I had to lower my review for this place. When you go through the dairy department and you start picking up items that have been expired for months. An example was the Tillamook cream cheese. It expired in January and here it is April. The more I began to look at things the more I found items were expired or close to their expiration date. I also have to mention that their prices have gone up a great deal in the store. It was a slap in the face to see how expensive items have gotten. read more

Welcome to a tourist town with one major grocery store. I lived in Ocean Shores for over 2 years. I joined the membership rewards and never really received any perks. I spent roughly $300 a week on groceries conservatively speaking. The pricing of the products are higher in the Summer and tourist season. This sucks for the locals but it is common with all businesses in Ocean Shores. I recommend shopping at Costco for your staples before going on vacation in Ocean Shores. It's not uncommon to pay almost $10 for a bag of chips. Just a warning. The service is a hit or miss depending on the time of day and season. The staff can get tired of tourists and not be as friendly. The selection is limited due to the remote location of Ocean Shores. This means if you are looking for special ethnic foods and vegetables, you maybe out of luck. Bring these items from home. I am SE Asian and the selection was lacking as far as fresh herbs and greens go. I was missing many sauces over the years for stir fry like sesame seed oil, hunan, and chili oil. I drove to Olympia for Jasmine rice purchased 100lbs at a time. The deli is pricey but there is only one McDonalds in town and no other fast food options. Most the restauarants are $20 or more per entree. Hence the deli fried chicken and warn foods will look less expensive. The JoJos friend chicken is popular along with the potatoes wedges. read more

This is a grocery store in a tourist town. It's not huge but it looks like it has everything one would need. Locals shop there too and that made me wonder how anyone could afford to shop there on the regular. Prices were on the high side even for the staples. One exception was the eggs were $2.99 a dozen. With all the talk of egg prices that seemed reasonable. The cashiers were friendly one called Mrs Billy D Babycakes. That made me chuckle. The place was well stocked and clean. Shelves were orderly and faced. Just know you will pay a premium. read more

Most employees could not be more friendly or helpful. They work hard for little pay and put up with the public constantly. The work is generally tedious and requires standing and lifting. Prices certainly do not explain low pay, however. Recently, Marie Calendar pies were on sale for $5.99. They shot back up to $11.99, but, online, in most stores, they are no more than $6.99. One day, A&W root beer skyrocketed from 3.59 to over 5.00. (The price dropped again when the bottles stayed on the shelves.) The workers ROCK. The corporation does NOT. read more

The selections are really nice here and the staff is very friendly. It's also really clean. My only issue is that the food prices are a bit higher then most. I mean, I get that it's pretty far out and transportation is expensive, but if people shop more at your location then driving 30 minutes to Aberdeen, then you'd get more business to accommodate for the transport fees. read more

They had signs at check-out that they are missing a lot of product due to covid. Saw some empty shelves on each aisle. Big parking lot that needs to be repaved. We shopped here three times while vacationing on the coast in March. It was the only game in town as far as I could tell, so this is where we went. It had everything we needed and more. We especially enjoyed the meat department, where we bought steaks for grilling on all three visits. I do remember raising my eyebrows at the cost of at least one of the steaks, but again, we were on vacation and didn't know of another place to shop. Overall, I was happy to find such a well stocked store. We plan to visit the area again next year, staying once again in Copalis Beach, and we would definitely be inclined to shop here. read more

For a small IGA this store packs in a whole lot of merchandise. The aisles are narrow so more products can be in the store. The narrow aisles are the only negative. The staff were all very friendly and I recognized a few from prior times we have stayed in "Shores." This store, and Buck Electric/Ace Hardware, were my "go to" stores for the time period when we cared for my wife's sister. Don't expect a big city selection, but there is everything we needed for about a 5-6 month stay. read more

I spent two nights in Ocean Shores, WA as vacation and stopped in to pick-up a few things. I was happy at the large selection of items. The employees were friendly and well trained. I was able to get my shopping done quickly in a store I had never visited before. Ample Handicap parking as well. read more

