After more than a decade of me coming to Chevy Chase Valet I've never been so disrespected by a business owner in my life! If you are a woman do not bring your clothes here, John does not value you. He's an old miserable man who just wants your money. The story; my husband purchased a Canada Goose coat for me 2 years ago. To replace my old North Face which I had been keeping since high school (I'm 39 now), which John has also dry cleaned for me in the past. Last year I took the coat in after winter was over maybe wearing it 5-10 times tops! I picked it up several months later as I don't live in the area and my office moved to the other side of Bethesda (near Montgomery mall). Never bothered to look at it, which is my fault until about 3 weeks ago (it's been a very mild winter) I took it out to wear and noticed that the lining of the coat was grey (black coat) and looked like it got way too much heat as if it was pressed. This was in the lining of the sleeves and pockets. I called and John said he needed to see it. I came in so he can take a look and I've never been so disrespected by a man in my life! He yelled at me repeatedly saying me my coat was worn out, and that he didn't want to hear my bull shit and walked away! Why on earth after giving you my money for over 10 years would I lie about a coat! I don't think Canada Goose would be in such high demand if a coat looked like that after a handful of times being worn. He was incredibly rude and didn't want to take any responsibility. Completely ruined a $600 + jacket, and had no empathy whatsoever. See you in small claims court John. You messed with the wrong one! I've been running my own business for over 15 years ethically I will not be bullied by the likes of someone like you a real piece of shit and an excuse for for a human. read more

I went here for about 15 years and love the two guys John and Rodolfo. They usually did an outstanding job cleaning our clothes. The trouble was that they, or the people they send items out to, kept losing clothing items. After a comforter, jacket, a few sweaters, and a suit jacket went missing- different times over a 5-6 year period- I went somewhere else. I thought they knew how to clean things and their prices were fine, but it was getting too expensive for me and some items couldn't be replaced. read more

Worst service in history. Destroyed our pants, did not apologize- and then asked us not to come back. Truly appalling.

Chevy Chase Valet has to be as good as it gets when it comes to dry cleaning in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area. Everything from the quality of the service to the friendliness and personality of John was first rate. I had gone to two other dry cleaners in the area (including Georgetown Valet on Willard Avenue--see my Yelp review for them too, which is a lot less complimentary) and was at the point of getting ready t toss out some shirts which continued to have awful collar and cuff stains. Finally, I brought said shirts to Chevy Chase Valet and shared my sob story with John. He asked some questions, looked at the shirts individually and exuded sufficient confidence to make me decide--okay, let's try ONE more time. He told me to come back on Friday or Saturday. Well, I happened to be driving by on Friday and decided to stop in. The shirts were not only done...they were amazing. The collars looked brand new; the cuffs were clean; these looked like shirts I would be excited to wear again. The price was about 50% of what I paid at Georgetown Valet and the value I received was worth about 5000% the amount I got at the other place. I recommend this place to anyone that can't seem to get rid of a stain or just want highly professional cleaners taking care of their clothing. read more

Minus only one star b/c they're not cheap, but they are super-friendly, they do a terrific job, and they are not as expensive as some of the places in Bethesda. I also had them wash my down comforter, which was returned fluffy and cleaner than I had seen it in years for only $30. Small location, tucked in among the Don Pollo chicken place with the orange awning. Don't be put off by the piles of clothes in the front -- they're busy and working in a tight space. If you come during non-rush-hour, you can just park right in front of the store on Wisconsin; otherwise, there is metered parking out back for all of these places. ******Amended 1/6/10************** Just returned from my first requested rush job. They were finishing up -- guy carefully examined the order anyway, noticed the suit pants were missing, found them within a minute. And, they didn't charge me for the rush (though maybe b/c I use them so frequently). Restoring the last star -- they deserve it. read more

I've been bringing my clothes to Chevy Chase Valet and consulting with the owner John about the best way to clean this or that garment for probably more than five years now. I consider myself very picky. John's work is excellent. And I always have a congenial conversation when I go. It's the way things used to be, when you could count on excellent customer service at shops that knew you by name and did everything they could to meet your needs. read more

