To celebrate slurpee day on July 7th, we visited 7-Eleven for a free small slurpee. My colleagues and I visited this 7-Eleven, which is located in downtown Bellevue during the lunch hour. We expected a line, but fortunately, not many people were here for slurpee day, so we were able to get in and out. Located off of Bellevue Way, it's easy to spot with plenty of parking in the business strip it's located in. A few of the slurpees here are based off of soda, which I don't drink. But I did find lemonade slurpees, including a mango one, which I ended up getting for slurpee day. It was way too sugary to finish, but hey, it's free. The cashier was fine with us trying the different slurpees before committing to one. When he saw we all had our small slurpees, we were able to just walk out without a purchase. Easy peasy. All in all, it's a typical 7-Eleven with treats, snacks, some items you may need on the go and for convenience, with questionable hot food items. This isn't Japan, guys. You know how it is.

Looking to grab some quick lunch and seeing Amazon Go across the way I figured I'd give it a shot…read more I'd forgotten how it works here so as I'm fumbling around trying to figure it out an employee came out and walked me through it which I appreciated. There are also instructions on screen to try and guide you. You open up the app and find the QR reader and make sure you have your payment set, scan and go in. From what I understand there are cameras and sensors that track your purchases so when you walk out it just bills your account and emails you a receipt. Very interesting concept. So, my impressions of it all outside of the cashless check out is that it's basically a 7 Eleven or similar convenience store. Some hot food and cold sandwich options, lots of drinks to choose from including soft drinks, coffee and plenty of snacks. The prices are a little higher than at a convenience store, especially since at say 7 Eleven they may have 2 for $4 on a bottle of coke or some similar promotion. Here at Amazon Go they sort of have a promotion but they're more akin to Subway where you have to buy a sandwich or something. I had a mini personal pizza from here and at $5 it wasn't bad. I'd go again simply for that but beyond that Amazon Go is just a cashless convenience store, convenient so that you don't have to really deal with lines.

Very convenient. Easy to grab lunch or dinner. The only problem is that they don't refill quickly…read morethe food by 12:30PM there is already no salad or sushi. Sometimes also you get charged twice for the same item so check your receipt on your account.

What really stood out, though, was how unhappy most of the employees looked. The cashier and the woman in the photo section especially seemed like they'd rather be anywhere else. Maybe it was a rough day or they were short‑staffed, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. On the bright side, one employee -- a petite, dark‑haired woman -- was super upbeat and friendly, smiling at everyone who walked by. She single‑handedly earned them an extra star from me.

The Worst Pharmacy Experience I've Ever Had…read more This was my first time using this Walgreens pharmacy, and it will definitely be my last. I'll gladly drive farther before having another prescription sent here. Around 1:00 p.m., I called to see if my prescription was ready. The person I spoke with told me they were about to go on their lunch break, but said it would be ready by 2:00, and definitely no later than 2:30. Since I also needed a knee compression sleeve, I figured I'd head over around 1:30 and do some shopping while I waited. By the time I finished and got in line at the pharmacy, I ended up standing there for close to an hour. It was finally about 2:30 when I got to the counter, so I assumed I'd be in and out. The employee asked for my information, walked over to the prescription bins, and spent a little while looking around. It seemed pretty obvious my prescription was already there. She came back and told me to have a seat because the pharmacist still needed to review it. So I waited. Five minutes passed. Then ten. Then fifteen. Meanwhile, I watched the pharmacist continue helping customer after customer without ever acknowledging me or giving me an update. At that point I wasn't even frustrated about the wait anymore--I just wanted someone to explain what was going on. Around 2:50, as the pharmacist was about to help yet another customer, I'd had enough. I walked up and said this was unacceptable and that I wanted to speak with the manager. The pharmacist came over and asked what happened. I explained everything, including the phone call earlier in the day. What surprised me was that he didn't seem to believe I had even called. I pulled out my phone and showed him my call history. I even asked him how else I would have known they were going on lunch break if I hadn't spoken to someone there. Instead of trying to fix the problem, the conversation turned into figuring out which employee I had talked to, almost like they were trying to catch me in a lie. That was honestly the most frustrating part. At that point, I didn't care whose mistake it was--I just wanted the prescription I had been told would be ready. What really stood out was that I wasn't the only unhappy customer. While this was happening, other people waiting started chiming in, saying this pharmacy is always slow, that they've had similar experiences, and that it wasn't the first time. I understand pharmacies get busy, and I know prescriptions have to be handled carefully. I'm not asking anyone to rush something that affects my health. But if you tell someone a prescription will be ready by a certain time, don't make them wait an hour in line only to tell them to sit down with no explanation while everyone else keeps getting helped. Communication, honesty, and a little respect for people's time go a long way. Unfortunately, I didn't experience any of that here.

I…read morefinally switched over to a local, family-owned pharmacy (Nguyen Pharmacy) because of repeatedly terrible experiences with this Walgreens. I don't blame the pharmacists that work here. I feel like they do the best they can with the limited resources they have. They are regularly understaffed, even before the pandemic. I have to take controlled substances for my disabilities and my refills were delayed every time. The app is helpful for submitting your refill request but not for getting status updates (same with opting in for text updates). Whenever I have to call in to the pharmacy to get clarification on my prescription refill request (usually prior authorization is needed or more information from my doctor is needed or it's too early to request a refill), I'm put on hold for 30 minutes, sometimes over an hour. There is an annoying automated message that plays literally every 10 seconds (I've counted) the entire time you're on hold so it really is maddening. A couple of times, I've waited on hold for 30+ minutes only for the call to drop, therefore losing my place "in line" (though sometimes there is no other callers in line, it's just that the staff are prioritizing customers that are in-store or in the drive through). My experience after switching to a local, family-owned pharmacy has been night and day (you can see my review of Nguyen Pharmacy on their Yelp page). Also, I wasn't expecting my medication to be free at Nguyen compared to the amount I pay with Walgreens, despite the cost estimator for my medical insurance showing the cost estimate for Nguyen as the same as Walgreens. I've experienced long lines (in-person and in drive through) and being put on hold at other Walgreens locations in Seattle and in other states. I'm not sure if it's Walgreens-specific or if customers of other national pharmacy chains experience the same thing. All I know is Walgreens on S Jackson ain't it for pharmacy needs.
