Some of us stayed in cabins, a distance away from the tent sites. While they were rustic, the were exceptionally cleaned and fully stocked. They did sell a few things including firewood for sale, but no store. You could also get lobsters cooked and delivered to your site. There was a beach, and large grassy clearing in front of the beach and boat launch. Also, very close to Reid State Park. Our group was over 40 people ranging in age from 1yr old to 75 yr old. The campground met the needs of the full age range.

The staff is super friendly and the store sells ice and other necessities. Every RV spot has a great ocean view and a personal trash bin that campground staff picks up everyday. No fault of the campground obviously but it was abnormally hot when we visited for 3 nights. The horseflies were very intense and were hard to get away from without being in the RV. The area is very tidal and you can walk very far out at low tide. It's a fun campground in a unique setting. Highly recommend but be prepared for all types of weather.

We stayed at lot 806 and the views were amazing. I will say, we stayed out of season in Mid October so we had a lot of spots to choose from. Booking was super easy and the check in process very simple. Property was beautiful, bathrooms and shower very clean. The bathhouse was alittle cold in the morning but the windows were open, the door was as well and adding that it was 35 degrees through the night so can't judge them on that. Thank you again for an easy and wonderful stay. We will be back next fall.

My wife…read moreand I had our friend's daughter with us for the weekend, so we took her camping at Blueberry Pond Campground in Pownal, Maine. Pros: - Connie (owner?) was very sweet on the phone when booking and when we checked in. - Wooded, private sites with plenty of space for a tent, car, chairs, etc. - Tent site #12 was right next to a big field which we ended up having exclusive use of for frisbee and nigh sky watching - There's a pool (kids love pools) - 5 min drive to Bradbury Mountain State Park - 35 minutes from Portland - Clean (bathrooms, tent site, general campground) - Great for families and kids; very SAFE location and overall feeling Eh's: - There are many RV sites... probably more than tent sites, which adds a different vibe to the place if you're tenting. - There were many dogs at the RV sites... all yapping and barking all the time - RV people get up and start having a rollicking good time very early (and we were up at 730am!) Does this make it seem like I'm anti-RV camping? I'm not, I don't think... Cons: - "Quiet hours of 10pm - 8am strictly enforced!!" ... NOT SO MUCH. There were a few other families with kids near us, and it was great when everything got quiet around 9pm (when our young friend was tuckering out). Not great when around 10pm a car pulled in joining a tent site across the way and made lots of noise until 3am. 3AM is a terrible time to finally get to rest when you're with kids all day. Especially when the RV'ers wake you up at the sound of the rooster. - The "noisemakers" included a member of the staff/ daughter/ relative of the owners. We saw her working when we checked in, and then later when she brought her light-up hula-hoops to the site nearby. Her late night light show kept our tent feeling like a wooded rave for a few hours. - Public shaming of driving 10 MPH. oops! The MPH for the campground is 5. We went to the store after setting up our tent, and upon returning were driving too fast. As we slowed (approaching the stop sign at the office) a man (owner?) jumped out in front of us with his hand out and hollered "5 miles per hour!!!!!" in front of all the folks he was sitting on the lawn with. (from them: "where are they going?" "campsite 12!"). We came to a full stop, gave a thumbs up, and continued to our tent site at 3 MPH just to be safe. I'm sure this is my "stuff" but it made me feel weird for a little while....weird enough to include on this review I guess! Overall: I would probably come back, but asking young camping ravers to "please keep it down" at 230am sucks, so that leaves a sour taste. There's always a risk of loud neighbors when you share a wooded bedroom with dozens of campers, so the pros outweigh the cons here. Hopefully if we do come back, I'll remember to not use such a lead foot when driving. Again, Connie was a gem.

We are camping in a 34 foot R V and they put us very close to the bathrooms and showers. Showers were great and so was the laundry and you would think it would be loud where we were but it was not. I would say it is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed with and Freeport is only ten minutes away . The owners here make you feel like part of the family and they are working all the time to keep up this beautiful property. I would suggest it to anyone. It is an open woods environment with large grassy sites and good hook-ups.

