Started out ok. I called the day before and got a quote to have some doors rekeyed. The price was better than anyone else I had called. I called back today to see if they could take a credit card and was told yes, but I needed to confirm setting up the service with the homeowner. When I called back I got a machine whereas I had always spoken to a human right away on my previous calls. So, I figured I would just keep calling back every few minutes until I could speak to a human. Typically in most businesses this isn't an issue, especially if they have this kind of "press this number to go here" answering machine. Not this time. same person as before answered as before and told me how rude I was to keep calling. This doesn't seem like a good model for business retention. The price is right, but the customer service needs work. read more

Helped me copy a key I couldn't get anyone else to copy. I went to 9 different places, 4 of the places copied the key but none of the keys fit my lock. This place was my last effort. Chet's came in clutch! read more

We made an appointment for the next day, the locksmith Jason was right on time, gave me a run down of the work that needed to be done - correcting some of my assumptions, rekeyed our locks, ground down one of the locks that was a little tight and even helped me change my garage door code. Wow! Changes have been made and it's GREAT! Love it! No smell of cigarette smoke! Beautiful store with all kinds of good stuff. Keys were made in less than 5 minutes and we were out the door. I love this place because they make keys that work the first time. I would rate them a zero if I could. Stopped in their office yesterday to tell them that I have a commercial building where one of the tenants is having a difficult time getting their key to work. I took a picture of the lock thinking that it might help them give me some advice or be able to help them see if this was a particular type of lock. I was told that they would need to come out and they would have a tech come out to the building this morning at 8 am. At 8:30 I called them but had to leave a message, just a few moments later they called back and told me that they never said the appointment was at 8 am and that they would need the master key and the tenant's key. I told him that I have the master key but was not told that they would need the tenant's key. I wanted to get this fixed before that tenant arrived and that I wasn't aware when the tenant would even come in. He told me that it would be a waste of time without both keys and that he never told me that they would be there at 8. He then went off on me cussing and calling me a MF. I was always told that the customer is ALWAYS right, but maybe they have never heard of that saying! Unless you want to be cussed out, stay away from Chets Lock and Key! read more

We had Mark from Chet's out today to rekey the doors on our new house. He was fantastic and did a professional, thorough job. He even filed our strike plates to make sure the doors were closing securely. He took care of everything efficiently and for a fair price. We paid a service fee for them to come to the house but it was totally worth it as he addressed a few issues that hadn't occurred to me when we set up the call. Very professional and easy to work with and we got an appointment in a timely manner. read more

Wish I had known about and gone there first. Home Depot was out of the size key I needed, and Ace Hardware didn't have it either. Fortunately, they referred me to Chet's Lock & Key. I was in and out in literally less than three minutes with my new key and for less than $3.00. read more

I took an antique bank without a key to the shop to have it opened. The man at the store said he had something to open it and went in the back room. He came back with it opened. How could I know what was in the bank if he took it in the back room? Definitely a bad idea to open a bank without the customer present!!! read more