The residents of Ocean Shores.....they deserve wayyyyyyy better than this here. Way better. Anybody would. It is here that me and my sisters vacationed this past weekend and they are truly some good accommodating, welcoming people. Note: This is the ONLY place where there was no Ocean Shores hospitality or appreciation of customers. The ONLY...place. As always, I am going to be very honest in this review but this is a little more personal for me. Although I haven't been to or seen an IGA in years--I have been to a lot of them in my 54 yrs of life. As a matter fact, I grew up on them. It was our neighborhood grocery store in Mount Morris, Michigan. Memories. Record scratch. Reality. HEALTH DEPARTMENT...ughhh...where you at? IGA if you read this--you need to shut THIS 'glass slide of micro-organisms in tha' form of a grocery store'--straight.....DOWN. Not only are your prices gouging tha' 'unfair, nothing to back it up--HELL' out of the nice residents and tourist there, it is 'some dangerous to consumers' food in here. You are no longer that caring provider of consumer goods and services that I remember as a kid that my momma got ALL her groceries from. No. You are nothing more than a damn 'gangster food chain' praying on the needs of a community of good people. Feeding off the convenience of their precious time. And furthermore, if ALL your IGA STORES have sharply declined like this--shame on you. SHAME. A can of 'unscented' Lysol $7.00 rounded off. A pack 'cool' (I'll touch on this in a sec) Hebrew Nations hotdogs...$8.15. A generic box of 25 ft. thin roll of foil...$6 rounded off and yes--tacked-on change and tax. The only thing we sacrificed and purchased cause I needed it (and a foil pan) but-- The real issue: A lot of that meat...was 'discolored' and some--more than others. Meats that were delivered vacuum-pack (those in the cold-cut section like the sliced salame that comes with the tight suction)--yeah the plastic was loose. Meaning air has entered because of punctured packaging. Salame/Salami discolored or 'faded' and broken vacuum pack. Some of the hamburger...discolored. Some of the Beef steaks...discolored. Look here-- in all this...when I say some...I'm not talking one or two. Some as in...SEVERAL. And when I say discolored or faded THAT is not an exaggeration Yelpers. I KNOW what good meat look like. I know what meat in the stages of spoilage--looks like. Now, I didn't see all the meats but what I did see rendered me uninterested in the rest. Pass. I know that 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' really doesn't fit this particular yelp cause we talking about food. But immo be honest---60 something folks on here need glasses and a new damn tongue. Cause their reviews are baffling. The problem I believe was because the meats were not COLD but 'cool to the touch'. A sign--of VERY poor electrical...VERY poor refrigeration. I say this also because walking down the aisle of the ice cream were mostly NO lighted cases. They were ALL dark. Chunks of frost and ice build-up--from sporadic 'condensation', had all but fully encapsulated some of the individual ice cream cartons on the top shelf. One shelf had literately a shelf of frozen 'snow covered ice' that had formed close to 1 1/2-2 inch 'ice icicles shards' hanging from the front shelves. Those conditions can render good creamy ice-Cream...stale and grainy. Sadly enough these were quality Tillamook and Umqua brands. All that, brings up another point. The employees yeah they lacked being approachable, happiness in disposition and an ALWAYS NEEDED appreciation of customers. Why??? Because they are a product of this sad, filthy environment and vs. versa. In other words..."you are what you eat". Neither cares. The company. As a whole. If it's consistently like this... It has a Mortally-wounded, Badly broken leg. Let me say that again. MORTALLY. BADLY. Take it to tha' barn, take out the ole' Winchester...and yes--put it out of its MISERY. Shoot it. You all who live there...take the time. Take a drive out. I know...convenience is good but this isn't good nor fair for or to you. BOYCOTT that hotmess of a so-called' store and treat yourself and your family better than IGA thinks you deserve and because of convenience--tries to force down your throat to receive. If you are a tourist--reverse Nike and "Just...Don't". Stock up on what you need...heck...go to 'Wally World' on tha' way...but all of you...don't let these people think it's okay to provide 'subpar' ANYTHING...for the sake of convenience. Convenience is not always a great thing. When we had pulled in the parking lot and I saw the IGA letters of long ago, my heart got glad because I thought they were (like most small stores unfortunately)...out of business. I was glad to see survival here. So...SO glad. However once inside ummmm...wow... They should Most DEFINITELY...be--OUT OF BUSINESS. read more

