They did an excellent job on my treasured cashmere items. This included the hard hand work of de-pilling. When I forgot I had picked up a large, expensive coral cashmere shawl, they sent me a picture of me, picking up the shawl. They were polite and kind and patient throughout. read more

I wore a very expensive gown for my sister's wedding and was heartbroken to see how dirty it was at the end of the event. The entire bottom and train of my light blue dress was completely black, covered and dirt and looked irreversibly ruined. I picked it up today and it looked completely new. I was floored. Have been using President valet for years. Wonderful sweet family dry cleaners that work well consistently. Had a rude experience today though - the lady on the phone whole time. No hello. Just on the phone the whole time. Didn't tell me when shirts will be ready. Barked back when asked - it's in the invoice. Totally pre occupied. Got sexist racist vibes. Not sure we want to go back!! I have been a client of this cleaners for over 20 years and it is by far the best, most careful, most efficient and most friendly cleaning service I have ever used! They pay attention to specific concerns (spots that won't come out, special fabrics that haven't been cleaned before, etc.) and will even call if there is a question before proceeding. They have cleaned and protected all types of clothing, including cashmere, silk, suede, chiffon and of course wool and cotton. And if I need something in a hurry, they almost always can manage that. A friend recommended this dry cleaners and I am thankful I took my delicate cashmere sweaters to be cleaned and one to be mended with little hope this one sweater could be fixed, to my surprise, the sweater looks like new! I can't even tell where the moths made holes. They shrunk my clothing! I dropped off two suits because I was about to head to a 4-day conference. I picked them up and brought them to the conference only to realizing upon getting there that the suits had been shrunk and were difficult to get on. I'm upset I paid the amount of money I did to have shrunken suits now. read more

I have used this cleaners (starting with different owners) for over 25 years. Today, when I took my shirts for laundering, I was told that due to the the spots (not even bad), the shirts would require dry cleaning and laundering. At the same time, I paid for a box of shirts I had taken in last week.. similar spots, but normal laundering required. I politely took back my dirty shirts, and told them I would take them elsewhere. I will never use this laundry again. read more

This is one expensive dry cleaner. Two skirts cost me $21 -- more than I've ever paid anywhere. The ticket specified lint removal, so I don't know if that drove up the cost. It's not something I've ever been charged for. I also had them repair some moth holes, and the price I was charged was about twice what I had been quoted. To their credit, when I pointed that out, it was adjusted (somewhat). I need to study the repairs more closely and will revise my review to indicate how well those were done. But even if they did terrific work on those, I can't afford this place. read more

I have found the place to go for all my cleaning and alterations! I had over 32 items to dry clean from fancy tops to knit cashmeres. Every item was cleaned without any damage and I have noticed that the clothes did not smell of chemicals I am use to with other cleaners! I also altered some pants and it looked like the original hem! I think the price is reasonable for what you get! The workmanship and details put into our clothes makes it worth every penny. Awful service. I had lost a button on my cotton coat and I wanted to buy 3 new buttons and fix it in the car in the way to an important meeting. The store had the buttons I needed but they didn't want to sell them to me. Only if they were to sew them in I could buy them. And that btw they could not so until some days later. I offered to pay full price for the buttons including the repair (which they were not going to do) but they didn't want to help. My problem could have been easily solved with a little kindness but that's not on the menu in this shop. read more

Yes, they're expensive, but it's worth it because they do a great job. I've brought in things with all manner of stains (including 40 year old age stains on my mom's junior high school graduation dress) and everything comes back spotless and meticulously pressed. Other places will throw the whole things in a pressing machine and flatten out gathers that should billow, etc., but not President Valet - everything looks fluffy and new. The one time a button came off (a super-unique button on vintage coat), they searched around and called me up to let me know they'd found it. I've been going there for years and years and they never disappoint so even though I now live across town, I schlep back to Chevy Chase to clean precious items that I want treated right. read more
