Bobby's table is wonderful- this mom and pop place has been a vanier staple for a really long time and there's a reason it's stuck around. This is a no fuss classic diner that does a really great smoked meat and the prices have stayed so reasonable! I think a classic eggs breakfast is like 8$. Looked up a good place everywhere for a good place for brunch and search was narrowed down to Bobby's Table. There is parking behind that is reserved for BT which we took advantage of. It was about 10:30ish on a Friday morning. We expected that it would be not busy, but we were wrong. All the tables packed and a few people ahead of us. We were seated in about 15 minutes or so. The coffee was good, not strong the way we like it, but was the right temperature. The kids had milk and they were LARGE glasses. We had a breakfast special (for $4 and for $5 with home fries), an Eggs Benedict on spinach with a latke, a Vegetarian Omelette, a Belle Vegetarian Club Sandwich, and a Breakfast Special with Home Fries. The latke was a bit over done, but the poached eggs and the Benedict sauce was good. A little more seasonings would have been better. The Vegetarian Omelette was stuffed with veggies. The size of the omelette was BIG. The toasts in all orders were perfectly done. The special with scrambled was good. The home fries in all the orders were amazing. Perfectly fried, seasoned with a bit of mixed herbs was out of this world. The Belle Vegetarian sandwich was good. The sandwich position was huge and generously piled. The avocado mentioned in menu was hardly tasted, it was present, but could not detect on the palate. A fresh thick slice or mashed would have made it. Also we were served by the owner Robert (Bobby) itself. He is funny, attentive and served us with a smile. Attention to detail and food was presented well as well. A must go to place for breakfast and brunch. The prices reasonable, nice portions, good quality and nice service. What more could one ask for? A breakfast special before 11 am for $4 bucks? Really solid breakfast! I came on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was pretty full and cozy. I love how the decor inside is homey and a bit eclectic; my table had a large wooden "love" art piece, and the chairs had cushions! What I tried: - Eggs benedict with smoked salmon: the smoked salmon was hearty and fresh, and there was enough hollandaise sauce, which I appreciated. The side of potatoes were delicious, as were the tiny pot of caramel apple! - Special of the day, chicken souvlaki platter: very authentic and fresh; however, some of the lettuce was a bit wilted, but flavour of the chicken was delicious and it was tender. This place is absolutely a hidden gem. Came across it online and was intrigued. Finally got there, immediately sceptical. Both my girlfriend and I looked at each-other with sheer confusion. Needless to say, I would eat there again eyes shut. Food was quick, fresh and hot is an understatement. Service was prompt and to the point. Pricing was average but worth it to say the least. I went to Bobby's Table for dinner with a group of four for dinner. Everything was going great, until just after we were seated. Two in our group ordered alcoholic drinks. The waitress aggressively and forcefully insisted a few times that everyone had to order a beverage. When the food we ordered, hot smoked meat sandwiches, arrived they were all still cold. The smoked meat was overly salty, greasy and loaded with fat. It wasn't appetizing at all. The waitress asked three times what we wanted for dessert, even though we all declined the first time. When the bill came our waitress told us, "Don't forget the gratuity". Despite my reservations; due to the poor service and inferior meal, I generously gave a $30.00 cash tip. The waitress didn't bother to thank me. Looking at the money she defiantly said, "It's not much!" How ungrateful, especially because tips are not mandatory. It seems most restaurant waiters/waitresses expect tips even when the food is low quality and service much less than adequate. Also, the parking lot is less than ideal being frequented by homeless people and thieves looking to steal from vulnerable cars. Given our experience, we won't be going back to Bobby's Table, ever. Nate's Deli on Rideau Street had the best smoked meat sandwiches. Bobby's Table doesn't compare in any way. Given what occurred I can't recommend Bobby's Table to potential future customers. read more

