So you know he's counted up his till or something & trying to split, except I've come through here in the dead of winter, and they've been open later than 10:30. Whatever. Our water pump went out and we knew it was going to be hard to find a mechanic on a Friday night let alone a Saturday! Thankfully we had it towed to slates corner with in 5 minutes from calling a local towing businesses. Thankfully he could fix it! First thing Saturday morning he got the new water pump and began the repair. The kids and I sat in the store chatting with the owner Darletta and her daughter Lilly. They are amazing people, made my little family feel completely welcomed. Our car was fixed by noon and we were ready to head back on our first family vacation ! The cost of the repair was extremely cheaper then what we are used to. I could not believe the amazingly fast and friendly service we received! We will always stop for gas and snacks every time we drive on hwy 12 on our way to he ocean!

I've never been sure whether the place…read moreis called "Adams Market" because it's at the intersection with Adams, is called "Adam's Market" after someone named Adam, or is called "Adam Market" as it's sometimes rendered in other online results. The great thing about this place is the owner, who is jolly and sarcastic and funny, although his wit does tend to run a little absurd and not a little dry. Almost as great, though, is the selection of Middle Eastern foods. It's a great place to stock up on boxes of mahmouls for cheap, or to get tins of stuffed grape leaves, which are a vastly better snack than the paltry selection of heavily-processed junk food. Fresh, but limited, but huge, baklavah. The real wonder, though, is a small row of sodas in the back. Not the fancy burdock-and-ass English stuff, but the selection of Lebanese fruit sodas by Kazouza, the best of which is the watermelon. None of them are HFCS-loaded crap, but the watermelon nonetheless captures the fanciful watermelon flavor of something like a Jolly Rancher without being too cloying (at least, for the first few bottles.) It's so wonderful. Like, it completely changed my view of carbonated beverages. It's also a reliable place to get ayran, which is good when the Kazouza gets too sickly-sweet. Also, the brand of ayran they stock is also very useful as a yogurt culture, and at least with the milk from my goats that I tried it with, it resulted in some absurdly-thick and wonderful stuff. Some of the staff other than the owner can be a bit grumpy or difficult, and some of them are quite sweet and outgoing. Still, it's hard to fault the gruff ones. It's the most centrally-located and only late-night convenience store in downtown Olympia. It's a great place to rub shoulders with people who are drunk at noon and people who are far gone in the middle of the night. It really functions as Olympia's only Middle Eastern market. International Spice and Halal used to carry much of the same stuff, and since it closed and its owner moved on to other things, this is the best place to go. And it does a good job of that, while also doing a good job of being a convenience store. A very cool place. Near and dear to my heart.

Just head North (toward where the signs point to Elma and the road ends), then turn right at the stop sign. You'll see them on the right when you're at the stop sign (they're next to the big motel). Do yourself a favor and keep going past the little place on the left next to the bowling alley, even though they look busy. They get busy because a lot of tourists get off the highway for gas or something and it's the first place they see. Sure, they have pretty much the same things as Astro Toad's, but not the ultra-friendly employees or the awesome deli items! This is the ONLY place I ever stop for gas or a bite to munch on or a coffee refill when I pass through Elma, and like I said, I even make a special point to stop. It's not uncommon to pay almost $10 for a bag of chips. Just a warning. The service is a hit or miss depending on the time of day and season. The staff can get tired of tourists and not be as friendly. The selection is limited due to the remote location of Ocean Shores. This means if you are looking for special ethnic foods and vegetables, you maybe out of luck. Bring these items from home. I am SE Asian and the selection was lacking as far as fresh herbs and greens go. I was missing many sauces over the years for stir fry like sesame seed oil, hunan, and chili oil. I drove to Olympia for Jasmine rice purchased 100lbs at a time. The deli is pricey but there is only one McDonalds in town and no other fast food options. Most the restauarants are $20 or more per entree. Hence the deli fried chicken and warn foods will look less expensive. The JoJos friend chicken is popular along with the potatoes wedges.
