One that I want to highlight and isn't on Yelp by itself unfortunately is Sweet Jane's Kitchen Maryland Style Crab Cakes. They don't have a brick and mortar but she is always there every Saturday the Market is open from 9am-1pm. Since moving from FL I have never had a single good crab cake in all of VA...UNTIL I tried Jane's crab cakes. They are all of what a good crab cake has to offer: A large thick patty mostly consisting of super fresh crab and garnished with delicious spices and only small amount of filler. Their homemade sauce is perfectly zesty and pairs well with the crab cake and bun; I always get extra. To top it off the owner is always very kind and runs it with her family. Other than this one there is a flower shop that carries my favorite celosia flowers and my favorite caromont farm goat cheese. They have a wonderful variety of other unique shops and delicious food vendors to try. I highly recommend Jane's crabcakes and the Charlottesville City Market in general, so much that I am willing to travel almost 2 hours to get there. Honestly the best green market I've been to in VA.

This is about as good as it's going to get for a small-town farmer's market…read more I love that my hometown is doing this. I love that it's still in that somewhat awkward beginning stage of "how does this work?" (or maybe, that's just me...). I love that the vendors are quick to point you to another vendor if they're out of something or aren't carrying something that day. Easy to find, super cheap prices. The big drawback is that you can't get eggs or any meat products... yet. Excited to see how this market grows in the future!

They have a wide range of local produce, eggs, honey, coffee (roasted locally, not grown), and lots of assorted craft items. I typically go for the eggs and produce. On this occasion, I bought some coffee from a vendor which was amazing and only $7 as compared to some local coffed I bought in RVA for $12. I also bought some veggies, eggs from one of the few vendors that sell them, and hoop cheese. This is a great little farmer's market. The only down side is that there are some weekends that vendors are scant. My favorite thing to get is eggs and there are times when there are no vendors with eggs. Even still, I never leave empty handed and never spend more than $20.

The market is an add on to an already amazing park with soccer fields, shady glens with large oak trees and rolling hills of grass. I wish I had more time to explore. The vendor booths are in shade and well spaced. It was a rather large market compared to NYC, northern VA, New England small towns and had that feel of one of those first musical festivals from the late 70's Everyone, small ones included was chill. Lots of amazing food w new approachs from sauces, proteins, sea food of course including oysters, soft shell and other Tidewater treasures. The vegetable vendors from small to large were well managed and lines moved quickly. The produce looked like a magazine spread. There was background music from two separate musicians which supported the mellow vibe. My faves were The Herbalist Garden where I picked up a blemish stick for those summer nicks and bites. Rosehip and Thyme See picture Yes, there are many more and this soothes and heals.Honey- why buy store bought when you get this straight from the beekeeper? Just awesome and fairly priced. Soap and bath salts two lovely entrepreneurs who had passion and knowledge for their products which were well displayed and well received as gifts to friends.
