Some of the best brisket I have ever had. Baked beans and Mac were on point. Sausage had the perfect amount of smoked flavor. Everything was delicious. They were so nice, they gave my daughter the dessert, and of course she absolutely loved the honey bun. Cobbler was excellent as well. read more

Excellent bbq ! Cool place as this is an old gas station turned into bbq joint. Sad there was no beer or alcohol . We got the 3 meat plate which came with 2 sides , then got a large Mac and cheese, we ended up eating it for 2 meals there was so much food lol. The brisket was just ok, but the sausage and ribs were on point , the jambalaya side was amazing , the Mac and cheese was good ! And the potato salad was standard potato salad The only thing disappointing was the lady working the register appeared grumpy and not very friendly. Maybe we caught her on a bad day , but the guy that brought our food out to us was friendly and brought us back extra plates and pickles. I would totally 100% come back here again read more

Tired of the local places, we decided to take a little trip outside the city for BBQ. Gator Junction is a small mom and pop joint of the interstate. The smell was amazing as soon as we got out of the car. The menu was not huge which we liked. All the staples are available. Good variety of sides. You order at the counter and the staff brings it to your table. We had the brisket plate which comes with 2 sides and bread and the brisket sandwich. The brisket was so tender on both the sandwich and the plate. The sauce was sweet which I liked. I chose the potato salad which was typical barbecue restaurant style potato salad and the jambalaya. The jambalaya was good and had a kick to it. They also had 8 kinds of homemade fried pies and several other pies for dessert. The staff was fantastic. read more

OMG! We hit the jackpot! This is the genuine real deal back country Texas barbecue we have been craving and looking for!! Everything was superb! The brisket, the sausage and the turkey ( little bit dry but that's how turkey is )! The sides were amazing authentic... superb jambalaya you can really taste the spices and classic baked beans! Beware the " secret sauce " barbecue in the squeeze bottle on the table; that sucker packs some amount of heat! I wish I lived in this area, but then I would probably weight 300 lbs!! We didn't have the courage to try the fried pie desserts but they certainly looked delicious! Keep on keeping on folks, this is a treasure!! read more

They didn't hold back! Best brisket sandwich I've had in a long time. I could smell the post oak the second we stepped out of the truck. This is ALWAYS a good sign. The portion of brisket was almost too much, but just right for someone as hungry as myself. The green beans may be the best I've ever had (?) I have no idea how they are able to maintain the fresh green color and shape while simultaneously producing a soft and velvety mouthfeel. It's one of those great regional mysteries I guess (?). We will certainly be stopping here on the way back to Austin. Next time I will bring some cash for some of the vintage cast irons or other local antique ephemera. Awesome place! read more

Friends raved about this place, so my son and I tried it out. The staff was friendly. The place was clean, enough. The menu was limited: 1st) in total items normally offered and 2) in items actually available (at 12:30 pm). When served, the meat was overdone, the sides were not worth mentioning, and the best part was the tea/Dr. Pepper. I had heard they had the best pies. None were available. "They sell out fast, but you could order one." Since this place is not on my way anywhere normally anymore, I will not be recommending it to anyone with actual tastebuds. read more

I love this place! It's right off of I-10 and the barbecue brisket, pork and chicken was tender and delicious. We had beans, coleslaw, potato salad and macaroni and cheese which was outstanding. It all tasted homemade and was made with love. The service was also friendly and prompt. You can eat in or outside on picnic tables under a tent. Bathrooms were clean and there is a cute gifts area too! My only regret was not ordering any of the desserts which looked delicious. read more

We were looking for a quick local lunch spot after driving though rain and Houston traffic and Gator Junction fit the bill! Everyone was very friendly and didn't mind our dog hanging out at the picnic tables with us. The brisket and chicken were good. The sausage sandwich was great and had so much meat piled on that I saved some for breakfast the next day! The green beans were some of the best I've ever had! Ok, if you want truly incredible great Bar BQ, don't drive by this place. Some of us, hmmm myself, have stopped at the flashy new gas stations and drive right by this gem. I made a point to stop this Saturday and WOW!! You know that you're in for a treat when the air permeates the aroma of bar be. Greeted and welcomed by a friendly and informative staff. Since this was my first visit, I decided on a combo plate. Ribs were meaty and made me want to pack a to go order for home. Sausage and sliced beef were good too. Slaw and potato salad was good. Very cozy place with antique relics around. Keep in mind, this is a gas station and convenience store as well. You can fill up both tanks here. I did find out that they offer to smoke your turkey if you need some extra cooking assistance. Take the extra time to give it a shot. You'll be glad you did. At least I was. I finally made it to Gator Junction!! When I drove up, I realized I had frequented the place a few years ago. What a quaint spot. As you know I love BarBQue and the telltale sign if it is going to be good authentic 'Que is if I can smell good barbeque wood in the air. This place definitely had a great fresh Que smell. I tried the chipped beef and hubby tried the sliced beef sandwich. Service was immediate. We were enjoying a great conversation with this great guy. Didn't ask him what his role was there but he has been there for a minute. He was a friendly one! I ate the Barbque the next day and it was Delicious ! I will be going by there again. If you not careful you will miss Gator Junction BBQ off I-10. Small town store that serves BBQ and sells drinks, candy, bread, beer, etc. I have eaten food from Gator Junction before and it was much better last time than this visit. We had ribs and brisket last time and the pit was in full cooking mode last time we stopped. Today the pit was not going and the food seemed average at best. It was definitely reheated and did not have that smoky flavor you expect with good BBQ. Because the drastic difference between my two visits I'm gonna give it a solid 3 stars. But if you catch them on the pit day it could easily be better. Worth a try if you in the area. read more

This place was not hard to find and the food was really good. The people were very nice and the inside looked like an antique shop mixed with a museum and gas station. It all blended together nicely and was very Texas. I had the brisket and sausage plate and was not disappointed at all. Guys if you do not see the pit smoking outside DO NOT PULL IN. If you DONT SEE THE OLD MAN, get in your car turn around and leave. This place goes to *hit when the old man isn't there. Your sandwich guaranteed will be reheated in the microwave, most of the time overheated. If you've ever had next day brisket that's what it will taste like. The service also is worse, the lady got mad at me because she messes up my order lol then tried to tell me what I said. You'll see a major difference in this place if the manager isn't there.
