photo of my nieces and nephew, the tough part is not eating all of your hard work before you get home! The farmers market sells whatever is in season, so some days you may find beans or tomatoes and some days squash. They have a "deal of the week" on one item. And, they have tons of plants so if you garden it's a worthwhile trip. If you truly want to eat "farm to table", this is a great destination. read more

This is by far my favorite farm to visit on a kindergarten pumpkin trip. The scenery and expansiveness alone are worth the price.

Great place to visit with your kids spring through fall. Pick your own strawberries and blackberries in spring and summer, then come back in October for the pumpkin patch and other fall activities which include corn maze and more. They also arrange field trips for school groups. Check out the market for in season produce, plants, homemade canned items, and fresh local beef. read more

While this may be fun in the spring and summer, I would only recommend it for young children who may enjoy the attractions (face painting, hay ride, pony ride, pig race, farm animals). For me, it was hard to get past the $11.95 admission fee. I heard other people complaining, too. There are plenty of places to get pumpkins in October. They could at least give you a discount at the nearby market after paying their admission for the day. read more

Hands-down 5 stars for the plants, flowers, and herbs. 2 stars for the produce. Hence, 4 stars overall. I went in search of locally-grown produce at the end of Memorial Day Weekend. While the market sells plenty of produce, right now the only stuff grown on the farm is beans and strawberries. I was a little disappointed by that. And I don't think they're organic or sustainable... They have plenty of tomatoes, corn, and other summer veggies, and as my bf pointed out - at least if you buy your veggies there you're supporting a local farm business rather than the local Food Liar or Kroger. Now, for my favorite part - that part that has me driving to the boonies and beyond while internally grumbling "i can't believe they're so far from downtown." This place has the best deal on plants. Hands down. Seriously -where else can you score 12 4-packs of assorted veggie, herb, and flowering plants for $14? Including heirloom tomatoes? That's 48 plants for $14 bucks. Yeah, they're tiny. But you put them in the ground, water them, and they grow. This place makes it affordable to start a garden. And I love them for that. read more

I really love coming here in the fall with my daughter for their hayrides, pumpkin patches, and other fun activities like corn maze, bounce house, train rides, haunted house, etc. It's become a tradition every October. They used to charge for admittance, but now it's free and you can upgrade to the $10 fun pack if you want to do additional activities, aside from the entertainment and animal exhibits. The staff is always very friendly and it's probably one of the best selections for pumpkins (as well as for strawberry picking in the spring) in the area. read more

I visit the market every spring because of their selection of plants. They are the only place I have found "starter perennials." Things like lambs ear, yarrow, bachelor buttons, which you generally only find in a quart or gallon size at a greenhouse. The website makes the farm seem great and if they had been open we probably would have loved it. After driving an hour they had a sign on the gate saying they were closed. We checked the website and called ahead but nothing indicated we shouldn't go. I feel like if they are going to close during normal business hours they should give notice to customers. read more

Admission fee of $5.00 per person means we would have to pay $25.00 just to walk in. Ridiculous. There are plenty of other places that are more reasonable. I cannot justify the hefty added cost. We will no longer come here. read more

my family of 3 (including my husband and our 15month old) went to a birthday party here today. it was a fun way to spend a warm fall afternoon(even though we wish that it had been at least 15 degrees cooler, it's always more fun picking pumpkins while wearing layers:). there was a puppet show, pony rides (which we were spectators of), hay rides, toddler play area w/ sandbox and bigwheels(the hilight of our daylol) and loads of farm animals. our little guy had a ball! the covered picnic table areas were great for our party of 15ish, perfect for brining your own picnic and or cupcakes etc. we will definitely be back next year! read more

We have been there every year for the last 5 years to pick pumpkins. We always get the hayride for a few dollars pick our pumpkins, pay and leave. If you wanted to do all the other activities you would pay extra. This year you HAD to buy the $12 pass per person, then pay for your pumpkins, even if all you want to do is do the hayride and get pumpkins. Oh and they couldn't process cards at the admission gate, cash only. What a RIP OFF. We have been going for five years to do this and pick strawberries. NEVER AGAIN. Lost our business permanently. Went elsewhere and had plenty of fun, and for LESS than the price of their admission and got to go through a corn maze, ride the hay ride, and pick and pay for our pumpkins. read more