Highly recommend, and I am super picky!!! It's rare to find service this good anymore. The gentleman who owns the place is the nicest and they actually remember me by name, even after almost a year of not coming in (I moved out of town, sadly). He is very knowledgeable about how to properly clean different items and will even turn items away and recommend a different cleaning method if he feels they might get damaged. I have a Helmut Lang white fabric blazer with white leather accents that is very very delicate... I got a dreaded tomato sauce stain on it and brought it here, he gave it back to me looking like brand new. All my silk shirts and dresses come back perfectly steamed and looking beautiful. He gets out all the stains and takes great care of the clothes. He will even help you carry them out to your car! Highly recommend!!! read more

Best dry cleaning experience I have had in years! I have searched and searched for a dry cleaners that will clean leather and when I called to inquire, the gentleman who answered the phone gave me all of my options before I even stepped one foot through the door. They did a really great job cleaning my queen sized down comforter, for only $30!! They have free parking behind the store front, but it's shared spaces with other businesses. There is, however, a county owned/metered parking lot directly behind it. It took a day longer than they promised to get my comforter back, but it was worth it. I'd definitely go back. read more

I used Chevy Chase Valet regularly for about seven months. They are indeed very friendly, and they try to be helpful. I've found them to be very disorganized, though. On several occasions, they've failed to have things done on time--even tasks that I gave them plenty of time to complete--despite my telling them that it's really important that they be on time. This is a recurring problem that has gotten so bad, I'm now looking for another place to go. It's a shame--I like the people who work there, but I just need a more reliable dry cleaner. Also, I've found that when they press or dry clean suits, they do a decent job, but they did a subpar job dry cleaning one tie I brought to them. read more

You cannot and will not find a more professional and more caring (yes, they actually care about you and know you by name) valet anywhere else around. read more

I have done business with John, the owner since before he opened his own establishment. John has always been extremely focused on customer service and doing great work. I moved from Bethesda to to Potomac 18 years ago and tried several dry cleaners, considerably closer to my home. I found none that performed the cleaning to my liking, and in a couple of instances they charged much more. Chevy Chase Valet offers topnotch service coupled with a super friendly atmosphere. This dry cleaners is fantastic. I picked up my clothes today and the kind man (perhaps the owner???) helped me out to my car (I had 12 items). That was so thoughtful of him. I took everything out of the wrapping and clothes smelled so clean (no chemical smell - just a nice, clean smell - soooo awesome!). No annoying staples to wrangle out of tags, either. Horrible service and even worse management! I brought a very expensive linen shirt in to be cleaned along with some other items, and when I picked them up, I noticed that the material was stretched and damaged in multiple places and the sleeves were torn. Since I had only worn the shirt once, and thought I had brought it in to be cleaned in perfect shape, I asked the cashier why it was in this condition. He brought a man, who I assume is the owner, to speak with me about the shirt, and he proceeded to inform me that there was no way that the damage could have been done there, to which I responded that the shirt was practically brand new. He then changed his line of defense to say that the shirt was terrible quality (it was the Rails brand, if you want to look it up), but that if I brought him a receipt, he might reimburse me. When I told him I didn't have a receipt, he said that he would be willing to give me a small amount for the shirt, but that the situation was very "suspicious." When I asked him what he meant by that, he informed me that he thought I was trying to scam him. I then explained how offended I was by his accusation, and that as a mother of two young children, I didn't have the time or energy to scam dry cleaners. He continued to shake his head and repeat that it was a very "suspicious" situation. Offended and somewhat shocked by such disrespect, I took my dry cleaning and left the store. To be honest, if he had just apologized and waived the cleaning for the damaged shirt, I would have left the shop without making a fuss, but to be treated so terribly for no reason was really upsetting. Please don't patronize such a terrible business. read more

These guys are amazing. I've lived all over the DC area (from Bethesda to Arlington to NW DC) and have tried dry cleaners from Potomac to McLean and everywhere in between. One day I stumbled into Chevy Chase Valet in a frantic search for a cleaners that could get a tux shirt done same day - done, no problem. They've been amazing ever since - quick turn around time, you name when you want your items done - by FAR the most competitively priced in the DC area (if you think it's pricey, welcome to DC, you clearly haven't tried other cleaners in the area...) - always outstanding quality getting out tough stains on everything from carpets, to comforters, to silk dresses or suits - they'll even help you carry your items out to your car if you have a big load. We recently moved out to Loudoun County and I still wait until I know I'll be in Bethesda to drop off dry cleaning so I can take it here. read more