I was willing to put up with the price gouging of a small town store. Willing to deal with limited products. But the fact that the employees not only refuse to enforce masking, distancing with one way isles, or limiting occupancy --none of them wear masks! The last two times I tried to shop there, the cashiers wore plastic face shields and no masks. I didn't see a single employee wear a mask and maybe half the customers wore them. That final time I went, I looked around for a moment and just walked back out. I will not be back. If they care so little about the safety of their customers, I cannot trust their food handling practices either. I know common sense and public safety became a political divide in this country, but I really expected more from our local shop. I know they lost several great employees because of this Trumper stupidity, and I wish those people well. Don't shop here unless you want to earn a Herman Cain Award. read more

2 stars... when buying alcohol all people in party must show ID . Well that goes for today but yesterday they didn't follow that policy. Cashier said to us you know this expires in September.. Its July and I'm and adult please mind your own and focus on your stupid policy of the store. you can not buy alcohol with a minor present. That's what Tabitha says. This review is based solely on the fact that 1) they're open late, and 2) they carry flashlights. Protip: DO NOT EXPECT TO GET TO THE BEACH WITHOUT A FLASHLIGHT. We were morons and didn't realize this fact, and thankfully IGA was open to get us a light source so we didn't fall and kill ourselves. Awesome! read more

For a smaller grocery store in ocean shores they have quite the selection. After a day of hanging around town we decided to stop on our way home. We just wanted to check it out & see exactly what there was to offer. We were able to wander aimlessly & accumulate a nice random assortment of goodies & drinks. While pacing the isles we noticed that this little store actually carries a lot of things that we would find in our local "major" grocery store. Honestly the bakery has more to offer than just a few name brand products. It was good to see that they have some cakes, pies, etc that are from their bakery alone. The deli section actually had some things that looked good, unfortunately we were stuffed full from dinner & stopping for ice cream. Honestly doesn't come across well from the first impression & it's not the cleanest grocery store that I've been in but if you actually go inside you will see that there is a lot to offer here. Prices aren't unreasonable which is what you would expect from a smaller grocery store that is the only option in the area. The staff was friendly & we were asked a few times if we needed any help while there. We had no issues while there. It was a Sunday evening so it wasn't extremely busy. We will continue to shop here as needed while in town. read more

I was particularly confused by the customer service here. The cashier we first came to was clearly either exhausted, angry, or both. She was extremely rude. The bagger next to her was friendly, and even gave us directions. Then, because we hadn't been able to find an item before we were at the check out, he told us where to find it and we made another purchase at customer service. This cashier was super friendly. Over all, the store seemed to be missing certain essential items, or they were just not in the place you would expect to see them. Would rather just drive into Aberdeen. read more

Besides being overpriced, I like IGA. The sale items are good, but there is some seriously price gouging going on here. Not sure how full time residents (maybe they don't) can afford to buy stuff. Some items are more expensive them PCC and Whole Foods. They do have everything you need and during busy holiday weekend the shelves do become bare. They should offer discounts for Ocean Shores residents. They have large selection of produce, breads and cheeses. We love to stop in and get a large bowl of their deli hot soups! Great little grocery store! They have pretty much everything you'd need to get by in a pinch. I like the novelty items, they really try to cater to everyone. Very friendly staff! CONS: -can be super busy during summer -entrance from road can be congested by traffic so be careful pulling in and out while cars are leaving parking stalls etc it's a bit crazy read more

Only real grocery store in the area. Staff are real friendly and helpful. They have all the grocery and supplies you would need for an extended vacation to the coast. This is the only grocery chain in Ocean Shores and they get pretty busy on weekends. Power was knocked out when we arrived in OS so the entire frozen and cooler section was closed. We were bummed out, but completely understood their situation. We did pick up some wine (they have a good selection for a small grocery chain), snacks, toiletries and beverages. They also have a Red Box for those looking to rent DVDs. read more

