I hate to only give two stars. I used to LOVE this place when they were located on Peoria before the Light Rail forced them to move. Last night, my husband and I wanted really good cheesesteaks. I checked out the reviews here on Yelp and took note of how this place was under new management and different. Still, there were enough good reviews for me to check them out for myself. We drove 20 minutes to get these cheesesteaks. 40 minutes round trip. We get to the location and I'm immediately disappointed. The door was propped wide open for some reason. Maybe the building got smoky and they were airing it out, I'm not too sure. But it was 50 degrees in Denver last night and the whole restaurant (small space) was freezing cold. We had our kids with us, so it was definitely not somewhere that we could just sit and eat comfortably. The menu looked totally different, The woman ringing us up was nice, but seemed a little out of it. Everyone seemed a little out of it. My husband joked and said they all seemed high, but now that I think about it, that very well could have been true. They told us that they were out of French fries, and that sounded so silly being that they're a cheesesteak place. My first instinct was why don't they run to King Soopers and grab some more, but whatever. They offered to give us onion rings or sweet potato fries instead without the up charge and that was very nice. As we were paying, I watched the guy with the long hair start my sons chicken nuggets in the Fryer and he touched just about everything, including our food without any gloves. If you don't care about that kind of stuff, cool, but I was pretty turned off. As we were leaving, the nice young man that brought the bag of food out reviewed our order and confirmed that everything was in the bag. He let us know that they did give my son extra chicken nuggets and that was nice too. However, we get home and it turns out they in fact never gave us our onion rings to go with the adult sandwiches. This was extremely disappointing. They already didn't have fries and then they shorted us by not giving us the onion rings that came with the meal. The sandwiches were yummy, but completely wrong. I'll take some fault though, I need to start being anal again and checking my bag before I leave food places. The experience was just overall not great and I'm definitely careful about how I spend my money and I want my $30 back! I'm pretty sure I'll never drive 20 minutes for a cheesesteak again after this. They have new owners and improved 100% the meat is a much better quality then before.

Have been here a couple of times and it is pretty good. The Cheese steaks are okay for $$$ he is charging. The service is mediocre with Chester just taking orders like a robot. My only problem is that they use frozen steakum "pucks" It could be so much better if they used fresh rib eye steak. You also don't get very much meat so order the large steak. Other than that everything is is good and fresh. The place is very small place with only 5 tables. Its located in a strip mall so parking is good and I will keep going back. read more

This was a very pleasant surprise. Being a native of the Philadelphia area I am quite provincial when it comes to my cheesesteaks. I found this as a result of being in this area at lunch time with no plans and checking Yelp for lunch ideas. Small place, no frills, friendly woman behind the counter. Seems to be a Mom & Pop operation which is near and dear to my heart. Ordered an "Original" regular size and a fountain drink, $9.12. The sammich was a little larger than what I expected at that price. Overall good quality, well grilled onions and the most overlooked feature - a toasted roll. If you've read this far then you're the type that knows that the roll MAKES the sandwich. Since they don't have Amoroso, they took a lemon (non-Amoroso roll) and made lemonade (toasted that sucker). Truly elevated the flavor. I will be back to try their house special. read more

I have visited this place twice now. My first visit was alright. I mentioned to the counter person that I would like the house special, but without mushrooms due to dietary allergies. He said that was fine, but left to get my order placed and to make sure the cook knew. After lunch, my stomach felt poor, so I took some medicine prescribed just for these occasions, with the assumption they accidentally cross contaminated my order. This previous experience would have left me thinking "Ehh, accidents happen". However, today, I decide to take a work compadre with me to treat him to lunch for his birthday. While there I order the same, making sure to double state my allergy to Mushrooms, and my desire to have them left away from my food and let me not be ill. However, after placing our order, fixing our beverages, we take a seat in the booth closest to the soda machine, and being to hear a slight commotion from the kitchen. Raised voices, can be heard over our conversation, of which I can make out some words, mostly being complaints about making something special. Then as the younger female counter person (the first visit it was a young male) exits the back area, an older Male exits to point at the item on the menu I ordered, and exclaim loudly, "If someone wants X, it has Mushrooms, if it doesn't have Mushrooms it isn't X." X being the order, which I believe was the Number 2, The Works. See, I wanted to try the number 1 with pickles, since I like pickles, and this was the only one that had pickles on it. After lunch, as I sit at my desk, beginning the second half of my Friday, I start to feel an upset stomach. I retrieve the medicine that relieves such, and then realize I haven't needed it for over a week, and the last time was my previous visit, of which involves a Cook who can't respect or understand food allergies. read more

Nothing too special but good for a cheesesteak fix. Had the mushroom cheesesteak. Was a little light on the cheese tho.