Great little hole in the wall. Very busy on a Thursday morning at around 8:45am. Very cheap weekday breakfast special (4.95) - 2 eggs, toast, meat, potatoes or beans (I got 50/50) and a coffee. Loved the little jug of water left at our table. Super nice server, even offered to let me try the potatoes before ordering, when I asked what style they were (e.g. hash brown, fried). Food was pretty standard, but then again we didn't try anything too adventurous. They sell a number of take away items like pickled goodies, individual baked things (squares, muffins). Will be back! It's a nice little spot my friends took me to. I got the regular breakfast which is very reasonable priced. For $9.95 you get 2 eggs(any style), 2 slices of bread, sausage, bacon, ham, potatoes, coffee and 1 tomato and cucumber slice(?) Service is really good and they made everything exactly the way I asked so I have no complaints. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is cause the hashbrowns were actually not that good. Went on a weekend, super busy but they bust out the food super fast. Cheapest breakfast I've ever gotten, and enjoyed the food. I love that the hash browns are seasoned and have onions in it. Staff are very friendly and you can tell it's a neighbourhood fave with the locals. Moving to the area soon, and this will definitely be our go to spot! I went here on a friends suggestion and I wasn't disappointed. The first time I went for breakfast and this has to be the best diner coffee that I have had. It was actually quite drinkable! Breakfast here is inexpensive, but satisfying! But the sandwiches are the best choice here. The meat is smoked Montreal-style and sandwiches are served with thick home-cut fries. Yumm. This is a classic diner through and through, but the breakfast is what breakfast should be priced and it is delicious. Get the special if you want to go really affordable or get the big breakfast and don't eat lunch. The staff is really friendly and the smoked meat is legendary. Found this location through internet searches for a great breakfast location while on a visit to Ottawa. The Eggs were flavourless as were the potatoes, I mean add some salt and pepper while cooking at least please. My wife got Bacon and it was burnt to the point of shattering into shards when she tried to pick it up. Our drinks were not refilled and I had to ask for jam for my toast. I love smoked meat sandwiches. I order them quite frequently when we eat out. Today I had the worst smoked meat sandwich I have ever eaten in over 30 years. It was incredibly fatty and very difficult not only to eat but to digest. We spoke to the waitress who advised that the entire piece of meat was like that and the next time I ordered I should ask for lean meat. Two problems with that advice. First of all, in my view, if the meat was that fatty they should have used better judgement and not used it. I can understand a certain amount of fat but not to the extent I had. The second issue is that this was our second visit to Bobby's Table. I wasn't that happy the first time but decided that it could have been a one off so thought we would try a second time. After today's visit, I can say with some certainty there won't be a third time. On the plus side, my husband was quite happy with his hot chicken sandwich. read more

I went in hoping for an above average Bacon & 2 breakfast. This was on the menu and very reasonably priced. I went for the Big Appetite. Eggs (2) - Opted for poached today (soft). * * * * Bacon, Sausage and Ham - Bacon perfectly balanced of crisp and meaty, Sausages tasty, Ham - well sliced ham on the griddle needs zero skill to prepare for Breakfast so can't really say anything more than it was good too. Hash Browns - * * * * * - Tasty Crispy outside soft inside, done with a bit of onion and some spicyness. Excellent. Toast - Rye bread ( Bonus in my books ) Fruit Salad - More bonus marks Slice of Cucumber and Tomato - Sure why not! The Coffee is good. Diner coffee. Nothing over the top. Breakfast food is good and cheap but the none breakfast selection is of a lower quality and not worth even the rather modest price.

I went to this place on a whim, because of the plain sign out front. The food arrived quickly, Bobby was very friendly, and the restaurant was very cozy. I tried the smoked meat sandwich, and my friend tried the bacon cheeseburger, and both were great. The smoked meat was fantastic, the burger was huge, and the fries for both were hand cut and fresh fried. I really liked this place! What I think feels the most special about the place is all of the food feels handcrafted in the way that you don't come across in larger places. The burger was seasoned in a unique (still good) way, and the pickles and coleslaw had flavours that could only be had by making the two from scratch read more

I was here 4 years ago and had horrible service. Snarky waitress despite my numerous attempts to lighten her mood. So I ddI t go back again until this afternoon. My waitress this time was a different woman. She approached the table with a soulless look in her eyes. Didn't introduce herself. Asked if we wanted coffee and we said yes. Then she disappeared for 13 minutes (it wasn't busy) then came back with coffee (no water-fail) and took our order. The cook dropped our food off. The order was wrong. We asked for one burger well done- it wasn't. Bacon was undercooked. My burger was amazing though. Home cooked, great deli bun and we both liked the fries. Fresh cut and well done. Server never once came to the table to see if everything was ok or top up our coffee. We finished and sat waiting. Nothing. Then stood up and went to the counter to pay. She asked "how was everything" I bit my tongue. The $1.00 tip might hint to my experience. Running a diner doesn't take much. Your front of house staff is everything. A smile and a little thoughtfulness and personality is paramount. Even if the food is mediocre (which really it wasn't) The atmosphere was totally clutter-f*#ked. A picture fell off the wall and hit a woman sitting next to the wall. I recommend you stay home. Cook your own burger and serve yourself. Hidden gem! Had the smoked salmon benedict.... best egss benedict I've ever had! Hollandaise sauce was perfect. Portion and price was perfect.