We live here and limit our shopping at the IGA, to as seldom as possible. Rat. A GIANT one ran across the aisle from the bread area into the deli area. Being an animal lover, I understand that rats need to eat too... But not in the IGA. I walked over to the deli counter and discretely told the guy at the counter what I had just witnessed and he said "thanks" and DID NOTHING. He didn't call his manager over, he didn't go looking for the rat, he didn't do anything. After seeing the rat, I started to notice that there were feces along the backs of the shelving on the lower sections throughout the store... I questioned the packaging of EVERYTHING i purchased that day and made sure there was no feces or urine on my food wrappers. Not only is this gross, but it's unsanitary and upsetting. And I think the worst part of it is, that there's NO WHERE else to shop for groceries unless you drive back to Aberdeen. YUCK. read more

You KNOW it's going to be expensive. Washington coastal towns are known for their lack of ingress and egress, meaning the local shops will take advantage of their convenience and charge you prices through the roof. This IGA is no different. That established, it is still a fine little store with ample selection and periodic sales that are actually quite competitive. Since the WA booze law change, they're also the biggest booze joint in town. Overall, they're expensive, but compared to the alternative (45 minutes away), it's worth it when you just need a small tub of Sour Cream. Keep shopping here folks, or it'll go the way of the Westport Red Apple and close for good. read more

The single star rating is solely based on the way my husband and I were treated. If I had the employees name I would complain directly to management. The girl cashiering the closing shift on 7/17/13 was beyond rude. My husband and I approached the checkout at 11:30 only to have our items literally snatched out of our hands and thrown on the counter. She told us our total as if she was scolding us for even shopping there, then after the transaction was completed walked away before we could see if she was wearing a name tag. RUDE! If you don't like people don't work in customer service in a tourist town! We will be following up with a phone call to the manager today. Small-town-USA. The lady behind me in line started helping the cashier bag my groceries...they are neighbors, and friends, and probably co-workers either here or somewhere else. Better selection than I imagined, much higher prices than I imagined too. Luckily, I packed up almost all the groceries I needed, knowing I would have to hit the store for perishables. Items are easily 50% higher than what I am used to paying, but hey, they are all the way out here...so I get it. Nice deli, lots of salads, fresh items to choose from, friendly...works for me. And honestly, they are the only ones out here...for MILES...they could have ball-busting prices and shitty-assed service, but they don't...so I appreciate it. read more

I don't have fond memories of this store during previous Ocean Shores visits, but this time, we found almost everything we needed. The produce was in very nice shape, and the prices were much more reasonable than I'd anticipated. Great grapes, apples, and mushrooms. The deli was pretty scary, though. I found food that they'd packaged themselves, in their open refrigerator case, that had expired, but couldn't get a clerk's attention to alert them. They had more cheese than I expected, and it was not cheap, but at least there were options. Nice staff, friendly, and helpful. I'll probably bypass the deli next time, although the way the store is laid out, you're almost forced to walk through it. read more

Considering this is the only full-sized grocery store in Ocean Shores, I'm happy enough that it exists. However, it's definitely not the best grocery store around.... The prices here are VERY high. This is probably a given, considering it is basically a tourist town, but we are talking VERY high. The aisles are also organized very oddly and it took me 10 minutes to find the aisle that carried medicine! I also was hoping to purchase a candy bar, but they do not have a candy aisle here. The only have the few choices of candy bars at the checkout. Kind of odd, if you ask me. On the plus side, the lines move very quickly and they have an overall decent product selection (minus candy, of course). read more

Since it's the only "real" grocery store in town, we make several trips here during our visits to Ocean Shores. As much as I love to pack, there is only so much we can bring. Therefore, I *heart* the IGA. The selection is good, as long as you shop before the hordes of people decend. Recommend that you go Friday night during the summer; don't wait until Saturday! The place is picked-over as if by locusts by Sunday. The service is great. Small-town friendlies who are obviously prepared for the tourists that take over during the summer months. I love that you can go there at 11:00 PM and get last minute mixers, snacks and munchies when the rest of the town is shut down by 8PM. Highly recommended! read more
