I always loved to go to Charlottesville City Market when I lived in Charlottesville, and come back…read moreall the way from D.C. every once in a while specifically for a few businesses. One that I want to highlight and isn't on Yelp by itself unfortunately is Sweet Jane's Kitchen Maryland Style Crab Cakes. They don't have a brick and mortar but she is always there every Saturday the Market is open from 9am-1pm. Since moving from FL I have never had a single good crab cake in all of VA...UNTIL I tried Jane's crab cakes. They are all of what a good crab cake has to offer: A large thick patty mostly consisting of super fresh crab and garnished with delicious spices and only small amount of filler. Their homemade sauce is perfectly zesty and pairs well with the crab cake and bun; I always get extra. To top it off the owner is always very kind and runs it with her family. Other than this one there is a flower shop that carries my favorite celosia flowers and my favorite caromont farm goat cheese. They have a wonderful variety of other unique shops and delicious food vendors to try. I highly recommend Jane's crabcakes and the Charlottesville City Market in general, so much that I am willing to travel almost 2 hours to get there. Honestly the best green market I've been to in VA.

It's dog friendly so we recently brought our pup. Just be aware this is a busy market with lots of dogs in general, which did get overwhelming for her after a bit. One of my favorite weekend stops!

This is about as good as it's going to get for a small-town farmer's market…read more I love that my hometown is doing this. I love that it's still in that somewhat awkward beginning stage of "how does this work?" (or maybe, that's just me...). I love that the vendors are quick to point you to another vendor if they're out of something or aren't carrying something that day. Easy to find, super cheap prices. The big drawback is that you can't get eggs or any meat products... yet. Excited to see how this market grows in the future!

PG Farmers' Market has been one of my Saturday destinations for years. Although it is a small…read morefarmers' market it has a lot to offer and at prices that are way lower than any other in the area. They have a wide range of local produce, eggs, honey, coffee (roasted locally, not grown), and lots of assorted craft items. I typically go for the eggs and produce. On this occasion, I bought some coffee from a vendor which was amazing and only $7 as compared to some local coffed I bought in RVA for $12. I also bought some veggies, eggs from one of the few vendors that sell them, and hoop cheese. This is a great little farmer's market. The only down side is that there are some weekends that vendors are scant. My favorite thing to get is eggs and there are times when there are no vendors with eggs. Even still, I never leave empty handed and never spend more than $20.

Not only are the products good, there is a plethora of options, from coffee and ice cream to bread and biscuit to pierogi and ravioli to eggs and cheese; produce, flowers, knife sharpening, the list goes on... parking can get a little tricky sometimes but there are plenty of lots around so just keep circling you'll get a spot. I love coming to the farmers market after we get some breakfast around the corner and even if we just walk through and don't even buy anything. It's just so much fun to see people out there selling their goods and other folks just there to have a good time and shop!

My rating is as a result of encountering some of the leadership and organizers. This organization does NOT want to hear feedback or suggestions from those that support their vendors. As long as you make a purchase and shut up you are welcomed, otherwise you are blocked from their pages. Very petty and pathetic way to run/ruin a business! My only feedback was complimentary and then regarding hours of operation and cancelations with little to no notice to the customer. I was then blocked and shut out for commenting this feedback. Is that the way you treat and censor your customers? Mollie? That is not leadership! The only reason this Farmer's Market is mildly successful is because of your vendors. Hopefully they are being well treated and their concerns heard. Good riddance!
