Great place for breakfast. Variety of fresh food for breakfast and brunch. Great service and a lively atmosphere. No reservations so expect a wait but it's worth it. Quite the selection of specialty sides to choose from. Definitely recommend.

Chesterfield's Gastro Diner is a cute popular brunch spot located in the Wellington Village neighbourhood in the west end of Ottawa. The restaurant has a casual family diner look with a relaxed atmosphere.  The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so seating is on a first come first serve basis. I visited the restaurant on a Thursday afternoon and waited about 15 minutes to be seated, and would expect wait times to be much longer during weekend peak periods. The waitress who served my table was courteous and sociable. The service she provided overall was great. The timing of when we got seated, had our orders taken, and had our food served was just right.  I ordered the Steak Hash Leclair and a Chilled Sweet Tea during my visit and thought the presentation was beautiful. The steak hash was a little over seasoned in my opinion, and I found the beef a little tough but still enjoyed my meal. The brussel sprouts were especially delicious.

The service was incredible despite there being a wait for a table. I loved that they have a "living room" type of space for waiting patrons. We were given an approximate wait time of 20 min but we were seated at around 10 minutes. The food was delicious. The venue is really cute. I can see why its a favourite restaurant for so many and I'm looking forward to coming back.

Jerk benny with chipotle mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts

I finally made it out to Chesterfield's! I went by myself last week on a rainy fall Monday at 11:30am and there was no line. I was seated immediately at a table for four, the only one available. As I ordered and waited for my food, I felt bad with more folks coming in and me sitting by myself at a big table, so I offered my table up a couple of times, but one of the servers said they were mostly parties of two and they don't share tables, anyway, and to just enjoy myself :) I'm not often in this area and likely won't be back any time soon with a family who doesn't like waiting in line haha so I figured go big or go home. I ordered the jerk benny, upgraded my two sides to the chipotle mac and cheese and blueberry pancake, and got an extra side of Brussels sprouts (an extra $5). I also got a Chesterfield's Caesar because hey, treat yo'self. The jerk benny had chicken breast, cornbread, avocado, two poached eggs, mango salsa, and jerk Hollandaise sauce. You could order a half benny for $18 but I thought why not get the full for an extra $4. It was good, but I think the cornbread was actually my favourite part, super moist. I would've liked dark meat more and the jerk seasoning was heavy on the cloves, moreso on the chicken and not as pronounced in the sauce. I was worried the mango salsa would make it too sweet but there was only a little bit and wasn't overpowering at all. The eggs were poached to a perfect medium, as requested. This main wasn't as big or heavy as I thought it would be and I totally hoovered it down. The chipotle mac and cheese came in its own cast iron skillet, nice and hot. They use cavatappi instead of macaroni, which is great for that extra bite. I loved the toasted breadcrumbs on top and the mac and cheese was made well, cheesy, but I didn't realize I was craving just your standard mac and cheese instead of chipotle flavoured until I had a taste. Still good and glad I tried it, but I'd like to try something else next time. Maybe also a little too acidic combined with the jerk and Caesar. The Brussels sprouts were good, nice and roasted until charred like I like them. I'm not usually a sweets for breakfast kind of person, but dare I say I think the blueberry pancake was my favourite dish. It was a thicker pancake with crispy edges and a fluffy middle, with the centre and top filled with blueberries. The Caesar used house-made Caesar mix and had a double shot of vodka or tequila. I chose tequila on the recommendation of the server. It was garnished with a bacon strip, spicy bean, cheese curd, pepperoncini, and lime wedge. Boozy, spicy, came with snacks, can't go wrong. Food was tasty and presentation was very nice. Service was fast and friendly. I can see why this spot is so popular!