Place has been renovated since the owner changed. Food tastes just as great if not better with a lot better customer service than the previous owner. The young lady cashier I've seen throughout most of my visits here is very respectful and kind. Although other cashiers seem to be a little off.. maybe cause they're new and adjusting but still great service. You can't come here and complain about the price being too high because their sandwiches are delicious and huge. Even the regular sized one is pretty big. The wings here are also cheap and good too. It takes a bit more time for it to come out because they make each batch from scratch. Worth visiting and trying for yourself, highly recommend for when you don't know what to eat. read more

First time here are even seeing this restaurant. My wife so happened to see it while passing by. I'm glad I made a u-turn. The philly steak n chicken cheese sandwiches were outstanding. Have gone here several times. The food is always HOT, Fresh and fantastic. If you want to change up the order or minimize something, just ask. I have gotten the Mushroom-Philly and the Chicken Philly and both are great. They are not drowning in cheese and have great flavor. The bread makes the sandwhich and it is fresh. You can get chips, potatoe salad or the Chili-Cheese Fries (which I prefer). Fountain Drink, can or bottle, it is good. Definately give it a try it is worth it. This was my first time here and I was craving a philly. Not a difficult task to make an edible philly. And that's exactly what this place has to offer. A mediocre sandwich for a premium price. If I am going to pay $8 for only a sandwich, i expect something more than mediocre. The reason for two stars is based on my experience and the lack of customer service that came with it. Appears the owner is washed up and has given up on why he originally started in the first place. Time to change things up or shut the doors. I stop by this place every once in while I got a regular Philly cheesesteak. The several orders were correct, and last week I ordered a sandwich with onions, peppers and mushrooms. What I got was Onions and mushrooms not peppers. I called back and informed them of the issue. The cashier told me he didn't know what to do and he was sorry. I advised him that this sandwich is not cheap. Dave the sandwich guy got on the phone and told me he would remake the sandwich. When I went bad in he had an attitude and got me confused me with someone else saying out of the 1000's of sandwiches made, he has never made one raw? People in the restaurant looked up and I got my order and left. I will not return to this place. Bad Customer Service from Dave and not worth the price of a $ 9.00 sandwich. read more

Visited on 11/15/13 at opening of store for the day. The prices may be higher than corporate fast food joints but keep this in mind; you are supporting a small business. I would have liked a combo option but at this time one is not offered. They offer several different drink options from fountain soda to bottled products. The fountain soda taste a bit off on the mix and would do well to improve the customer experience by having that fixed as it seems there is more carbonation than syrup in the mix. I tried Dr.Pepper, Pepsi and the Mountain Dew. Due to the mix problem I found the Dr.Pepper and Pepsi unenjoyable, Mountain Dew can still be pretty good on a mix issue. Now to what you really want to hear about the food. I got the large Philly Cheese Steak with mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, and cheese and let's not forget the meat. I had thought about doubling the meat but was pleasantly surprised to find the sub over flowing. The bread was very soft with no hard spots I could find and tore easily when bit into. The vegetables in the sub were also very good and did not taste like they were mushy. The cheese was very good and did not taste like some cheap imitation cheese that some corporate chains use. There was so much cheese it every piece of food had it and it was over flowing when I opened the wrapper. The steak was very good, it was tender and flavor rich and I felt there was more than enough in the sub. I also had an order of fries. They are very good as well; although I can't tell you the brand they appear to be shoe string and were cooked just right. The inside of the restaurant was very clean and seemed to offer ample seating for the small space they have. The counter space was also clean with good spacing with a display cabinet showing off various cookies, drinks and sauces. The kitchen also appeared very clean and organized. The shelf to the left of the register front has condiments of sauces and extra items to add to your sub. The menu did offer a good selection of items like different types of subs that are not all steak, burgers and a few other items. I did not check the restroom but if I had I would have expected the same kind of cleanness I had already seen. I would recommend to come here for cheese steaks and to support a local business. In the end prices may have been higher than what you would expect (keep in mind small business) but I felt I did get my monies worth. Out of 10 points I would give them 8 out of 10 points. That's a light 8 based on issues with the fountain machine which could be easily fixed. read more

Chester makes a pretty decent cheesesteak, but that's it. The restaurant was decorated in the 80's and I'm betting that was the last time it was cleaned. Each time I frequent Chester's; I am surprised I don't come down with Ebola, but he has a decent cheesesteak. Not to mention, he is literally the cheapest person on planet Earth. He literally has his prized "Best Philly Awards" secured to the wall with masking tape. Apparently nails are too expensive. For a while, the bathroom didn't have a door handle, just a hole where a knob should go. However, I am glad to report he found a knob, probably at a garage sale and it's operational once again. But please take a look at how he fixed the door; it will bring a smile to your face. Don't even get me started on the condiments; first off he waters them down and refills the same old disgusting bottles. One of the bottles is an old ketchup bottle with a Franks Hot Sauce label taped to it, true story. I recommend using a napkin to dispense any condiments; I assure you those bottles have never been cleaned. He added the "tip" section on the receipt when you purchase one of his $14 cheesesteaks with a credit card. I always give him a fat goose egg and he typically gives me a stinky eyeball. Had a coworker overhear Chester complaining about people not tipping him, glad I didn't overhear, I would have lost it. Here's a tip Chester, clean that filthy dump up and provide a service if you want a tip. Lastly, quit scolding your employees directly in front of customers. It makes it awkward for everybody. In closing, he does have a tasty cheesesteak but only if you're brave enough to withstand his restaurant. read more
