We're so glad we did and we have reservations somewhere else tomorrow night, but we are super sad about that and wish we could stay several more days and use it as a homebase for exploring Portland and the towns above and below! If you're looking for an easygoing, very accessible way to go hiking and get some fresh air while wandering Maine's woods, take in the changing leaves of autumn or the abundance of blossoms and wildflowers in the spring, Bradbury - located just thirty minutes from Portland - is hard to beat. According to their website, Bradbury Mountain State Park was one of the original five state parks in the state of Maine, acquired by the Federal government in 1939. The mountain is open year round from 9am until sunset and offers a variety of hiking trails that range from very, very easy ("wide gradual ascents", "well packed and fairly flat") to slightly more challenging ("steepest ascent, but not difficult to hike", "areas with sharp turns"), from .2 miles to 1.5 miles (or more if you want to build your own adventure here - which is very easy to do because this state park's trails are now abundantly well marked; expect lots of maps throughout to let you know where you are AND lots of wooden signs pointing you in the right direction). You could easily do it all in one half day or break up your walk and come back another time, especially considering it's an easy, convenient mountain with an elevation of just 485 feet. Dogs are allowed on leashes, horses are allowed on certain trails. There are bathrooms. You can check out an old cattle pound. Explore for geocaches. It's a cute little mountain, and I'm so happy it's right in (proverbial) our backyard.

They are communicative over text and phone and are very quick to answer questions about how to best use the yurt and surrounding setup. The yurt and campsite provide a super fun glamping-style experience. You get all of the benefits of camping along with some added weather protection, electricity, gravity shower, etc. There is plenty of firewood and a set of high-quality chairs around the fire pit. Very convenient to the areas of Freeport, Portland, Harpswell, Bailey Island, Boothbay and Pemaquid. The owner is so friendly and helpful. The campground, pool area (closed for the season while we were here), and bathrooms were immaculate. There are quite a few seasonal units here but all are well maintained. Roads are gravel and in pretty good condition and wide enough to easily back in any big rig. All the sites looked to us to be wide and afforded more privacy than most campgrounds we've been in. All looked pretty level and most of the transient sites seemed to be gravel and grass. There is no on site wifi (I do not penalize a campground for not having certain amenities as wifi or cable unless it is advertised and subpar). There is also no cable but we received a strong signal with about 10 channels and no interference even in stormy weather. I would gladly stay here again and recommend it highly.

We were traveling in our van and we made use of the shower facilities and the laundry facilities. There are two separate shower facilities - some on the exterior and two on the inside. The exterior showers were good - very typical for campgrounds. The showers on the inside were amazing! They were spacious and clean, hot water with great shower pressure, privacy and did I mention clean? The laundry room was attached and was very nice as well. If you have children (we did not), there seemed to be tons of things for them to do. Pickleball, volleyball, a paved surface and plenty of riding toys for littles and a playground. There was a nice firepit at each site and really nice touches through the park. The attendant in the office was so friendly and amazing! She, just like us, loves London (inside joke)! The machines were large and new. Price to run a load was $5.50. Bathrooms were super nice as well. My husband took a shower and was very happy with the shower size and how clean the bathroom was. The staff (possibly owner) who took my credit card and reservation info failed to inform me of a required arrival time and didn't leave any info at the gate for me. We ended up just driving in and picking a site, planning on straightening payment out in the morning. When we had our tents most of the way up, my friend noticed two syringes in the fire pit. They appeared to be insulin syringes. We also noticed the strong scent of marijuana wafting to our area several times during the night. Noise in the area escalated until well past midnight, including someone calling their dog and a couple having a nasty fight. No one enforced this. We happened to find the same staff who took my info driving around in a minivan and got her attention. She took my payment and waived my deposit since we were tenting and in so late. She pointed us to the restroom which was fairly unclean. The showers appeared to be coin-op (though they're actually not), and one was broken. I would recommend avoiding this campground in lieu of any other in the area. (If you're a touring cyclist, it is inexpensive. This is probably it's only plus.)

The tent & cabin were both very clean & comfortable. The campground community bath house (when staying in a tent or cabin w/out bathroom) was also kept clean. The cabins could use a bit more privacy - all the huge, gorgeous, picturesque windows are problematic as (particularly in the winter) there's several other cabins w/full view into your windows. It would be nice if it was more of a private / woods view than looking into other cabins. That said, my daughter & I enjoyed our time and have been repeat customers. Would give it 4.5 stars (Yelp doesn't give half star option, but I needed to account for the lack of privacy in several of the cabins in the area we were in.). Overall a great option & we'll likely be back!