Since guests were asked to respect the speed limit, it afforded people the opportunity to slow down in the campground, and be respectful of other guests. It has to start somewhere. Our site was next to the bathrooms which were very well kept. The trash was never overflowing, the toilets were clean, and the showers were in a decent state. I also enjoyed the constant music which flowed pleasantly into the bathrooms as well. I enjoyed the access to the little store as well. It had most, if not all of one's camping needs provided. Access to ice, firewood, and s'mores supplies, proved quite convenient. One evening, a woman who ran the campground, came over from her camper to take care of me in the store. She did so quite happily, and we shared a few laughs. In all, SF is in a good location, it had all of the necessary amenities, and was well kept. I'd stay again, but I might be getting too old to sleep on an air mattress in a tent. Its location to Camden, Freeport, Boothbay, and obviously Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, were advantageous too. Apparently that site was supposed to be chained off & not reserved, & we were woken up to a bit of the older man's temper, as he thought we took the chain down to enter. Later on, after we decided to just leave & was packing up, he realized the construction crew had failed to replace the chain, thus leaving us to think it was available. He came & apologized, & let us stay on the site, just asked us to move the car to avoid a flat tire, which we actually ended up in the place he asked us to park. We rated 4 stars for the inappropriate assumption & temper but aside from that, they had showers (which you need quarters for by the way), & all the amenities you might expect, & the mama of the property was an absolute sweetheart but we didn't get to actually meet her, unfortunately. There's also a general store with everything's out might need & grocery store with all food pickin' needs just about 5-10 minutes down the road from the entrance. It's also within walking distance to the beach (that's not pet friendly btw) but pets are welcome within a reasonable driving distance to other parts of the beach.

We were traveling in our van and we made use of the shower facilities and the laundry facilities. There are two separate shower facilities - some on the exterior and two on the inside. The exterior showers were good - very typical for campgrounds. The showers on the inside were amazing! They were spacious and clean, hot water with great shower pressure, privacy and did I mention clean? The laundry room was attached and was very nice as well. If you have children (we did not), there seemed to be tons of things for them to do. Pickleball, volleyball, a paved surface and plenty of riding toys for littles and a playground. There was a nice firepit at each site and really nice touches through the park. The attendant in the office was so friendly and amazing! She, just like us, loves London (inside joke)! Anyway, I cannot recommend this place enough.

The view is breath taking, however....the owner is a complete ass. He is unfriendly, unpleasant and all he cares about is money. In the 15 years we simply where not able to make friends with him because he is just not nice. The staff has been fine all these years, but not Steve. We have had a couple incidents over the years, one, my husband hit a $4 fiberglass driveway marker with our camper,we were backing out and he simple didn't see it, we stopped at the office to let Steve know and to offer to pay for it. He through an absolute fit. We gave him $10 and apologized and he was just terrible about it. We almost didn't return the following year but decided that we loved our site so much that we would just deal with it. The next incident, another campers car rolled down the drive way and crashed into the trees right next to our camper...just a few feet from where my children were playing. It was pretty scary....luckily everyone was ok....the owner never even checked on us. The last incident was about 2 years ago, Steve came down and scolded us for laughing too loud at 9 pm at night. Said we needed to quiet it down. I assure you we were not being loud or disrespectful....this is just how the owner is. This year when I tried to book our site for next year, I was told that the ocean sites were all going seasonal and we were out of luck. No warning, no apology, no nothing. So after 15 years of staying at Grays, all of our loyalty and all of the referrals and people we have sent there...we are done . Just like that. So for those of you thinking about Grays, it is beautiful, it is expensive, ( Steve charges for every little thing) and the owner is an ASS!!

There a dozen or so that are seasonal sites with more being converted to seasonal each year. Now these are not inexpensive sites but are reasonable for the location. This is our second season and are returning for another and more the lord willing health wise.

I almost never give 5 stars but this place deserves it. We stayed here 3 nights and used it as a…read morebase to explore the area and it was perfect. Very convenient to the areas of Freeport, Portland, Harpswell, Bailey Island, Boothbay and Pemaquid. The owner is so friendly and helpful. The campground, pool area (closed for the season while we were here), and bathrooms were immaculate. There are quite a few seasonal units here but all are well maintained. Roads are gravel and in pretty good condition and wide enough to easily back in any big rig. All the sites looked to us to be wide and afforded more privacy than most campgrounds we've been in. All looked pretty level and most of the transient sites seemed to be gravel and grass. There is no on site wifi (I do not penalize a campground for not having certain amenities as wifi or cable unless it is advertised and subpar). There is also no cable but we received a strong signal with about 10 channels and no interference even in stormy weather. I would gladly stay here again and recommend it highly.