I would recommend that you come in early or have a few things to do. This place is popular and busy. We did not plan ahead and had a 1h and a half wait. You add your name on a list and they call you 10 minutes before. Now that this is said. The staff is super friendly and help you make decisions. I took the less exiting meal on the menu. 2 egg breakfast ($15) I took the buffalo cauliflower as my extra. I wish the portion of bean was bigger, I didn't have much to share. The cauliflower had a nice kick to it came with some sour cream. My partner got the bird nest benny ($20). That was the star of the show. He picked sausage as he extra . Then we got the Jamaican benny ($22) poach eggs on top of avocado, chicken and cornbread. For the extra 2 side we took Brussel sprouts And bacon. I really had a great breakfast and will need to be braver with my choices.

Foghorn Leghorn Benny with the Cheesy Potato Cake as Side

We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy. We waited about 40 minutes for a table, but it was so worth the wait! We both got eggs benny (foghorn leghorn benny which is with air fried chicken and challah loaf, and jerk chicken benny with corn bread), with different sides. There are a ton of the options for the sides which is pretty cool. Both eggs benny were delicious, and I loved how they changed up what they served it on depending on the benny. The pancake was denser than a regular pancake but the texture was surprisingly good and the blueberry flavour made it pop. I will definitely be back to try more!

Good ole Chesterfield's Gastro Diner, I was super excited to try this spot but it was pretty average for me. Another word of mouth recommendation, so I had high expectations. With eggs benedict being one of my favorite brunch spots and with many variations of this meal on the menu, I knew what I planned to ordered. I ordered the buffalo chicken eggs benny, something I've never had before and my mom ordered the blueberry pancakes. I was expecting a big chicken thigh or chicken breast fried with buffalo sauce oozying all over the english muffin, but I received the opposite. It seemed as though my food had been sitting out for a while because it was luke warm and the small piece of chicken had soaked up the buffalo sauce. It wasn't what I expected. However, my mom really enjoyed her pancakes! Like most (not all) spots in Ottawa, you aren't able to make reservations ahead of time. I placed our name on the list and we crashed at a local coffee shop until we received our phone call. I would try this spot again and just stick to something traditional!

Chesterfield's ranks amongst the top out of all the brunch restaurants we've tried. Everything we ordered was flavourful. Their menu is unlike your typical brunch menu. Their dishes take inspiration from different cuisines (they offer a Jamaican benny and an Israeli board). The Jamaican Benny was delicious. I enjoyed the sweet and savory combination from the fresh mango salsa. We also had the air fried chicken and waffle benny (off menu item). Chicken and waffle is already one of our favorite brunch items, but it's even better when you top it with a runny egg. We really like their concept of choosing the sides separately from the entrees. Each entree usually includes 1-2 sides. You can choose from an extensive list of regular and specialty sides (for a small extra). We chose three specialty sides (as they did seem really special): the chipotle mac n cheese, the rockefeller mushroom and the apple cinnamon french toast. The mac n cheese was strongly suggested by our waiter. It was tasty, but we were not blown away. My boyfriend really liked the mushroom rockefeller, but I thought they squeezed a bit too much lemon juice on it. Still pretty tasty! We ended the meal on a great note, the apple cinnamon french toast. It was super fluffy, not overwhelmingly sweet and a perfect portion to share. If you want to try out Chesterfield's, just know that they are quite popular and do not take reservations. We went there on a Thursday 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line starting to form. The restaurant is not that big and it quickly filled up within 15 minutes of opening. Our meal ended up costing 70$ (with a coffee and a fresh orange juice). Service was friendly and efficient. Follow for more food content on Insta : @lyliaxfood

Our waitress was so friendly and lively, food was delicious, and the vibes were fantastic. We went early on a Thursday morning and lined up at around 8:45. I was surprised to already see people there! The food was indulgent but not overly heavy, and while it's not the cheapest brunch, I feel like it was fairly priced.

It's amazing food, hipster environment, great staff! It is pricy, I felt bad once my friend bought my meal. Usually a long line but I'd say it's worth it. Unique food and experience! Brussel sprouts and the eggs Benedict are so delicious.. yum!

