Well, Baytown Buc-ees was my 4th in a series of stops around the southern United States. My only…read moreregret was not stopping at the one in MS, but I really wanted stop in Biloxi and get to New Orleans. I had also just stopped in Alabama and spent a fair amount of time at that Buc-ee's location. Baytown Buc-ees was a stop I made at about 3:30pm on 6/10/26 and I knew I was going to battle Houston traffic to get to Austin! I was able to purchase some nuts and snacks here and the store was consistent with other stores in the chain-- tons of food, super clean restrooms, mesmerizing merch, and plenty of gas pumps. Along with my love of Buc-ee's, I also have a ton of perks at Starbucks and was pleased to see that there was a store next to Buc-ee's. I was able to get a cold brew and be on my way in 30min. Fastest Buc-ee's/Starbucks stop on my trip! I guess it possible to do a quick stop at Buc-ee's, but before I left I saw a manager and asked her if this was the first Buc-ees and she said in a polite TX voice, "No sir, we are store #34" She also let me know that the first store was in Clute, TX. Knowledgeable staff!! Since I live near the first Chipotle I was curious. I didn't get to visit the 1st Buc-ee's store or the first In and Out Burger on this trip but there will be more. :) I did visit the first KFC and museum in Corbin KY! lol

You can literally buy anything here...food, drinks, clothes, souvenirs, candles, etc. Some of my favorites are the beaver nuggets, glazed nuts, and Buc-ee's OverBite (Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter). And I have always had good service!

Stuckey's may not be the brand it once was with its carnival like experience that I remember as a…read morechild on a family road-trip but it's revitalization brings back those memories each time I stop in - today's visit was about fuel, a restroom break and a hot cup of Dunkin Donut coffee for my drive from Houston to Florida and they get an A+ in these categories. Being I was driving eastbound on I-10 I had to cross the viaduct to access it but it was really simple since this location is in rural Texas. The fuel islands were in great shape and the equipment operated as designed and I was able to retrieve my receipt at the pump which these days is no guarantee. Once inside I found the restrooms clean and the store and the other integrated businesses all appeared to be uncluttered and organized. I will say the entrance is a little claustrophobic with all the displays which turns a roomy entrance and exit into a one lane path for customers. I really didn't explore much of the store so I don't know if they still sell the pecan logs and white divinity fudge that I'm still digging out of my teeth from decades past lol - but they still have the magic, yes I'm talking about one of my all time favorite road side attractions, a souvenir penny machine - okay it's a little corny but I've been smashing pennies all my life and have quite the collection. I made a point to have the Dunkin guy give my change in pennies and quarters so I could smash a few (it's a fifty-one cent investment) the ROI is the the way it makes me feel and the giddy smile it gifts me...

I stopped by for lunch at this Stuckey's and it is a large location with trucker facilities which include laundry and showers. Furthermore, there is a large parking lot. The interior is very tidy with plenty of space, and the restroom (at least the men's room) is clean and well-maintained. Aside from fuel, most of the offerings here are kitschy souvenir items directed more to tourist traffic. However, I stopped by for lunch after seeing a large sign that read "BURGERS" in front of the building. Aside from road trip munchies, there is a Baskin-Robbins, a Turbo Joe's Pizza and burgers. I ordered a half-pound double-cheeseburger meal, which comes with fries and a drink. The price is comparable to most other fast-food places on the road. The staff are friendly but the ordering process is awkward: One orders at the burger stand area, go to the store's main counter to pay, and go back to the burger area to wait for their order to be ready and pick up the food. Drinks are via a fountain machine. After a few minutes, my order was ready. There were some tables and chairs to dine inside, but owing to the COVID-19 environment, I decided to eat in my car. The fries are the thick cut type and are fresh and crispy. The burger itself was made with fresh ingredients, except for the beef patties which appear to be sourced from frozen, and overall tasted acceptable and did hit the spot. They included ample napkins and ketchup with my order. It was certainly a hearty meal! Overall, I felt that I got good value from my lunch, and this location was clean, has friendly staff, and well-maintained. I would return to this location if the opportunity affords it for me.