Unfortunately they don't take reservations here so it's first come first serve. As soon as we walked in it smelled delicious in the restaurant. The host promptly wrote down our info and notified us that we would be called when our table was ready. About 20-30 minutes later we were called in. The service was very friendly. We ordered the Berry mimosas which I found a tad tart but still good. We ordered the TLC Benedict which didn't come with an English muffin base but instead mashed potato. Wasn't really my cup of tea so likely won't order that again however the sides we got which were the baked beans, breakfast Sausages and breakfast poutine were delicious. They have a plethora of sides to choose from. Will definitely be back if I come back to visit Ottawa. Sidenote the wifi password is their phone number which is: 6136808990

Spice girl benny with mac and cheese and brussel sprouts!
    Ayshia B.

Went there for the first time last month and it was INCREDIBLE. Such a creative menu with very well-thought out dishes I have never seen anywhere else. Got the Spice Girls Benny which was an eggs Benedict on house-made cornbread with grilled pineapple, egg, hollandaise, and some sort of salsa. You get to chose two sides from their long list of amazing side options, I was very indecisive but my waiter was so incredibly nice and gave me excellent recommendations so ended up getting the brussel sprouts (I know it sounds weird but they were to die for) and the mac and cheese. Literally mind-blowing. There is usually a pretty big line to get in as they don't take reservations but they will call you when your table is ready and seem very organized so went by fairly quickly.

ttawa. And once you've tried it you will completely understand. The flavours are just unreal and the service is incredible. As this is a small spot it only holds a small amount of customers. Are wait time on a Friday was less than 20 minutes which was exactly the time the waitress said. We order the Chicken and Pancakes and the Birds Nest (Special) So my wife has had the chicken and pancake before and I understand why she had it again, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the pancake was a perfect compliment. I had the birds nest and WOW. The Flavours were just u explainable. Just so so so good. Honestly, if you live in Ottawa or are visiting, this is a must go to spot Food 5 Quality 5 Service 5 Atmosphere 5 Overall 5 Open for Dine-In and Takeout

This sandwich is literally the reason I downloaded this app…read more I've just spent the whole winter in Quebec and am now hitchhiking across Canada and decided to stay in Ottawa a few days. I booked 4 nights at the Saintlo jail hostel and when I came downstairs after a rejuvenating nap I saw that they had a list of recommendations sitting amongst a pile of other plastic sheets. Dirienzo's - the best ITALIAN SANDWICH in the city. I'm not really an Italian sandwich sort of person normally, maybe it was contributed by the burgeoning like for cured meats that I was acquiring after eating dried salami as my only source of food for the past week or so -- but who's going to pass up the chance to try the BEST of anything? I got there after taking 2 buses and was starting to become a bit concerned. I had $40 in my account and was hitchhiking across the country -- after all it was labelled the BEST in the city and that would normally come with a hefty price tag. When I first opened the door I instantly got greeted by the guy behind the counter, which made me feel welcomed and at ease. I looked up to view the selection of sandwiches that they had on offer and potentially the cheaper ones. I was surprised to see the sign that said $10 for ANY SANDWICH!! #booyah I was finding it hard to decide on which of the sandwiches to get since they all looked so appetising, but decided on number 16. The sandwich was massive for the price that it was. The bread was a perfect mix between durable so that it wouldn't fall apart in your hands, but soft enough that it was enjoyable, with the amount of bread contemplating he rest of the fillings just the right amount. I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest with how good it was. All of the ingredients including the lettuce (which I've found is usually the first thing places will skimp out on) were extremely fresh. I put in my coworker groupchat: "Anyone coming over across Canada after the season has to make a stop in Ottawa if they aren't already just to try one of these." Accompanied by a photo of my eyes watering with glee. My Nonna is always telling me how I need to learn Italian to be more connected to our culture and I've always just kindof brushed it off since I haven't needed to use it and we don't speak it much at home, but this has made me so proud to be Italian. As I continued to eat the sandwich sitting on a bench looking towards the city and the people playing basketball in the park, I found myself contemplating staying in Canada and raising my kids here in Ottawa so that they get to experience it themselves on a warm summer afternoon after picking them up from school. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options
